GNU/Linux October 2005 Desktops

Recommended Posts

It's been ages since I bothered to post any screenshot so this is kind of a milestone for me.

This is my current Ubuntu install which I am using to muck around with Mono development, and I'm also using it to bask in Ubuntu 5.10 greatness.

Running Clearlooks with a background called "Basse Ubuntu" from Gnome-Look.org and the "nuoveXT-1.5" icon set.

There is a lot of work gone into this. Basically it's desktop for young children and very inexperienced users. (Hence all the simplified names).

Trying to follow the rules somewhat:

Walpaper: Tux-Pirate (Modded).

Icon theme: nuoveXT and a hogpodge of others - some of which I made myself.

Window decorations compiled from Linspire Clear.

Colour scheme taken from Suse 10.

It's a pity my desktop is going to live for such a short while here. Still it isn't quite finished yet, so I may resubmit it when it is.

What can I say, this week and especially today have put me into a really dark mood as of late:

Although my background changes itself every 15 minutes...but I was especially fond of the blackness of that screenshot.

CoplandOS is a terrific (if not the best) gkrellm skin for mostly-black desktops. Nice choice.

    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.
