Blue Screen Memory Dump Problems

Recommended Posts

I'm having the blue memory dump screen come up alot when playing games or running programs like 3DMark03. About a month ago I got a extra Samsung 512MB DDR1 PC3200 for my Emachines computer. It had two Nanya DDR1 PC3200 256MB sticks making 512MB. Before the memory dump errors, my pc was rebooting a random when playing games after installing the memory. I thought this was the problem until I scanned with the Windows Memory Utility program and came out with no errors. This was when I had a ATI Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB AGP4x. Two weeks ago I upgraded my video card to a XFX Geforce 6600 GT 128MB AGP8X. Now there is no rebooting at random, but blue screen memory dump errors after about 30 min to an 1 hr of gameplay on 3D programs, like the Battlefield 2 Demo and 3DMark03.

Here are my sys specs:

Emachines T4852:

-Intel Pentium 4 HT Northwood 2.8GHz

-1024MB of PC3200 DDR1 (1x 512 & 2x 256MB)

-Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2

-120GB (actually 111GB) Segate Hard Disk (7,200 rpm)

-XFX Geforce 6600 GT 128MB AGP8X w/ nVIDIA Forceware 81.85

-300WT Bestec 12V Power Supply

-VL33 Emachines Motherboard

-NEC CD-ROM 48x Drive (Primary)

-NEC DVD-RW/+RW Drive (Secondary)

-Reltek Onboard Audio AC'97

-Floppy Drive

-Onboard Media Reader

-Phoenix BIOS

Also my CPU temp. is 46F and sys is 38F, the 6600 GT is 54F in 2D and 61F in 3D.

What is a blue screen memory dump? There are blue screen errors (and if you get one you can post the contents here) and there are memory dumps that occur when there is an error (the contents of RAM are dumped to a file for later evaluation by a tech, though the value of this is questionable). Let's set both options to where they should be:

Go to System Properties - Advanced - Startup & Recover Settings and make the following two changes:

1) Uncheck "Automatically Restart".

2) Change "Write Debugging Information" to "NONE"
