2006 Corvette Z06

ok as far as this comment goes... its so true

the people who buy the z06 will not use the car the way it was designed.

People will buy it cause its a z06 and has the performance they dream very man needs.

How many will take a corner at 1g... or take it to a track. how many vette owners you see flying down the highway going 190? infact most owners cruise at 60 or less!

ive only see 1 vette owner take off and that was cause we were the only ones on the road! good job GM you made a car men dream of.. but will never use its potential!

The Sagaris is a beautiful car compared to the "American Crap" or whatever someone called it...but you can't buy them here in America (to my knowledge). Besides that there is about a $25,000 price difference and both do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. I'm not saying I love the design or the car in general (not a corvette fan) but it packs more punch for the money...

Actualy here in the UK its arround the same price and yeah it does punch a little more top end at 190mph of the sagaris 180mph. I hope it does too having a engine twice the size of the sagaris ( 4.0l v8 400bhp). One thing I think the sagaris has over the vet is the fact the chassi was designed by the people behint the nobel M14 and thats pprob the best handeling car in the world. Shame vet havent updated there chassy and re-placed there 19th century leaf springs ..... lol leaf springs !

I like it, but if I was gonna drop cash on a car of that nature I would be hookin up a Saleen S281 Extreme. Specs on paper show that the S281 Extreme would smoke it. The S281 SC might even win, it would definitely be a close one...

Yeah but your forgetting that the Vette is doing this all motor, no power adders, that American auto-makers at their best, just look at the 5.7l hemi, the 6.1l hemi, the cummins, etc. they are all amazingly powerful and practical. Did you know that both the new vette and the z06 beat the gas-guzzler tax that you must pay on most v8's such as mustangs.

I don't hate corvettes, it's just that I wouldn't buy one, or accept one as a gift.

I just don't like American cars in general.

German or Japanese is the way to go.

586638594[/snapback]

Bah, i love American Muscle cars!!!

2006 Corvette Z06 could beat many german cars.

am i alone on this...

...

the new design looks like they ripped off a ferrarri for the front end.. its not the fastest thing on the street.. with that price tag, i'd rather buy a mustang cobra.

No you are not alone. But the corvette is an american legend, and it is still sexy as heck.

skeet skeet

Well, the Corvette is a high-performance car. I'm not saying it's not fast, I'm saying that I don't like it in general.

There aren't really any American cars that I like.

The only one I can think of is the Ford GT

corvette Z06 owns the new viper! viper uped its horse to 515HP, and it ran slower 12.2 in a quarter. and the Z06 runs a 11.5! oh my ****ing god, a V8 just kicked a V10's ass... how can this be?! sell the viper.... buy a Z06. the new vette owns all even the s281 extrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeme saleen which does a 12.1!

what is it about the corvette that makes people go bannanas? i don't get it.

Yes, you're alone. It's not the fastest thing on the street? You're right, it's not when you compare it to exotic sports cars that are 2 and sometimes 3 times the price.

However, it's a hell of a lot faster and more refined than your Mustang Cobra.

 I have to disagree with that statement, look at any L88 corvete, they have much more HP than the newer ones and were designed to be a pure muscle car, granted they don't have the handling the newer ones have, but they certainly had the HP. If I could afford a '68 L88, I would buy it in a second, but they are going for around $250,000 and up depending on condition, but it would be hard to find one, as they only made a total of 216 from '67 thru '69. but I'd rather have that than a newer one. :D . plus it was made the year I was born, so maybe I'm a little partial to that year, and that was when they changed the body style to the newer sexier one. I've been obsessed with the L88 series even since I started to drive.

OT: Does anyone know what year they didn't make a corvette? I remember when I worked for a parts store, when things got slow, we would call other parts stores and ask for parts for that year, and would get "I don't have a listing for that year vette", and we would say "Are you telling me that I don't have a **** sitting in my driveway that needs an alternator, or whatever part. lol.

You're forgetting something though. L88 Corvettes do NOT "have much more HP than the newer ones..." They have less.

Corvettes and most cars were rated as GROSS HP in 1967, 1968 and 1969 - the three years that the L88 Corvette was built. Today's Corvette is rated SAE NET HP - not Gross. SAE Net is a much more accurate rating than the Gross HP rating which is why all automobiles are now rated as Net and not Gross. Therefore, the SAE NET HP of the L88 Corvette would be less than it's published GROSS HP.

The 2006 Z06 Corvette is running at 505 SAE NET HP. GM is stating that the Z06 is the fastest Corvette ever built. They are 100% accurate in that statement. It's also the most powerful Corvette to ever come off the Corvette production line.

The only year a Corvette was not built was 1983.

I totally disagree. You need to go to some Corvette events, and general autocrossing and racing events to see all the Corvette owners that come out.

And while you're congratulating GM For making a car that men dream of but will never use its potential, you might as well congratulate Dodge for creating the Viper, Ferrar, Lamborghini, Porsche, Lotus, Mercedes (McLaren SLR)....the list goes on....

ahh the mustang, the new style is ok but the old style looks a bit feminine to me. When i see a guy drive a red mustang all i think of is "chick car" (the red really brings out the "chick" in it). I pick Corvette over the Mustang because everybody seems to be driving a mustang thinking they are cool.

LOL Corvette is only 0.2 sec faster in acceleration or some thing and both cars have nearly same top speed of 190mph and Viper has 500BHP not 515BHP

    • Well I've done a grand total of nothing, and it now clocks between 2010mhz and 1995mhz (stock is 1710mhz) and hovers around 80c, warmer than it used to, but tolerable clocks seem to have returned. Thanks for all the advice on this thread. Will review the evidence and make a choice.

    • I really wonder if this has to do with the built in VPN or "private DNS" of browsers that trip up legal requirements like cookie consent and Cloudflare (to avoid all the botnet attacks we get). And BTW some botnets still manage to get past Cloudflare, we are constantly having to tweak it to block malicious traffic that ultimately cause a DDoS.
