HOLY 6.5MB Per Second! Look at this!

Hey, I've been downloading 6MB per second for the past half an hour. That is 4.5 GB in 12.5 minutes. How crazy is that? How can this be possible? I have Sonic.NET 6mb service. Usually get about 630 KB per second. Now its at 6.8 mb per second. Here is a screenshot:

Well, first of all, I don't know if you should be posting that screenshot of what I'm assuming is downloading a pirated DVD. Secondly, downloading from newsgroups like that is almost always a lot faster than just about any other downloading that you would do from the internet. The reason is, as I understand it, that when you're downloading from newsgroups, you're actually just downloading straight from your ISP. That is, of course, instead of going through your ISP to somewhere halfway around the world and downloading something. The connection is just a lot faster.

Yeah, but wow, this is the greatest luck I've run into since forever. I'm truly amazed at how fast the downloads are. Hope this keeps up.

Do you get those speeds using http protocol, or only on newsgroups?

I'm not trying to promote anything, just trying to show you my speeds. If the mods want me to take the image down or censor it, just let me know. Other than that, I'm just happy looking at how fast things go.

That can't be right. Calculating your average speed for the past 5 hours and 8 minutes, I'm only getting about 700 KB / second; and while it's indeed fast, it isn't that outstanding :huh:

I heard Sonic Net was pretty good. It's available in my area too (I live near you) but I went with Comcast instead just recently :p

But that's going over the Atlantic and all. :(
