Hiphop, Rap has destroyed Music

Recommended Posts

I can't vouch for it's authenticity, but it is very funny and ironically, very relevant to this thread.

This paper was turned in by an Oakland High school student who received the highest honors at the school district?s Ebonics translation competition.

Assignment: Please translate the following Rap song lyrics from Ebonics to standard English.

Artist: Notorious B.I.G.

Album: Ready to Die

Song: One more chance (remix)

162biggiesmalls5cu.gif

Lyrics:

First things first, I poppa, freaks all the honeys

Dummies - playboy bunnies, those wantin? money

Those the ones I like ?cause they don?t get nathan?

But penetration, unless it smells like sanitation

Garbage, I turn like oorknobs

Heart throb, never, black and ugly as ever

However, I stay coochied down to the socks

Rings and watch filled with rocks

TRANSLATION:

As a general rule, I perform deviant sexual acts with women of all kinds, including but not limited to those with limited intellect, nude magazine models, and prostitutes. I particularly enjoy sexual encounters with the latter group as they are generally disappointed in the fact that they only receive penile intercourse and nothing more, unless of course, they douche on a consistent basis. Although I am extremely unattractive, I am able to engage in these types of sexual acts with some regularity. Perhaps my sexuality is somehow related to my fancy and expensive jewelry.

Lyrics:

And my jam knock in the Mitsubishi

Girls pee pee when they see me, Nava-hoes creep me in they tee pee

As I lay down laws like I lay carpet

Stop it - if you think your gonna make a profit

TRANSLATION:

I enjoy playing my music loudly on my car stereo. Apparently, women enjoy this also because they become sexually aroused when they see me driving. Oddly enough, when I visit the Native American reservations, some of the more sexually promiscuous Indian women attempt to seduce me in their homes. Their intent is to divest me of my earnings. Such actions are unacceptable.

Lyrics:

Don?t see my ones, don?t see my guns - get it

Now tell ya friends Poppa hit it then split it

In two as I flow with the Junior Mafia

I don?t know what the hell?s stoppin? ya

I?m clockin? ya - Versace shades watchin? ya

Once ya grin, I?m in game, begin

TRANSLATION:

Understand this fact: you can have neither my money, nor my weapons. I suggest that you inform your peers that we engaged in violent sexual acts. Currently, I am rapping with my associates, the Junior Mafia. I?m having some difficulty understanding why you refuse to approach me. I am attempting to make eye contact with you through my expensive glasses, and as soon as you respond with a smile, I will approach you.

Lyrics:

First I talk about how I dress and this

And diamond necklaces - stretch Lexuses

The sex is just immaculate from the back I get

Deeper and deeper - help ya reach the

Climax that your man can?t make

Call and tell him you?ll be home real late

Let?s sing the break

TRANSLATION:

I prefer to open the conversation with light banter about my wardrobe and jewelry, then I like to discuss my collection of expensive cars. This is more than enough to convince you to have sexual intercourse with me. I am able to insert my penis further into you when I enter you from behind. Furthermore, you will be able to reach orgasm. I understand this to be a problem with your current sexual partner. He needn?t be concerned about your whereabouts. Please phone him and inform him that you won?t be home for a while. By the way, please sing the chorus of the song for me also.

Lyrics:

She?s sick of that song on how it?s so long

Thought he worked his until I handled my biz

There I is - major pain like Damon Wayans

Low down dirty even like his brother Keenan

Schemin? - don?t bring your girl ?round me

True player for real, ask Puff Daddy

TRANSLATION:

Your current love interest no longer wishes to hear your fabrications about the length of your member. After I had sexual intercourse with your woman, she became enlightened as to the proper way it is supposed to be performed; violently and immorally. It would be in your best interest to keep your woman away from me as my sexual prowess is very strong. If you are unconvinced, ask Puff Daddy.

Lyrics:

You - ringin? bells with bags from Chanel

Baby Benz, traded in your Hyundai Excel

Fully equipped, CD changer with the cell

She beeped me, meet me at twelve

TRANSLATION:

Despite the fact that you attempted to win her at her doorstep with bags full of expensive clothes and a car (the lower end model Mercedes Benz which you financed by signing over your current vehicle) containing an expensive stereo and a cellular phone, your woman has contacted me through my pager indicating that we should rendezvous at midnight.

Lyrics:

Where you at? Flippin? jobs, playin? car notes?

While I?m swimmin? in ya women like the breast stroke

Right stroke, left stroke what?s the best stroke

Death stroke - tongue all down her throat

Nuthin? left to do but send her home to you

I?m through - can ya sing the song for me, boo?

TRANSLATION:

You, on the other hand, jump from job to job, barely able to maintain payments on the Mercedes Benz you purchased for your woman. Meanwhile, I continue to engage in sexual intercourse and commit lewd osculatory acts with your women. My only remaining option is to request that she leave my home and return to you because I have reached orgasm and no longer have a need for her presence.

Lyrics:

So, what?s it gonna be? Him or me?

We can cruise the world with pearls

Gator boots for girls

The envy of all women, crushed linen

Cartier wrist-wear with diamonds in ?em

The finest women I love with a passion

Ya man?s a wimp, I give that ass a good thrashin?

TRANSLATION:

The ultimate decision rests with you. Whom do you choose as your sexual partner. I can take you on cruises around the world. I will dress you in the finest jewelry and footwear. You will be envied by women worldwide in your fine clothes and jewelry. There is a special place in my heart for beautiful women. I will defeat your man in an altercation because he is effeminate.

Lyrics:

High fashion - flyin? into all states.

Sexin? me while your man masturbates.

Isn?t this great? Your flight leaves at eight.

Her flight lands at nine, my game just rewinds.

Lyrically I?m supposed to represent.

I?m not only the client, I?m the player president

TRANSLATION:

You will be dressed in finest clothes on the runways of Paris. I will fly you to every state to shop for fine clothes and jewelry. You will enjoy sexual intercourse with me and your man will be forced to pleasure himself through manual stimulation. What a life! I?ll return you to LaGuardia in time to catch your 8 o?clock flight. The timing is perfect because I have scheduled a date with a second woman who arrives at the same gate at 9 o?clock. I?ll seduce her in the same way that I seduced you. I rap well and I am a positive reflection of my home town. Not only am I a sexually deviant, misogynistic, immoral, wealthy, male prostitute, but I also sit on the board:rofl:rectors of the organization that governs others of my kind.

Hip Hop has destroyed music as much as Rock did.  Hip Hop is as much music as Rock is.

Accept it, Rock has been replaced by Hip Hop.

586445763

Rock has hardly been replace it is thriving. And I would guess will soon overtake rap once again. Look at all the startup bands out there what is most of the underground music world listening to what is being played at your local venues. Mostly rock is what I am seeing. It has hardly been replaced.

You said underground, not mainstream. I think you rang the bell right there. Now go back and read what everyone has been trying to defend.

586445779

I was in no way saying mainstream. But how do we predict what will be in the mainstream in the future by looking at trends in the underground and smaller venues. Duh.

To add, ever heard of the expession, you only see what you want? You ignore the hip-hop underground scene at local venues and you probably have them but don't want to acknowledge them because it doesn't fit your taste.

Rock has been replaced in a sense that it is no longer the "new controversial" genre. Rap has taken that mantel.

Rock has become fully embraced as Rap eventually will. No big deal - but some people seem to have issue with it!

/Rant

Why the hell do people like this crap. this isnt even music. This is one of the reasons channels like MTV and VH1 have become like crap. There is no concept of Music in this genre, only sex, guns and voilence, thats it. Sure im into rock and alternative rock but the definition of music is demolished with this kind of crap. Why the hell do people listen to this and make it go to top of the charts. All the music of this genre has one damn theme. Girls, guns, Girls, guns, girls, guns. Thats all

End Rant/

586445356

Rock doesn't have guns, girls, and drugs? Hell, rock made guns, girls and drugs popular.

Come back to earth....

Some rap sucks...yes, but not the whole genre.

Just because someone doesn't like a form of music doesn't mean it sucks. How wonderfully typical

I was in no way saying mainstream.  But how do we predict what will be in the mainstream in the future by looking at trends in the underground and smaller venues.  Duh.

586445788

Because everything has there big break. Rock, Rap, R&B, Dance, Trance, Techno, etc. It will exposed to the media which then it will be destroyed and only few will know what is "real".

I walk round london, and the majority of the major underground clubs and artists are rap/hip-hop related!

586445797

This is very true, however I think it is hard to compare UK rap to american. It is very different and personally I find some of it quite enjoyable. But I find it very, very different.

This is the typical attitude and generalizations i've come to expect from many of the members around here.  You obviously know only what you see on MTV, which is a very small part of what is available out there.  Grow up, and do some actual thinking and research before you hit the post button.  Your comments are as ridiculous and brainwashed as if I had said that all metal music was about worshipping satan and was turning children into zombies so they would commit suicide. Or that all country music was about killing my wife and being sad because my dog died.

586445431

Amen.

586445806

Rap is rap, wether it comes from a different country, it's rap, it's music. That's like me saying "Oasis is the only alternative I listen to because it's UK rock, not US rock"

Glad someone mentioned Oasis. "We're mad for it, rock'n'roll, working class mad for it. Have you seen my new house in Hello magazine?".

Sellouts through and through - and they were the supposed leaders in the whole newer wave of rock bands. They freaking killed UK rock for a while.

Anyhow, they were guitar pop posing as rock! Marketing over musical ability!

I'm sick of all you ignorant people saying this - constantly! What is the point? What is your problem? I know majority of you are suburban, and I forgive you for that, but this is ridiculous.

Not music? So it doesn't fit YOUR definition of 'music', but to others it is music. Who are you to say what is/isn't music? As long as it has harmony/melody/rhythm, it is defined as 'music'. They are all artists and they have artistic liberty to express themselves as they wish.

Rap/ R&B music isn't all about guns, violence or girls. Rappers rhyme about what they've been through, or what they feel. A lot of them have come from turbulent backgrounds, so this is their way of coping with it.

And R&B? How ignorant can you get? R&B music covers every single emotion/situation. It is one of the most diverse (topic-wise). If you were more open-minded, I'd recommend Craig David's new release to you. Listen to some R&B. Repeated topics could be said for any genre. Metal and Anger? Emo and Heart-breaks? The list goes on...

Now, I'm not Rap fan myself. I listen to Rock music, however I appreciate every single genre of music. It's all art, and I guess it takes a level of class to be more forgiving to art.

586445703

I would have to agree with you there.

UK rap certainly seems a lot harder edged to American - but sometimes a lot more "fake" too.  Aghain, good UK rap is good, bad UK rap is bad!

586445813

True

Rap is rap, wether it comes from a different country, it's rap, it's music. That's like me saying "Oasis is the only alternative I listen to because it's UK rock, not US rock"

586445815

No it is different. Rap in the UK has not been spoiled by money hungry rich white guys in New York and Hollywood.

real music is u2, coldplay, even other alternate and hard rock and some pop music is original music like it was in the 90's but hip hop is all about bikini clad women shaking thier booty

586445434

LOL! you're funny!

You are not the sole judge on what is good for everyone. This is just your opinion, which is extremely far from fact.

I will admit, that I despise rap and hip-hop, but that doesn't mean that is just plain sucks. It may suck for you, but not for everyone.

I hate U2 and coldplay, and that is my opinion, not fact.

are you a programmer? if you are, then hopefully you'll understand this:

opinion != fact

As i'm typing, i'm listening to Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby, and if you pay attention to the lyrics, he talks about is girls, drugs, and violence, but you can see he doesn't repsent all of hip-hop now does he? This is pop music as its best.

and now you know why Vanilla ice was a one hit wonder among pop fans

    • The Light of Life? We actually do glow till our Death, study finds by Sayan Sen Image by Rafael Rendon via Pexels A study by researchers at the University of Calgary has found that living organisms produce an extremely faint light known as ultraweak photon emission, and that this glow appears to drop significantly after death. The research was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry in April 2025 and quickly drew widespread attention, leading to more than 200 news stories about the findings. Ultraweak photon emission (or UPE), sometimes called biophoton emission, refers to tiny amounts of light released by living cells as a result of normal biological activity. A photon is the basic particle of light, and researchers say every living system examined so far, including plants and animals, has been found to emit these photons. The glow is far too faint to be seen by the human eye. “I suppose it has a little to do with people being reminded of auras,” says Dr. Christoph Simon, PhD, one of the authors of the study and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Faculty of Science. “It is a fact that living beings glow. It’s a very weak glow, but it’s there and visible with very sensitive cameras.” According to the study, the light involved is extremely weak, ranging from 10 to 1,000 photons per square centimetre per second across a spectral range of 200 to 1,000 nanometres. For comparison, a nanometre is one-billionth of a metre and is commonly used to measure wavelengths of light. Detecting emissions at such low levels requires highly specialized equipment. To study the phenomenon, researchers used electron-multiplying charge-coupled device (EMCCD) and charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras. These imaging systems are designed to detect extremely small amounts of light, including individual photons, while minimizing background noise. The technology allowed researchers to capture signals that would otherwise be impossible to observe. The team worked with the Human Health Therapeutics Research Centre at the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) in Ottawa to examine photon emissions in mice. Researchers took two-hour exposure images of the animals before and after death and compared the results. “We saw that the level of light that they emit – this biophoton glow – is distinctly different between living and dead animals,” says Dr. Daniel Oblak, PhD, an associate professor in Physics and Astronomy and the corresponding author of the study. The images showed a clear decrease in photon emissions after death across the entire body of each mouse. According to the researchers, this provided direct evidence that living and dead tissue produce different levels of ultraweak photon emission. “It’s a very small amount and it’s, of course, very tricky to detect,” Oblak says. The study grew out of discussions between Simon, whose research interests include quantum biology, and Oblak, whose work focuses on detecting light for quantum communication experiments. Quantum biology is a field that explores whether processes described by quantum physics, which studies matter and energy at very small scales, may also play a role in living systems. “Since I work as a quantum physicist on light detection for quantum communication, I thought that experimentally we have a lot of the tools to be able to detect the light,” Oblak explains. The researchers also investigated UPE in plants and found that the light changed in response to stress. When plants were exposed to higher temperatures or physically injured, their photon emissions increased. Chemical treatments also affected the glow. Among the substances tested, the local anesthetic benzocaine produced the strongest emission response when applied to injured plant tissue. These findings suggest that ultraweak photon emission is closely linked to biochemical and metabolic activity inside living organisms. Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that allow cells and organisms to stay alive and function. Because these reactions change when an organism experiences stress, injury or disease, researchers believe UPE may provide a way to monitor those changes. The researchers stress that the glow is a physical and biological phenomenon, not a metaphysical one. Oblak says more research is needed to understand exactly how the light is produced and what information it may reveal about the condition of living tissue. “We must understand what that is to figure out what’s happening,” he says. “If we can understand how that relates to certain influences on the body – stress, diseases – then that could be used as a diagnostic tool.” The researchers believe the technique could eventually help scientists study health and disease without invasive procedures. Because UPE can be measured without adding dyes, markers or labels, it may offer a way to monitor whether tissue is healthy, damaged or alive. In plants, it could help researchers better understand how organisms respond to injury, heat and other forms of stress. While the work is still in its early stages, the study demonstrates that ultraweak photon emission imaging can provide a non-invasive and label-free way to observe biological activity. Researchers say the approach could become a useful tool for studying vitality, stress responses and other important processes in both animals and plants. • Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 by Razvan Serea Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need! Oh, and Rufus is fast. For instance it's about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer or Windows 7 USB download tool, on the creation of a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO (with honorable mention to WiNToBootic for managing to keep up). It is also marginally faster on the creation of Linux bootable USBs from ISOs. A non-exhaustive list of Rufus supported ISOs is available here. It can be especially useful for cases where: you need to create USB installation media from bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, UEFI, etc.) you need to work on a system that doesn't have an OS installed you need to flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS you want to run a low-level utility Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 changelog: Add RISC-V 64 support to UEFI:NTFS Improve the guards for using the "silent" option Improve the ability to cancel during write retries Improve progress reporting for compressed image extraction Fix unrestricted XML entity expansion and integer overflow in ezxml parser (courtesy of @esadowski4) [GHSA-55r2-34wg-8mv9] Fix "silent" Windows installation failing at 75% in most cases [#2960] Fix a crash during boot when using UEFI:NTFS on Snapdragon X based ARM64 platforms [#2934] Fix the first WUE option always being checked by default [#2965] Fix an infinite loop when using Windows ISOs that contain multiple WIMs Fix "Enable runtime UEFI media validation" checkbox not always being properly enabled Other WUE improvements/fixes for OneDrive removal and username validation (with thanks to @christian8641) [#2984, #2991] Download: Rufus 4.15 Beta 2 | 1.9 MB (Open Source) Links: Rufus Home Page | Project Page @GitHub | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • Tixati 3.43 by Razvan Serea Tixati is a free and easy to use BitTorrent client featuring detailed views of all seed, peer, and file transfer properties. Also included are powerful bandwidth charting and throttling capabilities, and a full DHT implementation. Tixati is one of the most advanced and flexible BitTorrent clients available. And unlike many other clients, Tixati contains NO SPYWARE, NO ADS, and NO GIMMICKS. Tixati portable version is meant to run on a USB flash drive or other portable media. It stores all its configuration files in the same folder as the executable binary files, and all file paths are stored in a format relative to the program executable folder. It is important you do not delete the "tixati_portable_mode.txt" file within the executables folder. This file is what triggers Tixati to run in portable mode. (The executable binaries are actually the same as the standard edition binaries.) When running the portable edition from a USB flash drive, especially one that is formatted in FAT16/FAT32, you may experience some lag when initially loading a new transfer. This is because initializing and allocating large files on flash-based media consumes a greater amount of time and resources compared to a conventional hard-drive. Tixati has the following features: detailed views of all aspects of the swarm, including peers, pieces, files, and trackers support for magnet links, so no need to download .torrent files if a simple magnet-link is available super-efficient peer choking/unchoking algorithms ensure the fastest downloads peer connection encryption for added security full DHT (Distributed Hash Table) implementation for trackerless torrents, including detailed message traffic graphs and customizable event logging advanced bandwidth charting of overall traffic and per-transfer traffic, with separate classification of protocol and file bytes, and with separate classification of outbound traffic for trading and seeding highly flexible bandwidth throttling, including trading/seeding proportion adjustment and adjustable priority for individual transfers and peers bitfield graphs that show the completeness of all downloaded files, what pieces other peers have available, and the health of the overall swarm customizable event logging for each download, and individual event logs for all peers within the swarm expert local file management functions which allow you to move files to a different partition
