Problem with Norton Internet Security 2005

Question

If anyone can help me with this I'd be eternaly greatful - I've recently purchased a computer that included Norton Internet Security 2005 (60 Day Demonstration version). Not long after that I brought the full version, and was told to wait until the demonstration version had run it's course before installing the paid for product.

The demonstration version ran out yesterday, and I've tried to uninstall it today, so that I could install the full version, however I can't find anything relating to Norton in the Add / Remove Programs Panel. I've tried to install the full version, in an attempt to overerite the demo version, but it just keeps saying that I need to uninstall the demo version before I can go ahead.

Does anyone have any idea of how I can fix this? Any help'd be appreciated.

Thanks.

Go to C:/Documents and settings/'user name'/local settings or application data folder. Find ANYTHING to do with Norton in the folders and delete it. Also delete the norton folders in PROGRAM FILES filder. Doing this will get rid of most the files. After you have deleted most of the folders, run CCleaner and do a scan for 'problem files' and it will delete reg settings that norton used because they will be classed as invalid because u have deleted the program and files. Then install Norton and it should install correctly.

If that doesnt work, do a restore (about a week ago) and then restart. It will have Norton that u have before on it, Just install the new one and it should uninstall the old one and install the new one.

If that doesnt work, email Symantec and ask them for a solution.
