Miranda IEView does not work

Question

well basicly that's it in a nut shell I downloaded IEView and tabsrmm and nothing comes out, all the IEView skins I have tried have had 0 effect. I have never had this much trouble configuring any of my software, and it really ****es me off. Such a good looking peice of software yet is worthless if it does not work.

The only thing I can figure is that when they updated for 0.0.4 RC1-3 or whatever the version was to the final build they broke their IEView plugin completely, since most guides make reference to the RC builds not the final builds. atm I am unable to track down the any of the RC builds alive.

I challege anyone to download these links and put it all together and get the pureplastic skin running(or anyone skin running off of IEView for that matter) because sadly it is impossible

The great list of what does not work

miranda v0.4RC3

miranda v0.4.0.1

miranda v0.4.0.3.a37 nightly build

w/

ieview v1.0.22

ieview v1.0.3.8

ieview v1.0.3.4

w/

newest stable tabsrmm build and test build

the 8th great mystery of the world htf did people get this d@mn thing to work?

I have come to the conclusion that IEView MUST need RC2 to work...why?

on their site it says Requirements Miranda IM 0.4 RC2, for none other than IEView so I go over to sourceforge to find RC2 missing but RC1 and RC3 is there. Yea that makes perfect sense, now they can market the dang thing and make some money like trillian did. Good software gone bad.

I have Miranda v0.4.0.1, IEView v1.0.3.8, and TabSRMM v0.9.9.97. It works just fine.

Did you enable IEView as default message log? Miranda>Options>Message Sessions>Message Window>Message Log tab>check "Enable IEView as default message log"

Thats how I got mine to work.

WOW I can't believe it.....actually I can it DOES NOT work -.- sorry for the sarcasm but I am just about ready to throw in the towl for this pos. I will try it on my desktop computer once with the EXACT versions you are using and we will see what happens. wtf couldn't someone prebundle this ready to go?

I have been trying all this on my laptop

actually I would be eternally grateful to you if you could zip up your Miranda IM folder without your profile dat file of course =) please. and upload it to www.megaupload.com or as a file attachment?

Honestly it's not hard to get working, I'm uploading my version now but when you start it it will not work straight away.

You will have to enable ieview, choose a template (I've included mine) and you will need to make sure you are using tabsmm from the plugins menu.

thank you, but I have not yet installed it, it's downloading.

I have enabled IEView and choosen many templates and enabled tabsmm previously without any success btw.

And the seemingly simplicity of it is what p!$$es me off because I know it should not be that hard obviously and I do many things that would be considered difficult and advanced things on computers all the time but wtf this one thing does not work lil on giving me the slightest error or change in interface or something also bugs me. I would have expected something even if it does not do right.

At this point I am willing to bet almost anything that someone could record a video of how to do it and I could follow the exact some steps and absolutely nothing would happen....... I could even setup remote desktop for someone and I bet they could not figure it out either.

I accidently edited and deleted one of my posts. oh well the screenshot is now above -.-

nah but I am a webmaster and I know php, javascript and html real well and I have even made skins for Trillian and Windows VS themes but miranda o0 WTF is its Fing problem o0? A n00b would have a hell of a lot easier time making a windows skin or trillian skin than simply APPLYING a freaking skin to Miranda.

I am going to sleep if anyone else feels like giving me more zipped up miranda great and I will try them tomorrow but if you can make sure you unzip it and it works, even if it requires an enable IEview check to be done in tabsmm window log tab. Last one I got looked much worse than the pic above til I fixed it as much as it could be.

Also this all may be a loss cause, apparently Miranda is uncapable of sending text messages in MSN....hmm.... no text.....that kinda kills its purpose doesn't it? If anyone thinks Miranda is gonna become the next big universal chat program they gotta be kidding themselves, other than it looking extremely nice for the select few they just happen to be able to get it to work right it doesn't have much going for it imo as of now.

If I get this dang thing to ever work I be sure to release some type of easy to use bundle that is ready to go since no one else feels it is necassary.

The problem is you can't really make a premade one as all the settings get written to the database. I have created on with everything setup ready to run, all you need to do is make sure the location of the ieview template is correct and enter your usernames and passwords etc.

It's be uploaded in about 10 mins so I'll post the link when it's done.

One other thing, the template will not show up without any text and since it looked like you were trying to send a message to an offline contact there was no text to display.

be nice if I had text, but I don't have that either...... I'll try the new upload link and we will see.

I forgot to change one thing, the text in the message input window is (for some unknown reason) the same color as the background.

You need to go into options > message sessions > fonts and colors and change the color of the text for message input area.

I can say this:

I am not using a specialized skin for Miranda as I am using a ***system wide*** visual style (Carbon Pro 1.1) that I like.

I can also say that I have the latest protocols installed, and I have no problems sending messages to any contacts online in any protocol - other than Jabber, which seems to be flaky at best b/c of poor server uptime.

I have:

3 MSN accounts

2 ICQ accounts

1 AIM account

1 Yahoo account

1 Jabber account

All being accessed via that Miranda window. I have smilies enabled in all my protocols, and everything seems to be working quite well.

Since I am not skinning it it may no help but if you want help I can upload my Miranda as well.

Oh, and I am running it all off a USB key drive, no less.

miranda once again looks the same and isn't doing anything, can't even send a message, it really p!sses me off that a messenger that suposedly can look awsome and take on a number of customization better than anything else won't even work nor will it skin

I guess bout the only other thing someone could do is to record their computer screen and everything and every step they do to set it up..... cuz any all instructions I read did absolutely nothing for me as with the zip files that had it all ready despite a few things that needed to be checked, even the one alex included with a profile looked the exact same as my pic, even after I went checked enable IEView.

Everything bar the font color was set up on the one I posted. All you needed to do was follow the instructions in my last post to change the font color and to make sure that the path to the ieview template was correct. options > message sessions > ieview plugin > message log

If that didn't work then it must be somthing on your computer which is causing the problem, a setting in IE perhaps??

i gave up on ieview and use clist modern. http://miranda-im.org/download/details.php...iewfile&id=2103

586769333[/snapback]

 Those do two completely different things. ieview skins the chat window where as clist modern skins the actual list of names.

Try using IEview with Scriver instead of Tabsrmm (one of those is needed to skin the window/chat in case some people didnt know).

I had problems with Tabsrmm and tried Scriver instead.

The damn thing worked just by selecting a template in 'Options > Message Sessions > IEview plugin < click the Message Log tab, browse to the template file and remember to tick the templates box.

Except the smiley replacement i didnt enable anything else in IEview.

    • Let's goooooooo! I've been loving the entries so far! I still have to finish Rebirth (things have been busy!)! Excited for this next installment.
    • "Revelation?" I was hoping for this episode to be called "Reunion". Oh, well... In a related note, the Final Fantasy VII compilation has received an EC entry, short for Ever Crisis. For those who don't know, it already had AC, BC, CC, and DC entries, short for Advent Children, Before Crisis, Crisis Core, and Dirge of Cerberus. I hope it doesn't get an FC entry becaude that would be a freakin' crisis.
    • Uh, after intense testing now, 'Samsung Browser' is not the best one outside of 'Microsoft Edge' after all. Opera Air is that. It has "some" bloat, but it's far less than what both Microsoft Edge and Brave browser have.
