Wot was ur 1st car

Recommended Posts

First car was a Peugeot 205 Trio with an enormous 1.0 litre engine.

Now on to a 1994 2.0 16v Corrado - they never bought em out in the USA - basically looks the same as the other Corrado's but the engine isn't as much fun - mine only pushes out 144BHP compared with the 190BHP or so from the VR6 version.

My first real car as in I paid for it was a Honda Prelude (1998)2.2VTEC 4WS (wheel steer).

Really sweet car, only 250BHP but it would cruise at 140 (limited to) and 0-60 in 4 secs. Maybe a little under 4.

I think your stopwatch is broken.

My first car is not a car at all - a 98 Jeep Cheeroke. I liked it more before I replaced the suspension...but oh well.

I thought 'stangs were first brought out in '65? Oh well...sounds like a cool car. :)

Mine was a 1978 yellow 4-dr Plymouth Volare', powder blue slant 6 225 hp, just had AM radio, ps, no power brakes, calf-sh*t yellow cloth/vinyl interior, 4-60 a/c (4 windows down at 60mph). Got it in April 1980 and drove it to death. It was a REALLY cool car. Had my 1st accident in it and also got my 1st speeding ticket in it. I saw one just like it the other day *sigh*.

The rest were '84 white 2 dr Dodge Aries, '86 2-dr Dodge Aries, and now my beautiful 1998 forest green 4-dr Dodge Stratus.

wow 250hp??? the 2002 models put out under 200...I can''t imagine they would go _down_ in power....

honda makes the S2000 @ 250hp IIRC, and the only things above that are the Acuras (TL type S and NSX I think) but 'Ludes have never been that high.

4WS was a cool idea though. certainly beats the pants offa my '87 Plymouth Sundance....

i wish i could have lived in the day where at my price range a mustange, or other nice would have been available... my first(sort of) car was an '85 caprice classic... big ol' car... rear wheel drive... i loved it.. it was given to me by my father with the speculation of "if you can fix it, you can keep it", well it was too expensive to fix.. so i got rid of it...next i bought an '89 cutlass sierra.. had a lot of balls, and was sturdy.. a guy rear ended me, and i busted up his lights, and his front quarter panel... my trailer hitch got ben't 1'4" :p:D:P.. next i bought an '84 celebrity station wagon (shaggin' wagon... back seat folds forwards to make a bed, or bed folds up to make rear facing seats in the back) from my grandma (i was desperate) still driving it, but it is ready to die.. so in 3 cars i have spent a total of $350 :p:D:P i am soon to but a '91 LeSabre with 220k on it from my uncle though.. prolly will cost me $500-$1000 :p:D:P

pink stickered??? explain... but the dune buggy thing would be cool :D

in nz cops put a pink sticker on ur windscreen if they think its dangorous, no ones allowed to drive it untill its been through a vehicle testing station. that cost $400, i bought it for $1300 and to get it back on the road i would have to buy 2 new tires, new shocks, fix a bit of rust and replace anything else thats slightly worn or they wouldnt pass it so i didnt bother, too much money, too much work

My first car was a 1972 Toyota Celica ST

Second, 1984 Toyota Corolla (bought new)

Third, 1987 Hyundai something... (bought new)

Fourth, 1984 Toyota Van

Fifth 1991 Toyota Corolla (current car)

Unlike many today, I had to buy everyone of my own cars (my parents didn't think it was a good idea to just GIVE me something that expensive because it would take away from my understanding of just how hard you have to work to get things like cars etc. but anyway...) Pardon my soap box rant there, my area is full of 17 year olds that drive 35,000 SUV's that thier folks bought them AND cover the insurance for them. Many of them do not work and to me, that is just being spoiled. Parents are of cource to blame but the kids are not learning the real value of money in the process.

Could I go out and buy that 35,000 car today? Sure I could, but I don't. Why? I'd rather spend that money every month on my family. I pamper my wife and children, we take luxurious vacations, dine wherever we choose and most importantly we put plenty away in retirement/investment accounts so that we can continue to live our abundant life after I retire.

The older you get, I guess the less important things like cars become.

    • If you don't care to read what I said, then you prove my point. Maybe written media is beyond your attention span. Titles are not summaries my friend.
    • Nobody asked... in fact, I said "I don't care about political leanings"
    • TLDR. Here is a far better title (just a basic example): Windows 11 26H2 to allow disabling Web search results
    • Restore will get my vote, only if to see if things are any different, doubt it though but Labour and Conservatives too out of touch and same thing over and over and over…, Lib Dem who?
    • There is nothing wrong with this title. You have completely missed the plot when it comes to "clickbait." The issue was never that a title tries to entice you to click, that is how titles have worked for over 100 years. The issue is when the title subverts expectations, getting you to click expecting something that isn't there. The classic clickbait example is "Boyfriend caught cheating, what happens next will shock you," then what happened next is the girlfriend was upset...which is probably the least shocking outcome imaginable. If sounds like what you want is for the titles to be a collection of 10-word summaries that you can skim, get the just of the story, and only click if you want more details. That is not, never has been, and never will be what titles are. You can go all the way back to print newspapers during the great depression and see the same thing. The newspaper was locked in a vending machine, all you can see is the headline, you choose to put in 5¢ to buy the paper and read the rest if you want. Those headlines were written in a way to sell the paper, not just to provide a summery. Here are two actual headlines from that time, "Wall Street Lays an Egg," or "Stocks Hit Bottom?" Maybe you'd say something like "it was wrong then and it's still wrong now." Okay, fine opinion to have, but it isn't like Neowin is doing something unjurnalistic, they are just following the age-old standards for written media.
