Unlike many today, I had to buy everyone of my own cars (my parents didn't think it was a good idea to just GIVE me something that expensive because it would take away from my understanding of just how hard you have to work to get things like cars etc. but anyway...) Pardon my soap box rant there, my area is full of 17 year olds that drive 35,000 SUV's that thier folks bought them AND cover the insurance for them. Many of them do not work and to me, that is just being spoiled. Parents are of cource to blame but the kids are not learning the real value of money in the process.

Could I go out and buy that 35,000 car today? Sure I could, but I don't. Why? I'd rather spend that money every month on my family. I pamper my wife and children, we take luxurious vacations, dine wherever we choose and most importantly we put plenty away in retirement/investment accounts so that we can continue to live our abundant life after I retire.

The older you get, I guess the less important things like cars become.

Hope the guy on the first page who's dad is getting him that purple BMW doesn't read this. ;)

lol, i cant, cars are to fun

plus the court said they would let me off $800 if i get my restricted licence soon

Eh...I was just kidding. I've wrecked pretty much every car I'd been allowed to drive for longer than a week or so when I was younger. Just never got the police involved. One of the benefits of living in a rural area as a kid. Like when I drove my then-gf's car into a ditch -through- a stopsign at about 75 mph...knocked the engine off the mounts and cracked the block. Still drivable though. Gotta love those Nissans.

1985 silver oldsmobile cutlass sierra...the thing was a POS!

- the rearview mirror would fly off when i hit a bump going faster than 15 mph and clock who, if anyone, was sitting in the back seat on the head...

- shotgun had to hold the glove box closed while we rode around cause it didn't stay shut and would bust you in the kneecap when if fell (duct tape wouldn't even hold it shut)

- the radio would go out from time to time...to get it back on we would have to either slam the dashboard like we were hitting someone, or if our hand got to hurting (on road trips) wed start kicking it...usually 2-3 times got it working again...

HOWEVER, the seats were like lazyboys, i don't think i ever went out in highschool and didn't fall asleep at the wheel coming home...god i hated that, but it was sooo comfy. and the trunk was perfect for stowing away the bitchy friend or loudmouth we happen to bring pack from a party...

i miss that car...it also made a great trash can equalizer...35-40 mph was the maximum speed for true distance and speadage of the garbage...

sniff...rest in peace lisa....

lol, i crashed my mazda after a week, i span out around a corner at about 60km, it was a long easy corder then almost hairpind at the end, 60km was fine untill the hidden hairpin so i spanout, over corrected twice the went through someones fence, i tryed to make a runner coz i was freaked so i drove over his garden and out the gate and was going about 120 through the suburb, he wasnt giving up and it was my first time on the road so i gave up, $600 for the fence i had to pay him but he didnt call the cops so i was happy, when i got the car home i had a look and i had bend the bonet, smashed the windscreen, cracked a hole in the radator and steam was ****ing out, and it had bent the front impact bar big time behind the bumber

agreed, but theres a problem there, my parents NEED A CAR everyday, they cannot, here where we live it's a residential part of a very big city, so at foot, you will die, that why you need a expensive car... let's say not a 35 000$ car but at least 15 000$. My parents actually got a new Volkswagen, but before that, we had old cars too, and we see the diff. All the other old car's we had, we woore changing the parts every week, with this one, we got in since 2001 and notting happend and we rolled up to 50 000 KM in 1 year...

And i agree with your opinion about the thing that parents buy cars for they kids... i mean, u can buy a car, but not a 30 000+$ car... The kid wont learn how it is to work for money, this is exactly what my dad is sayying to me. He allready baught me a "Scooter", 3000$, and he told me that it's only an example to me... and i'm not 17, i'm only 14... and a scooter for me it's a huge gift... I think that parents should not give so priceless gifts to very old kids like 17 cuz if u let them alone, in a week they will die, because they cannot pay all the bills... Newayz, it's jus my way...

first ride was a 1980 chevrolet chevette. bought it for 100 bucks, but it got me around... quality ride. now i've got a 92 daytona iroc r/t. one of only 250 produced. sports a 2.2 twin cam intercooled turbo with dual overhead cams, twin counter-rotating balance shafts, and a lotus head. getrag supplied the transmission. some pics are below if you feel the slightest bit intrigued... http://cloud9.idleplay.net/rt

Friend of mine had a car like that. The chevette, I mean. Same year too, I think. White with baby blue interior. We took permanant markers and drew a *huge* Dead Milkmen's cow symbol on the hood. That car was awesome. Until he came home drunk and drove it into the back wall of his garage at about 40 mph. :s

i got a new car today to add to my list,

82 ford lazer

cost me a internal zip drive but has a compression leek at one of the plugs, 25 dollars later at the engine recons and i have a new thread and w00t

still looks like a piece of **** coz theres the hatch and one of the doors are of a different car but its only to get me to down the road and back when i have work

honda makes the S2000 @ 250hp IIRC, and the only things above that are the Acuras (TL type S and NSX I think) but 'Ludes have never been that high.

4WS was a cool idea though. certainly beats the pants offa my '87 Plymouth Sundance....

damn, what have u done to the lude? i know that i/h/e will not have that much impact on its performance... u must have a turbo or nitrous or something man, cause a stock lude sh is only 200hp... anyway, my first car... 1987 accord lx-i, now a 2002 rsx type-s

Really sweet car, only 250BHP but it would cruise at 140 (limited to) and 0-60 in 4 secs. Maybe a little under 4.

oh, and i'm sorry, a prelude would never do a 0-60 in under 4... unless u got 10k to spend on mods... so either you're talking **** or you just don't know what the hell you're driving

ive been looking for another cheap 86 celica that doesnt go for ages

and i have finally found it

it goes, but it needs new pads, new hatch and a few other bits and pieces which i have its going to cost about 250nz so its cheap as

then i drive the lazer off a cliff or something and have a new fast car

lol that makes 9 cars in 1 and a half years
