Hiphop, Rap has destroyed Music

Recommended Posts

I love all types of music.

It doesn't mean people have to like anyones style of music or go on about how much they hate it..

nobody cares... I know I don't.

Personally over the years I have learned to appreciate the production of a song. I'm a big fan of Rap/Hip Hop but at the same time I think there's alot of material which is pretty awful. This isn't just the case with Rap though, alot of genres have their bad songs. I like what I like and whatever you like, well whatever.

I think the lyrical side of things you're on about 'guns and girls guns and girls' as you put it. there's alot of songs that go on about this but that doesn't mean all Rap is like this, there's some amazing songs out there from the heart stuff, really amazing lyrics put together with a great beat behind it. Songs that go on about the true facts of life. I like the real stuff, not the 'Lets get some Ho*s and pop ya with my AK' type songs.. cos well they aint really meaning much to me.

It's simple, don't listen to what you don't like. Listen to what you love.

I agree...in my opinion I believe that rap/hip-hop is the driving force behind most of the crimes in Toronto and other parts of the world. I know a lot of ppl are not going to agree with me on this one but here in Toronto the vast majority of ppl committing shootings do list to rap/hip-hop. I don?t see ppl that listen to rock music or classical or w/e going around shooting ppl in Toronto.

You don't see many shootings at Guvernment (on Saturdays), Boa, System Soundbar, or Republik now do yo;);) (all dance music clubs for those non-Torontonians)

Combined, we're looking at ... oh ... 5-7000 people through these clubs?

Yet how many shootings have there been at small clubs like Money (hip-hop club). Yeah, music does nothing for the crowd...riiiiigh;);)

Why the hell do people like this crap. this isnt even music. This is one of the reasons channels like MTV and VH1 have become like crap. There is no concept of Music in this genre, only sex, guns and voilence, thats it. Sure im into rock and alternative rock but the definition of music is demolished with this kind of crap. Why the hell do people listen to this and make it go to top of the charts. All the music of this genre has one damn theme. Girls, guns, Girls, guns, girls, guns. Thats all

You are seriously misguided on Hip-Hop. It is not music but a way to express yourself, and do not stereotype on what you hear on the radio that is NOT Hip-Hop. Listen to The Roots.

Report me:

You are the most ignorant sons of bitches I have ever seen. That's right IGNORANT SONS OF BITCHES. You are gonna sit there and knock Rap but promote emulating sacks of smeely dog ****e like Korn or Coldplay?

You might want to listen to some lyricism. How about you take your ass back to grand master flash and listen to the message. Oh wait. This thread was started by a retard teenager.

If this is what neowin has turned into, count me out.

Might as well add heavy metal for destroying music, bunch of doped up people worshping the devil. Wait that not true, just like hip hop and rap destroying music is not true. Your judging all of hip hop and rap on what? the top 10 that are played on the radio or music videos over and over from 50 Cents and horrible Eminem not looking at the whole community like Dilated Peoples, Mos Def,Talib Kweli ("get by" - one of my favorite songs), etc.

Side note: How many of you defend video games but are ok to blame rap for violence?

Maybe you should read through the entire thread there Mr. Musica Genius and see some of the educational references between different styles of music.  Oh but wait, your response was written by a pure 'retard' as you called the thread started.  Why waste my time typing this

That's so true, but music is a touchy subject. It really depends on what you grew up on and how you were raised. Suburban children and teens are more subject to listen to punk/pop/hip-pop while blacks/whites that grew up in places like Detroit (Me) tend to listen to lyrically hip-hop while the older whites from the suburbs listen to classic rock from the 60-70s.

yap, agree,RAP SUX,for example, nike changed al the target segment to hiphoppers and rappers,in the world, because there are too many, and they saw it as a more profitable merket segment, remeber those old days, when nike launched and launched those classic models, everyone loved nike

-sigh-

I agree I don't think rap can even be considered as a music genre. It's a last degradation of human civilization. It's one of the reasons that people are becoming dumber and dumber.

Yeah, five syllable words in rymes that tell a story mainly using metaphors is very simple. Get over it Higher Learning boy. Oh and go die while you are at it. The human race would be better without people like you.

Oh yes, hip hop is all violence and rock music is all great?

Let's step a bit back in time shall we....

Oh look, its the same people from this thread saying how violent hip hop is, laughing at rock fans being violent towards 50 cent.

Hypocritical, much?

ya umm shut the h3ll up and stop generalzing about things like how rap has ruined music and its all about sex guns and girls. ever hear about Talib Kweli? Mos Def? Common? De la Soul? even Kanye West talks alot about religion, ok maybe alot of new poppy stuff llike 50 cent is all about that but dont go saying hip hop and rap has ruined music... and everyone is entitled to their own opinion so dont say it like its fact that rap sucks. I hate people like you who dont even listen to the music and say its garbage.. hey why dont you listen a little bit further then a few swear words and realize this IS music just like any other genre

Just a further note to my earlier post (buried a few pages ago, this is a rapid thread) that music isn't all about lyrics. I know this especially as I am an artist specialising in trance. (Stop groaning.) Melodicism is just as, if not, more important in the order of qualities I assess when judging a piece of music.

Wow you sound like a very mature person to me. I could say that the world would be a better place without ignorant people like you, but I got into a bit of trouble for saying this in a different post, and plus you are not even worth my time and effort.

Well if everyone is entitled to their own opinion, then why is it wrong for me to say that rap sux. It's my opinion as well.

Oh and this topic should be closed due to insanely high levels of flaming and name calling.

Oh plenty was read there hoss...  Besides, who are you to me again?

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Hoss

1. Hoss

A southern colloquial nickname for partner, a term of friendship.

You betta' get that grass mowed, hoss.

Sorry... I still don't really get it. Who am I to you? Nobody, just an internet screenname of a person who can hide behind the annonymity of the computer screen.

Or, if you would like to see who I am visit my myspace profile page at http://www.myspace.com/chris_allen although I warn you, considering it may have a style of music you might not be accustomed to... hoss.

I love good hip-hop/rap, especially some of the fusion styles that have come from it. However, I will agree with the topic starter because the commerical hip-hop / R&B you see in the charts is a disgrace (Twista, Kanye West, Akon, [insert generic black guy from the "hood"] - it is all about over-the-top jewelery, big chrome jeeps, girls/hoes/pimps, guns, etc. At the same time I dislike all this emo/alternative music where everything is "no-one understands me" and "no-one's ever had their heart broken like me" and "how can I continue without you".

The thing is, at the end of the day, people are buying the music in the charts because they like it. That's the worrying thing... not that the artists are so stereotypical and devoid of talent, but that people actually want that from music.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

Quick links: Windows 10 and 11 Windows Insider Program Updates are available Reviews are in Gaming news Great deals to check Windows 11 and Windows 10 Here, we talk about everything happening around Microsoft's latest operating system in the Stable channel and preview builds: new features, removed features, controversies, bugs, interesting findings, and more. And, of course, you may find a word or two about older versions. Windows 11 version 26H2 is now official. Alongside Windows 11's new preview builds released this week, Microsoft confirmed version 26H2, which is coming later this year as an enablement package based on the same platform as versions 24H2 and 25H2. A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. Windows Insider Program Here is what Microsoft released for Windows Insiders this week: Builds Canary Channel Builds 28120.2315 and 29613.1000 These two builds include a new built-in audio driver, improvements to audio Settings, and more. Dev Channel Builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690 Not much is available here. Some File Explorer improvements, Start menu enhancements, bug fixes, and more. However, build 26300.8697 is now officially marked as version 26H2. Updates are available This section covers software, firmware, and other notable updates (released and coming soon) delivering new features, security fixes, improvements, patches, and more from Microsoft and third parties. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. Both devices feature little to no visual differences compared to their predecessors from 2024, and most changes hide inside, including a better processor, faster graphics, enhanced NPUs, and more. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Files, one of the best file managers for Windows 10 and 11, has been updated in the Preview channel with a long-requested feature. Tree View is finally available in version 4.1.4, allowing you to quickly browse deeply nested folders without leaving the main view. In addition, the update improved the Windows Fonts folder, allowing you to preview each font without opening the default viewer. Rufus, another useful Windows 11 utility, also received a notable update. Version 4.15 arrived as beta with important fixes for silent Windows 11 installation. It also includes patches for ARM-based Windows PCs, OneDrive removal improvements, and more. Here are other updates and releases you may find interesting: Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth Microsoft now allows you to tweak Visual Studio to new extremes Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations Microsoft will finally let you sign in to Edge with a Google account Here are the latest drivers and firmware updates released this week: NVIDIA 610.62 with support for Empulse and various fixes. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers. Those include EA Sports FC 26, Junkster, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Abyssus, RV There Yet?, and more. Some existing games are leaving the catalog, so be sure to check out the full list here. New games are also available for GeForce NOW subscribers, and they include Embers of the Uncrowned Demo, Aphelion, Megastore Simulator, OPERATOR, Citizen Sleeper, and more. Rockstart Games had plenty of GTA-related news this week. For one, the company gave GTA V players another free update. Those still playing the game on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are no longer required to pay $40 to upgrade to the latest-gen version. More importantly, Rockstar Games revealed the GTA VI cover art and announced the preorder date. The Epic Games Store is giving away two games: Citizen Sleeper and Roboeat.
