Ok I know this is highly unlikely but bear with me here.....Assuming you were pinned down in combat in an urban area in a 3rd world country like Afghanistan where you will be engaged in indoor and outdoor combat, which primary assault rifle would you rely on?!

I personally prefer the AK cause it has a high rate of fire and doesn't get jammed a lot despite being quiet inaccurate and very loud (Can't be modded like the M4)

If this gun however was common, I'd use it any day

And remember this is all hypothetical :p

What? No SA80A2 option? :D

It all depends on what situation you are looking at. If you are a small disorganised team facing a large opposition, take an AK cos it is inaccurate enough that it can keep the enemies head down long enough for you to escape. If you are a large hunter group, you want about 3 people with good accuracy weapons to every 1 person with a low accuracy, high fire rate weapon.

In British Army, IIRC (i'm silly ex-cadet person with probably rubbish knowledge) they tend to have 3 people with SA80 IWs and 1 person with a SA80 LSW for that reason.

I told you my knowledge was rubbish. And a little knowledge is a very dangerous thing.

There are many better rifles than the SA80A2. Don't get me wrong. That was a joke. However I do seem to remember somebody ran some comparison tests and it was more accurate than the M16, AK47, AN-94, G36 and the M4. It was also second in reliability only to the AK47.

I've only ever seen the AK47. Obviously was never allowed to use it but my understand was it was quite accurate in single-shot and burst but can't hit anything on full. Maybe I'm getting it mixed up with something else.

Id definitely go with the AK47, or the newer version, what is it, the...AK-94( coulda swore thats what it was called, but I can only find the AK74 online...)...I think....they were showing it on the history channel the one day, the barrel is dampered to minimized barrel climb, and one squeeze on the trigger can send three rounds to pretty much the same hole, the last round leaving the barrel before the first has even struck.

There was also a comparison of the Vietnam era M-16, and the Vietnam era AK-47, I cant remember all the particulars, but the AK-47 could punch through trees with enough energy left over to go through your skull. The M-16 round would bounce off.

It was funny to watch the AK-47 being fired in slow motion though, all the parts shaking and shifting, the barrel even warped a bit.

Ak does not jam like m4,it is more weather proof, uses a variety of ammo, rugged, recoils more but i would trust her alaways before the m4.

i have an ar15 and an ak47 and they both 'kick' the same. the farthest ive ever fired them was 100yards and at that distance could still hit a milkjug size target no problem with either. that is of course shooting semiauto. people have this big missconception that ak's are really inaccurate but if you were in urban combat and only doing most of your shooting within 50yards, you wouldnt have a problem popping off human size targets in semi or full auto. me and a few friends go shooting every weekend and we each own ar15's and ak47's, and we all consistantly hit about the same size targets at the same range. the other missconception that m16's, m4's, etc jam easily isnt all that true. you do have to baby them and clean them after a while, but it isnt as if they just stop firing after 50 rounds or even 1000 rounds. someone above stated that ak's are better protected from the weather and that's why they dont jam isnt true. ak's have lots of places that mud and dirt can get into the gun. the big difference between the two guns and the reason you dont have to baby an ak and clean it all the time is that the ak's arnt built for precision. and when i say that, im not talking about the shooting accuracy of the gun, im talking about the accuracy of how the gun is put together. an ak is so loose on the inside that extra grime doesnt cause it to jam up as quick. an ak can jam and ive seen it happen but my point is that you have to clean guns or sooner or later they will fail. the big difference is that you dont have to clean an ak as often.

all said and done, if i was taking one into battle, i'd probly take the ar simply because it's lighter (much lighter).

    • Still 3x what it should cost. So, it seems the trick is to increase price by 6x so that a reduction in price back to 4x looks like a steal. "You savvy shoppers win again!" I'm glad I'm not in a desperate spot to actually even need this overpriced crap. Hopefully, it comes back down by the time for when (or if) I ever do.

    • Microsoft wants to end printer driver headaches with Windows Ready Print by Usama Jawad A few days ago, Microsoft released Windows 11 Experimental build 26300.8553, bringing a ton of enhancements such as Start menu customization, search improvements, Taskbar polish, and other minor UI tweaks. Another relatively major enhancement snuck deep within the change log was related to upgrades to the Windows printing experience. Now, Microsoft has shared more details about these benefits. For starters, Microsoft has renamed its Modern Print Platform to Windows Ready Print. The company believes that this name highlights its shift in strategy, which now focuses on modernizing, securing, and streamlining the printing experience for Windows devices. Some of the upgrades present in Windows Ready Print have already been seeded to customers and partners. This includes ending support for third-party printer drivers via Windows Update and transitioning towards the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) and the native Windows IPP printer driver. In line with these changes, new printer installations will default to Windows Ready Print on eligible devices starting from July 2026. However, Microsoft recognizes that not all environments will be able to migrate to this platform immediately, so it will allow users to choose between installing the printer via Windows Ready Print or the traditional OEM process. Users will be able to toggle this configuration through Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Printers & Scanners > Printer preferences. This control applies only to new printer installations, and its functionality can also be modified via Group Policy as follows: Launch Group Policy Editor Navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Printers Find and select 'Configure Windows Ready Print driver ranking' -> double click to open it Select 'Enabled' (if you wish to enable Windows Ready Print driver selection) or 'Disabled' (if you wish to explicitly disable Windows Ready Print driver selection). Select Apply Select OK Similarly, if you set up Windows protected print mode through the same setting in Windows 11, it will also default to using Windows Ready Print exclusively. Microsoft hopes that these improvements will help eradicate dependency on OEM-specific driver installation processes and simplify printer installations. We'll likely find out more about other tangible benefits in the coming months.
