PDA vs MP3 Player, Ipod, Image viewer, ETC

Recommended Posts

If we see now so many gadget for many purpose such as MP3 player, Photo viewer, image viewer, ETC. with the price also not so cheap.

I am thinking why there is No PDA manufacturer realize that they can make a multipurpose device by improving standard PDA design, so it can functions as that device plus the PDA.

I believe many people will be more happy to buy this multipurpose device if the price different is not too big, and they still get a PDA. what do you think ?

Well other than the fact the PDA's don't have a 20 gig hard drive in them, I think they do infact bridge the gap. My Ipaq with a 300 processor was about $250 and I also got a 1 gig card, so it plays mp3's, plays movies runs applications, views photos, and plays games, and also works as a great business device I use everyday for invoices. Given the screen is small I can compress a 1 hour video into 40 megs, so on a 1 gig card thats a lot of video

I love it.

For me, that would not work. I have a phone, a pda and an ipod. they all serve unique purpses adn each do the well. There is no one device that I could find that do all these things as well as the sum. Keep in mind, my PDA is the largest item I have. I use a T616 phone, an ipod mini and an ipaq PDA. It seems like alot, but never is more than one out of my bag at a time. Phone while in cab or driving or away from office), PDA at office, iPod on planes or at gym. I don't want to be at the gym and have my music player ring ot alert me of a meeting, I don't want my wife calling my PDA while I'm in a meeting, and I don't want my phone beeping for a meeting in the middle of a conversation or the hassle of dealing with airline personel when I try to listen to my phone on a flight. I am just the type of person that thinks convergence is not always good.

Also, my office pays for my PDA, and I know I would could write-up any employee that returned a PDA to me with music on it (personal use of company equip., though I would not be that anal).
