You should ask those questions on the miranda customization topic not here.

Poor russellc, the thread is hijacked :p

i agree, i made this thread purposely to seperate the general miranda questions from the skin questions/comments. it would be appreciated if you guys could keep these threads on topic.

as for your question, it's been answered before i'm sure (i remember reading someone asking this and having it answered), so you should have a read through the miranda customization thread and possibly it was in this thread as well..somehow this thread became a general miranda question thread

Once I installed this miranda clist_nicer layered version, my miranda just keeps on crashing.

The answer to that is in the very first post.

Turn off "Hot track items as mouse passes over".

heh, i'll see if i got the time to make one. this weekend i'm just gonna be relaxing (and updating this skin), i've had a long week. possibly something new will come next weekend. i don't have time to make something new on the weekdays

so, i'll fill you guys in with the ieview template if i get anywhere with it (mocks, etc) :)

EDIT: how does everyone feel about this set of scrollbars?

Actual screenshot of scrollbars

i had this in mind (mocked), but the plugin seems to shrink the scrollbars quite a bit. the current actual scrollbars may look a bit in a bad position, but i cant set where to put them..

Any files mentioned can be found here.

These are instructions strictly to install this skin. If you have other questions relating to Miranda go to the Miranda Customisation Thread.

1. Download Miranda IM and install

2. Download the latest Modern Contact List Layered (clist_modern.dll which is v 0.3.1.216) and put this into your plugins folder

3. Download imagedecoder.dll (I don't actually know if this is a definite must have but helps) and also put this into your plugins folder

4. Download ModernClear and unzip it to anywhere on your harddrive. Miranda folder is probably the best place.

5. Run Miranda and go to Options->Contact List->List and make sure "Hot track items as mouse passes over" is NOT selected

6. Go to Plugins and tick clist_modern.dll

7. I can't remember if the skin applied itself automatically because it was the only modern skin I had or if I had to select it manually but do this:

If you see no contact list upon restarting Miranda, click on Miranda tray icon and go to Options->Customize->Skin->Browse and go to the unzipped ModernClear folder. Selct any of the .msf files then hit apply.

That should be it...might have forgotten something somewhere though

Maybe it's time for a readme

    • Thank god they got rid of the disgusting looking sidebars, and the corner radius looks much better, too. Two things I hated on day one, and never got used to.
    • JetBrains launches Rider 2026.2 EAP 5, bringing several AI improvements by David Uzondu JetBrains has released the fifth EAP version of Rider 2026.2, bringing a faster startup flow with the new non-modal startup screen and quality-check hooks for Claude Code and Codex. In the latest EAP release, Rider now has newly bundled "quality-check" hooks that run background tests on code edits before the external agent proceeds. For example, after Claude Code rewrites a class, Rider immediately triggers a PostToolUse hook that analyzes the code for syntax errors and formatting warnings. It then passes those findings back to the model as feedback, allowing the agent to fix its own output before finalizing the task. If Rider detects compilation errors, the IDE prevents the agent from treating the task as complete, while minor formatting warnings simply help guide the model toward better output. The "Explain with AI" feature can now tackle tricky build errors directly from the console, helping .NET developers who frequently wrestle with multi-targeting failures and MSBuild errors. JetBrains introduced Explain with AI back in the 2024.1 release cycle. With this feature, instead of forcing developers to copy long diagnostics into a separate chat window, Rider now lets you trigger these explanations directly from the error source. In similar EAP news, JetBrains recently opened the first EAP for IntelliJ IDEA 2026.2, with features that appeal to both those who are into AI-assisted coding and those who prefer "classic" manual development. For manual developers, the release adds revamped dependency completion for Maven and Gradle build scripts, which pulls data directly from the local cache to suggest relevant versions. It also brings the Spring Debugger update, displaying security indicators next to endpoints to visualize secured routes during runtime. In addition to database migration tools for Flyway and Liquibase, this build introduces a Hibernate debugger that shows the exact SQL or HQL queries that the framework plans to execute, letting developers jump directly to the Java code that triggered them.
