Dreamweaver 8 all new version just came out today. theres a 1 month trial on their site. I would suggest Dreamweaver, only thing is im not sure how newbie friendly it is.

As for a website making program that makes flash, you can use Flash 8 to make the flash and put it in your site or you can use dreamwevaer for some basic flash buttons and such. I dont think theres many if any other website programs that will make flash.

I would suggest Dreamweaver however it is not beginner friendly. I learned Dreamweaver by trial & errir (LOTS of errors) therefore - I just use what I need.

It is straight forward and easy to link to other pages, make links out of pictures, words or anything for that matter. Its real easy to add code for a web counter, web page weather link, etc. It supports all web languages and it is WYSIWYG

However - I see that NVU is a free editor I am going to try it out. Dreamweaver is costly unless you can aquire a copy somewhere

Good luck

I am using for quite some times and if you buy it, the full version has 20 fantastic templates

Web Page Maker is an easy-to-use web page editor that allows you to create and upload web pages in minutes without knowing HTML. Simply drag and drop objects onto the page and position them freely in the layout. It comes with several pre-designed templates that help you to get started. It also includes ready-to-use navigation bars that can be inserted into the page. Additional features include built-in color picker, Java script library, image library and built-in FTP client.

Do not use Frontpage to design your pages if you want anyone to treat them with respect. Frontpage has a terrible reputation.

Dreamweaver's better, though it's more of a professional-level editor, the de-facto standard of pros.

If you need a WYSIWYG editor, use Nvu. It's free and produces valid code. The best way, though, is to hand-code (most of, at least) your pages. I use Notepad2 for that.

I would avoid this program. It is very newbie friendly but is also very limited in what it can do. Check out this review to get a better idea of what I mean.

I'd suggest something like SiteSpinner, which is very powerful, has good documentation and a very active user community. It's only $50 for two licenses right now.

A friend of mine that does web design uses Namo WedEditor. He says it is a cross between FrontPage and Dreamweaver. It's a whole suite with a graphics editor, etc. However, browsing their forums it seems that product support is virtually non-existant. It is my understanding that v5.5 was much more stable that the two newest versions so if you can find that at a discount store, etc. that may be the way to go. I found it for about $15 online last year. The clipart gallery included is probably worth that.

If you're needing something free check out Nvu or WYSIWYG Web Builder.

I know the comment that I am about to give you is a bit off topic.

But I use to be on the same boat as you. Finding a program that can actually make a website for me. But it's better to do it by hand (all by yourself). I know, it's a struggle at first, but you will get use to it.

By the way, the programs that they posted in this thread are great! Try one at first, but after that, try it yourself by hand. Analyze the codes and know what they mean.

Be sure you know how to use CSS and HTML properly.

If you want to be inspired by websites, try http://www.oswd.org/, http://www.csszengarden.com/, and much more!

PS: a good web editor is notepad2! It's the best!
