my mac runs osx...just about and its a 333mhz (was 300 till i overcloked it tday). if u have a ati page pro with 16mb or ram though in ure imac itle prob do beter then my computer though

i am pertty much set on buying a mac, probably this week some time. if i do, i have decided to buy the eMac, but there is still part of me that would like to have that nice little iBook. the thing is i dont need a laptop at all.

can anyone come up with a good reason for me to get the ibook over the eMac? the iBook is only a g3.

i do already have a kick ass pc with a 19" perfectflat

Hey Bling how much is the SonnetTech upgrade? I upgraded my 7100 with a NewerTech Maxpowr a few years ago and it still runs great. It's too bad NewerTech went out of business though as I think they made good upgrades. I'm still considering a Crescendo 400mhz for my 7100, it still has some life in it yet. :)

Isn't that pretty close to what Timan is using? You might ask him about the performance. Aside from being very RAM hungry, OSX benefits from a videocard with at least 16 VRAM. Does your iMac use the 8 or 16 meg vid ?

#3: Ordered the iBook today @ 700mhz 256mb ram 20gig HD DVD/CD-RW drive

#5: Get iBook, play with it, ignore girlfriend

I don't have a Mac, but i really want the new iMacs. 17" with 800mhz and GF4 MX. Do the Macs video cards run the same as the Pcs video card, like is a GF4 for a Mac the same as for a pc? One day i'll be owning a Mac, and i hope it's gonna be very soon:D .

It's the same card, but of course it uses a different driver. Not sure if the current drivers are as optimised as the ones used for PC's.

The cards use different firmwares too. I guess it's cause of the different processor architectures.

They are flashable though. Users at macnn bought the PC version of the Radeon 8500 and flashed it and it works fine on their powermacs.

You'd also need an DVI to ADC adapter if you wanted to use one of the rather nice Apple flat screen monitors.

i'm in the pretty large percent of people that don't have one and want one. i'd kill for a powerbook, but i'd be extremely happy with an iBook.
