[Released] 'Luna Element 3' Shellstyles

Recommended Posts

Someone pointed this out in em3's new shellstyle and it appears your shellstyles have it as well. Can this be re-colored? TIA :)

I'lll have a look into it but I have a feeling that part isn't in shellstyle.dll but in another dll that is part of windows\srchasst. With the ammount of coding in them dll's you could easily muck up or even loose the search companion which I doubt people will want.

It's for sure not in windows\srchasst.

I've tried other VS's right now to make sure it isn't and they skin "correctly" the search window. So it's either in the shellstyle.dll or in the actual visual style.

My bet would be the shellstyle.dll.

Well the "Search companion" colours are not in shellstyle.dll.

I just simply tried another theme that had the search adjusted, took that shellstyle & swapped it in place of one of mine in Luna Element 3 & the old search came back.

It's the Theme, not my shellstyle's, so it's outa my hands, sorry guys...

How do I use a shell style?

It's definately not rocket science and it's explained in detail in the readme in the download. But if you're too lazy to RTFM here's an excerpt:

How to use

"Element Classic Shellstyle"

Place the "Shellstyle.dll" into the following directory - C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Element\Shell\Classic.

When asked to overwrite file press "Yes".

"Element Normal Shellstyle"

Place the "Shellstyle.dll" into the following directory - C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Element\Shell\NormalColor.

When asked to overwrite file press "Yes".

"Element Royal Shellstyle"

Place the "Shellstyle.dll" into the following directory - C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\Element\Shell\Royal.

When asked to overwrite file press "Yes".

"Royal Square Shellstyle"

If you like this version then I feel it's best suited in the same directory as the one above ("Element Royal?  Shellstyle").

Apart from the above post It should also be noted that you must change to a different theme before you try to chnge shellstles or XP will complain that they are already in use.

Excuse me for not realizing there was a readme with the download. But thanks for at least telling me how to do it.

Hey Mick, would you be willing to whip up some alternative shellstyles for the newly released LE4 Beta? Thanks in advance! :)

Tbh the Beta of LE4 doesn't reallydo much for me. I may change my mind when the final version comes out.

At the moment I'm sticking with LE3 though.
