True, i've noticed that with android as well.

Though there is a fair few crappy widgets for iOS as well. The widget on the bottom of my screen i've heavily customized and tweaked and configured myself, put about a days worth of effort into it alone so far.

I too had Android for a few weeks before I switched to the iPhone and I also noticed this.

It's not even that I mind putting work into it by myself, I love manually tweaking my iPhone, just with my G1 and Android I never figured out how to manually tweak anything there.

On the iPhone it's as simple as SSH into the phone and alter the files, when I asked for the Android procedure the only reply I got: "Unpack the ROM, alter it and reflash your phone"

Seriously for an open OS this seems quite a tedious way of editing stuff, why can't I simply access the file system?

I have always said Android is just a cluttered mess. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my Galaxy S, but I also loved the cleanliness of iOS so much more.

Ehh, sort of but not necessarily. Android has the Linux style of thinking to an extent, and that's functionality over form, which I do appreciate. However, there are those who make beautiful themes and widgets for Android as well. You just have to spend a little more time getting things set up. That's the issue with customizability. You may be able to change your theme in every detail, but you may have to do a little more work for it. I've seen some amazing looking Android themes, but I myself haven't done anything too incredible.

iOS is very nice and simplistic though. I love iOS and the iPhone, I just wanted to have more to play with (like the kernel development work I've done), so I moved to Android. I'm certainly not disappointed one bit, but I do miss my iPhone 4 at times.

nope thats the sense UI no launcher atm its the theme that came with the rom

Not so sure I like the wallpaper, and I need to fix my Facebook icon since I ditched the app and went to just a bookmark to touch.facebook.com until Google or Facebook improves the app, as it sucks.

I loved the grunge style icons being used over at XDA so this'll be my new desktop for a while smile.gif The circular icon near the bottom in the centre is a modded version of LockScreenWidget if anyone wants it.

    • Wow, imagine you dump hundreds of hours into completing things and unlocking stuff and you lose it all. Back in the day when cheats were built into games, you could at least unlock things again that way without spending hundreds of hours again. But those days are long gone for some reason as no one builds cheats into games anymore. So it's even more painful that studio that's on its 6th installment **** it up so badly.
    • Spotify finally removes the disco ball app icon in the latest update by Ivan Jenic Image: Spotify Spotify has just released an update that removes its now infamous disco ball icon. The update reverts the app icon to the familiar flat green logo after weeks of mixed reactions online. The icon arrived on May 13 as part of the company's 20th anniversary celebration and was always intended to be temporary, though Spotify only confirmed that after the backlash started. The disco ball took the internet by storm, as the reception was split. A vocal group of users called it ugly and disorienting, with some iOS users noting that the 3D glowing effect made the app look like it was stuck mid-update. On the other end, the icon picked up a following of its own. Its retro, three-dimensional look immediately stood out against the flat, minimalist aesthetic that has dominated app design for years. It even started a small movement, spawning what people started calling "discomorphism," a mashup of disco and skeuomorphism. Other brands started posting disco ball versions of their own logos, probably in an effort to ride the wave of memes that flooded the internet during late May. Spotify has had a turbulent relationship with its user base lately. Besides the disco ball icon, which certainly wasn't appreciated by everyone, the company has also received backlash for its willingness to include AI-generated music on its platform. On May 17, Spotify promised the old icon would return “in a few weeks.” And now it looks like that time has finally arrived. So, whether you liked the disco ball or it made you uncomfortable, it’s now gone for good. The next time you update the Spotify app on your phone, the old, flat-design icon will return.
