Maxthon problem/question - tabs saving

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have a question/problem with Maxthon..

Where are the last opened tabs/browser windows in Maxthon saved/backuped?

(like Opera it does..)

How can I access them and how can I reopen all the tabs in Maxthon?

Is there a way to bring them back, or doesn't backup Maxthon this session-files of opened tabs??!

thx and best regards,

iNsuRRecTiON

Hmm.. Your last 15 closed tabs are saved in Program Files\Maxthon\Config\Dynamic.ini ..

You can reopen the last closed tab by pressing Undo Button .. If its not visible, you can bring it back by View > Toolbar > Customize menu ..

You can also configure Maxthon to reopen last closed session when you start it ..

Options > Maxthon Options > Start Page > Resume Last visited pages ..

As many as you like:

1. close maxthon

2. open config.ini in notepad

3. add MaxUndo=30 (or any number) below [settings]

Hey,

thx, ok, but now its too late :(

As standard Maxthon defines 15, thats too low :( *cry*

I had 20-25 open tabs, but now I have only access to the last 15 :(

Where does Maxthon stores it configuration files, etc.?

Only in the main program folder or any files in document and settings?

Is there a hope that I get these tabs back? -.-

Please help me, why Maxthon backup such important session files (of last opened tabs/browser windows, etc.), like it Opera does?!! :(

I thought Maxthon ask me again, if I click on cancel (for the question, whether I want to open the tabs from the last session again..), but next startup time there is all gone and no question from Maxthon for these tabs :(

Avant Browser do it better, they ask you every time you restart Avant, whether you want to open the last opened tabs, until you click on the checkbox "Don't ask me again, or don't show this again..".

Even if you click on cancel..

So there are only one cpg file, Maxthon.cpg, but without any url entry/tab entry :(

And the last 15 tabs are too few, I want all back, so please help, thx again..

Hey,

ok, but if I can't get back these tabs/opened browser windows, I will never use Maxthon again!

As I already say, I will use better Avant instead, because they use the last session opened tabs carefully and don't let it all gone :(

bye

Have you considered looking in your history, or have you cleared it since then?

Hey,

too much of work, the history is too huge!

It requieres hours to find my websites in this history and the history of IE is bad, because not all websites are shown there..

And every day there will be more and more history entries and the history filter function is very bad!

Dynamic.ini inside the config folder. To backup all user data, you can backup the config folder and the group folder.

Unfortunately no. Maxthon does not keep a separate history and so the last opened tabs are kept only for one section.

You do know there is a search feature in Maxthon for the History?

lool?

for what shall I search for?

I don't remember the most of the 20-25 opened tabs, so I need them back, I can't search for what I don't know/remember!

So, as you say that, Maxthon saves every open browser tab in Maxthon when shutting down Maxthon in the dynamic.ini file?

So nothing is stored elsewhere or in the registry?

So I have to look into the dynamic.ini file for all the URLs of the last opened and automatically saved tabs in Maxthon?

I ask because I thought, only the last 15 opened urls are stored in dynamic.ini file, but you say all is stored therein..

Note, Maxthon offers you the option at exit, to save all opened tabs browser windows (urls of them) and ask you to reopen them at the next startup of maxthon..(and these info are stored into the dynamic.ini, too..?!)

thx and best regards,

In history there is only the filtering of: today, last week and 2 weeks ago available, nothing more and so, its very difficult to find my 20-25 opened tabs..

And in addition if I click on "last week" nothing happens, no entry is shown, but if I click on 2 weeks ago, thousend, ok maybe hundred entries are shown.. -.-

When you close maxthon, all opened tabs are automatically stored in dynamic.ini under [LastVisit]. This is good for the next time you start maxthon.

But in the exit confirmation dialog, you have another option to save the opened tabs as a Group permanently. Groups are stored in cgp files inside the Groups folder. You can open any Group or any individual url in a Group from maxthon's Groups menu.

Hey,

ok, but now the section [LastVisit] is gone and I have already scanned/searched with an forensic tool, but I found nothing :(

Do you have any tip for me, how I can get those URLs/TABs?

thx and best regards,

It could be a little easier to find the pages back from IE history with IEhistoryView.

    • The power of brand recognition is that you can give people really bad deals compared to your competitors, and people love it. Nvidia knows the importance of keeping its spot at the top of the hill on the high end—and sponsoring tons of exclusives for apps and games to use its exclusive technology to further entrench its place at the very top. That way, they can sell its low-end stuff for higher profit margins and provide less value, and people will buy it in droves just to own a piece of their name. AMD and Intel really need to do something remarkable with their CPUs+GPU that Nvidia can't compete with only being a GPU maker and not having access to both sides. With AMDs massive threadrippers if they could bring one down to customer level and allow dynamic offloading of GPU tasks onto unused CPU cores on AMD systems that could have some interesting results.

    • Vivaldi needs more resources, but that's understandable when they build another GUI on top of the existing chromium GUI. Having 1 more GUI loaded will obviously need more resources. Btw they do an amazing job considering how big their development team is. The 2nd GUI they add is very lightweight. Unfortunately there is no way to disable the existing chromium GUI, it's not something possible in chromium and both will have to be loaded, so more resources will be needed than just loading 1 GUI. It's about priorities, if you want a chromium browser to be a customization powerhouse (even CSS customization of the GUI is possible in Vivaldi like Firefox supports), it will need more resources because another GUI will have to be added on top of the existing chromium GUI. Vivaldi is a chromium browser for power users and usually power users buy new faster hardware all the time so they don't even notice if it needs more resources than a chromium browser which just changes some stuff like styling, colors and icons in the existing chromium GUI.
