asaki
its over clockable...just not that well. i have a similar set up to yours: P4 2.8HT northwood 512k 512x2 corsair value/512x2mushkin green @ 2.75v msi neo2pls 865p i can get it upto 3.15ghz just by raising FSB only. i havent tried messing with voltages and all that stuff yet, i dont trust myself as i will probably fry it in some manner. generally for overclocking you will need high performance memory modules, standard memory can only go so far. hope i answered any questions  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/371370-p4-28ht-overclockable/#findComment-586516530 Share on other sites

I have the same processor with an Asus P4C800-Deluxe, and can get it up to 3.4-3.5GHz with a minor voltage boost (around 1.55V), with memory ratio at 5:3. Morgan
I believe I used to have that chip, and I got it upto 3.2GHz. I know I had a P4 2.8GHz w/HT that I overclocked that high, don't know if it was the same one though. Circaflex
Yes it is  just take a look at mine :) I was able to boot up at 270 fsb with default voltage, what stepping is your chip? (Use CPU-Z). Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/371370-p4-28ht-overclockable/#findComment-586516679 Share on other sites
Bei337
0_o Wow Circaflex, that is CRAZY! I'd be happy if I can overclock mine to 3G or 3.2G, since I don't have water cooling, just a case fan and a CPU stock fan. Now the problem is.. I don't know how to overclock it! My mobo is kinda weird...don't know how to overclock my CPU, it's a P4SD-LA, it came with a HP pavilion a367c, but I think it's the samething as P4SDX. Do I need to change the jumpers or something to be able to oc? p.s. and I think I have the same CPU as Circaflex's, look at his signature. Afroman
hers my mobo info.. as for a mobo that was in an HP.. good luck. those mobos are not oc friendly at all.. on mine it;s all done in bios. neoadorable
circaflex and others: how does one change this fsb setting, and also the memory ratio? would be good to know. thx Lee Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/371370-p4-28ht-overclockable/#findComment-586522161 Share on other sites
neoadorable
ok did the fsb tweak thru abit's softmenu in the bios setup, but once changed from 204.8 to 220 the computer refused to boot and provide a signal to the monitor. after a few attempts it did load up, but promptly stopped, telling me the cpu was unworkable (error 80 or sth) and that i had to go to softmenu to sort it out. what gives? did i do something wrong? thx Lee Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/371370-p4-28ht-overclockable/#findComment-586526635 Share on other sites

neoadorable
myxamatosis, thank you. you mean i can use abit's softmenu to change voltage? change to what? and the memory i know can be altered there. what do you mean less aggressive timings? muchos gracias Lee Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/371370-p4-28ht-overclockable/#findComment-586529213 Share on other sites
Circaflex
i wouldnt use any in-windows program, use the bios unless abits softmenu is the bios and im just a retard.
