+allan MVC Posted September 20, 2005 MVC Share Posted September 20, 2005 There has to be something after "\config". Assuming the corrupt hive is the "system" hive, you would do the following: Boot to the XP CD and select R (Recovery Console) At the command prompt type: ren c:\windows\system32\config\system system.old copy c:\windows\repair\system c:\windows\system32\config Reboot If it's another hive, just substitute it for the word "system" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/374919-system32-config-error-help/#findComment-586555290 Share on other sites

k22
once in the bios, there should be a boot menu across the top. use the arrows on the keyboard to get to the boot menu. down arrow to first boot device, enter key, choose CD-ROM drive. No you dont have to change it back unless you care about the 1-2 secs it may add to your boot time Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/374919-system32-config-error-help/#findComment-586555608 Share on other sites
