Hi. We have a Windows 2000 Domain, running....sigh....active directory.

I love login scripts, because you can do so much with them. Anyway, in order to set a login script, you have to select each user and tell it the script.

Is there any way for everyone to run a general script? That way, I dont have to change all 257 users?

Any tips or tweaks are appreciated.

You can do it with a group policy. Just create a new group policy object and link somewhere in your domain (at your user's OU or your computer's OU, or if you want it to effect everything put it at the top level). Then edit the group policy to add the login script(s) you want. You can set login scripts for users or startup scripts for computers. Startup scripts are better for things that need local admin rights (because they run with system authority), user scripts are good for things like mapping drives and other user related stuff.

If you have not already done so, install the Windows 2003 (works with 2000 too) admin pack and group policy manager on your XP workstation. There is also a really nice new tool for better managing group policies.

PS. it is best to use group policy settings as much as you can and only use scripts when you have to. GPOs apply faster and are much easier to use, and in some cases do a better job.
