Hiphop, Rap has destroyed Music

I don't think he'll be able to hear or read those lyrics through the white hood he's wearing... Whoops, now i've gone and slipped into rash generalizations as well.

who said im white, im brown, that was a racist statement even though im not white

/Rant

Why the hell do people like this crap. this isnt even music. This is one of the reasons channels like MTV and VH1 have become like crap. There is no concept of Music in this genre, only sex, guns and voilence, thats it. Sure im into rock and alternative rock but the definition of music is demolished with this kind of crap. Why the hell do people listen to this and make it go to top of the charts. All the music of this genre has one damn theme. Girls, guns, Girls, guns, girls, guns. Thats all

End Rant/

The most ignorant post I ever read.

Reported for spamming and trolling? Cos I pointed out a MASSIVE flaw in your moralistic views? Loser, seriously!

Run to a Mod when someone finds flaws in your sensitivities? Maybe you should tighten your standpoint on the world first!

I won't say all of it is crap. But yeah, most of it is and I also can't see why it's so popular. Before I started playing guitar people told me that perhaps I should insted learn to DJ since that's the general direction things are going.

I shouldn't of even started playing guitar, guitar players are a dime a dozen and I would of been better off picking a least used instrument. I think.

yes voilent movies have voilence, but they have substance, many video games have voilence, like which one? San Andreas, a game influenced by Rap and Hip Hop if you played the game, Vice City was a little but not as much as San Andreas, All hip hop artists promote thier music (with the exception of P Diddy and 1,2 others) through sex and voilence while games which promote thier game through voilence are wrong and so are the movies. Just look at an example of movies promoting thier movie through voilence , Ballistics, Ecks vs Sever, a complete FLOP surprisingly . Bad Boys II, promoting voilence and sex. There is a REASON why they say Hollywood movies are suffering, because they are badly made. Same reason is applied to Hip Hop and Rap. bad music with bad promotion.

real music is u2, coldplay, even other alternate and hard rock and some pop music is original music like it was in the 90's

Hahahahaha! That gave me a good chuckle. :pinch:

You couldn't Rap if your life depended on it, anyone can learn to play a damn guitar, I'm not ****ed off or against people from listening to whatever they want, but this guy is like whining. :|

Del from Gorillaz IS rap!

OP: Your assessment of rap is so 100% wrong. I mean, you say Diddy doesn't promote violence, um... You even listened to Forever? He is crap rap anyhow, mainstream rubbish!

There are quite possibly more socially aware rap/rnb/hip-hop artists than there are rock artists at the moment. All the rockers sold out in the late 80's. Jesus, you ended up with Metallic playing against a string orchestra - how very rock n roll.

Mike: The guitar is one of the most versatile instruments - you didn't pick badly!  A lot of different genres use guitar, from rap, rnb, hip-hop all the way through classical and country, to rock and metal!

have u ever seen a rap artists playing a guitar correctly in the music video?

You're ignorant. Not ALL hip hop is about "sex guns and violence".

Do some homework before making generalizations.

586445399

agreed.

Whilst i agree with you in as far as theres been a turning towards sexy woman, etc in video clips, you'd also have to have noticed theres been a turn towards that in movies, tv and other mediums. Magazines etc have always pushed the idea of the perfect woman, now it's just the perfect sexy woman.

Plus, im sure the older people in the 50s had the same feelings when rock music was taking over. It was trash, evil and turned kids wild. Unfortunantly, once a genre of music comes out it's tough to make it disappear. I personally dont like the suedo rock/punk stuff brought out by banks like sum 41 and simple plan. They all sound they same to me. But. i'll live with them, because you can enjoy all sorts of music. You dont just have to listen to the top 40 :p

586445456

Quite true. Any time a 'new' form of music makes its way to the fore of entertainment, you've always got the die-hards from the previous standard screaming bloody murder about how bad it is.

Most music today that is mainstream is quite unorginal. The rap and hip hop stuff that you hear on the radio is like you say but there is more to the scene then just that. Gorillaz are hip hop artists and they are not all about sex drugs and violence

I will give you the advice of turning off the radio and throwing your tv out the window if it has MTV on it.

What really is killing music is the repeatative radio forcing the "popular music" down our throats.

Oh and by the way I listen to jsut about everything that sounds good too me

And-How. Radio/TV plays what sells, which is mostly garbage, I used to listen to the radio alot because a few of the stations here played good stuff once-upon-a-time.

Why not be a sport and provide 10 different examples then?

Blackalicious - Alphabet Aerobics

Blackalicios - Chemical Calisthenics

RUN DMC - Its Like That (original released in 1983)

Black Eyed Peas - Weekends (pre-Fergie)

Del the Funky Homosapien - Burnt

Eric Sermon feat. Marvin Gaye - Just Like Music

Fugees - Killin' Me Softly

Guru feat. Bilal and Slum Village -Certified

Jurrasic 5 - Quality Control

Jurrasic 5 feat. Nelly Furtado - Thin Line

K-Os - Man I Used to Be

Outkast - Humble Mumble

Public Enemy - Welcome to the Terror-Dome

Sugar Hill Gang - Rappers Delight (or check out the Redman & Method Man 'remix')

That song came out in 1979, so hip-hop has been 'ruining' music for alot longer than I imagine you even figured.

Q-Tip - Vivrant Thing

Slick Rick - Childrens Story

thats just a small list, Im sure the real hip-hop heads will be disgusted with my choices, but atleast its a start.

It's easy to say how "guns, violence, and chicks" are bad because there in rap, but have you ever thought about the fags in the techno/gay videos whatever you want to call them, guys with hair upto there knees, with all that gothic clothing, like that's any better than Rap.

*reported to your mom, boy is she gonna be mad at you.

586445676

We should report him for whining against Rap.

I don't see gorillaz as rap in the least they are a genre unto themselves it would be a shame to group them into the rap category as they are so much more.

586445657

Well I think the base of their music is rap.

have u ever seen a rap artists playing a guitar correctly in the music video?

Fugees - Pras rocks with the best of em, and Wycliffe plays amazing classical guitar.

Andre 5000 - plays electric guitar brilliantly.

Man, I am gonna back out now, cos all the anti-rap arguements here are as watertight as Bono's ass! And this is coming from soneone who has paid thousands to see rock acts over the years!

Lol, I don't know much about rap, and as a whole don't really like the genre, but I find (older) hip hop quite good.

Oh, and for all you guys arguing on the pro-side and telling us that it's the fault of Fitty and all those weirdos, now you know how us metalheads feel when people attack metal claiming Manson and Korn (along with the tons of nu-metal bull) can cover the extremely braod spectrum of metal.

Well I think the base of their music is rap.

586445667

Thank you

Del was featured as Rufus on the first album. How can you not say that Gorillaz isn't in the Rap category? If anything it's heavily influnced by it.

have u ever seen a rap artists playing a guitar correctly in the music video?

Please tell me you're not serious. This is a joke, right? NO ONE PLAYS ACTUAL MUSIC IN A MUSIC VIDEO UNLESS RECORDED LIVE.

I'm not a big fan of rap / hip hop, but some of it is pretty decent. I don't think that is the cause of bad music.

MTV has most definately destroyed music. It disturbs the market, so people buy what is seen on TV or what is hot rather than what they like. I used to watch MTV when i was younger, and I had no taste in music whatsoever then. (I like to think that my taste has developed quite a bit since then) Because it tells people to buy certain things, and people buy those things, the market in music is less about what is good and what people like and more about what is cool. That is the problem with music today. Too many people try to fit and image that they relate to music, which is why rap and hip hop is often hated by music lovers because they see the MTV hip hop image emulated by so many people, and they see the result: their radio channels becoming mtv-ized and hate it.
