Another vote for PerfectDisk 7. Diskeeper 9 PRO does a horrible job of defragmenting..and even though it might be faster than PerfectDisk, if you're defragmenting and all you care about is the defragmenting speed process..then why're you even defragmenting in the first place? :D

I'd like to (temporarily) add my vote for O&O. It seems to do a pretty darn good job, plus it has the scheduled task option of defragging only if the disk has reached a certain percentage of defragmentation (IE 5%). That way I can keep it set on a weekly timer (to run when everyone is asleep), but it won't run unless it's become too defragmented. Thus saving the drive from having to go through too much (unnecessary) thrashing.

If Perfectdisk has this option though, I may just have to give it a try :D

IMO, perfectdisk sux, it needs to defrag the WHOLE disk instead of juz CHOOSING to defrag parts of the disk in DISKEEPER ..

Diskeeper doesn't defrag the whole disk on any of my drives. It leaves segments that are not contiguous, even if not marked NON-Moveable.

Perhaps Perfect Disk won't do that. I guess I will have to try it.

Whatever happened to Norton Speed Disk. Did it just stagnate and fall by the wayside?

Speed disk takes way to long to defragment..and even after its done, its hard to tell whether it even did anything or not.

After running Diskeeper, my system didn't seem any faster. But after running PerfectDisk, I could actually tell that my system ran more smoothly and programs loaded faster.
