To everyone who is using WMP10: Do you use .wma or .mp3 files in it?

I have a Sandisk mp3 player that supposedly gets better battery life when using wma's rather than mp3's.

MP3's. I convert everything to MP3. :)

I got a Samsung YP-MT6z player and it rawks. (Y)

42 hours battery life - regular AA battery - estimate seems spot on.

I encode all of my music to high bitrate wma.

WMP is great for syncing with music players or movie players, like a portable media center. I just plug in my player and it syncs music/podcasts based on my priorities automatically, ie podcasts go on first then music rated 4-5 stars then anything else that can fit.

WMP is also great for organizing your music library. If you have music that isn't tagged properly, you can find song information based on song title, album and artist to change the ID3 tags to match that exact song. This also associates album art with the song, which will show up in the now playing window when you select to display album art.

WMP also has Auto Playlists that generate playlists automatically based on your settings. A good example of how this is useful are my New Podcasts and Podcasts to Delete auto playlists. The new podcasts playlist shows all podcasts that i have not listened to, while the Podcasts to Delete playlist shows all podcasts that i have listened to and can delete. These playlists update automatically and can be very useful if you don't like making playlists manually.

Ok, i've not read this thread, i was asked to give my opinion by iMinimal.

so here it is.

I personally use WMP10 because;

>it cross-references my collection.

>It automatically makes Genre playlists (which is a feature I really need)

That?s all.

I do realise that WMP10 is a little on the slow side, but, to be honest it?s the automated playlist generation that makes it a ?keeper? over winamp which I also really like but for the lack of an automated playlist generation feature.

Here's what ya get:

But I don't use the headphones. They sound too tinny. I prefer my Sennheisers.

Way cool.

The Samsung YP-MT6z 1 gig I mentioned before uses a single AA battery and gets 40+ hours (tested at about 43 or more on mine so far).

Came with these:

But I swapped 'em out for these:

Works great. Plugs into the USB with this little adapter (included) or a standard USB transfer cable, also included:

It's so much fun. :)

For music MP3's I use 160kbps encoded with Music Match 7.5 (fast Fraunhoffer that sounds as good to me as Lame 192kbps) and I'm very happy. I also use it to listen to audio books and the included FM radio. Wish it had AM radio for sports.

One thing I don't do is mess with playlists and synchronizing. The Samsung YP-MT6z acts as a standard USB storage device, so all I have to do is copy files over to the player when I plug it into the port. I can use Windows Explorer or any other file management app like PowerDesk Pro.

I think the standard USB storage device part is the best. No copy restrictions, no need to load any software. Just plug it into Windows XP and you can copy to and from it or delete files with no sweat. (Y)

This is certainly some valuable points. I'm pretty much leaning towards .wma

Does it place any burning restrictions on .wma's you've ripped to your pc?

    • Do not enter the code under any circumstances, or you will be sorry. It's definitely and most likely a hacking attempt.  That happened to me a couple of years ago, and I kept receiving those prompts for months. It's simply the attacker trying to get you tired of the constant requests, so you just give up and enter the code, so they can log in to your account.
