Can't install DirectX 9.0c

Question

I just did a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2.DirectX 9.0b was insluded with it.

Now when I try to install DX 9.0c it skips the installation and says that DX 9.0c was successfuly installed although when I run 'DxDiag' it tells me I still have DX 9.0b :pinch:

I googled for while and found out that it is probably a SP2 problem. The DX installation seems to think I have 9.0c because I have SP2 installed [which comes with 9.0c by actualy, but I seem to have some kind of beta version with 9.0b].

What should I do ? Is there a way to uninstall SP2 or force DX 9.0c to install ?

EDIT: SP2 is not on the Add\Remove Programs list, so I can't uninstall it that way.

btw, I got 'Juiced' and Colin 'McRae Rally 05' today but I can't play because of that DX problem

in DX9.0c intall file, there?er two file dsetup32.dll & dsetup.dll. these file will check your system's current DX ver. but it have something wrong when checking your DX ver.

you can use the dsetup32.dll & dsetup.dll in the DX9.0b intall file replace the same files in the DX9.0c intall file.

then trying reintall DX9.0c

It was annoying but couldn't avoid it.I had to slipstream WinXP Pro with SP2 myself and installed it over the old Windows installation [Repair didn't work].

Now I'm happy playing Colin McRae Rally 05 ... awesome game, btw
