Here is a list of things to do:

1) Enable WPA-PSK using TKIP encryption. - This gives you the best access control for a home setup. Make sure your clients support this otherwise you must use WEP. You password protect your AP so a password must be entered to connect. I reccomend using a passphrase of at least 20 characters including numbers and symbols.

2) Enable MAC filtering and add your wireless computers to the trusted list.

3) Change your SSID to not default. Also you may consider turning off the broadcasting of the SSID.
