P4 2.8HT Overclockable?

Recommended Posts

its over clockable...just not that well.

i have a similar set up to yours:

P4 2.8HT northwood 512k

512x2 corsair value/512x2mushkin green @ 2.75v

msi neo2pls 865p

i can get it upto 3.15ghz just by raising FSB only. i havent tried messing with voltages and all that stuff yet, i dont trust myself as i will probably fry it in some manner.

generally for overclocking you will need high performance memory modules, standard memory can only go so far.

hope i answered any questions

Not that well? I have the same processor with an Asus P4C800-Deluxe, and can get it up to 3.4-3.5GHz with a minor voltage boost (around 1.55V), with memory ratio at 5:3.

Wow Circaflex, that is CRAZY!

I'd be happy if I can overclock mine to 3G or 3.2G, since I don't have water cooling, just a case fan and a CPU stock fan.

Now the problem is.. I don't know how to overclock it! My mobo is kinda weird...don't know how to overclock my CPU, it's a P4SD-LA, it came with a HP pavilion a367c, but I think it's the samething as P4SDX.

Do I need to change the jumpers or something to be able to oc?

p.s. and I think I have the same CPU as Circaflex's, look at his signature.

i meant that the cpu wont overclock that well in his system, because if you look at his system specs i seriously doubt you will get a 600-700mhz boost using corsair value select memory modules. also the OP said the mobo came from an HP, so chances are he wont be able to overclock unless he flashes the bios , and thats just if. now im just speculating but is the OP new at overclocking? because if he is, im sure mesing with something like voltages(if he goes to high) he will end up frying that chip.

I was running at 270fsb on air for the longest time, and got a few more out of it on water, invest in a nice heatsink and you should see some nice result, my stepping is the M0 look below that number and it should have a letter and number.

ok did the fsb tweak thru abit's softmenu in the bios setup, but once changed from 204.8 to 220 the computer refused to boot and provide a signal to the monitor. after a few attempts it did load up, but promptly stopped, telling me the cpu was unworkable (error 80 or sth) and that i had to go to softmenu to sort it out. what gives? did i do something wrong?

thx

CPU: Intel Pentium 4HT, 2800MHz (14x200)

Mobo: Asus P4SD-LA

Mobo chipset: Intel Springdale-G i865G

RAM: Corsair ValueSelect 2x512 PC3200

My CPU usually runs at ~40C

So is this overclocable?  What else do u need to know?

You processor may need a higher voltage, you may need to run your memory in 5:4 ratio or use less agressive timings, etc.

FSB 220Mhz = DDR440 (220Mhz too)
