Those christmas ornaments are from my 2003 Christmas Icon set

I can't believe this guy has ripped me off

It fooled Bubbabyte who sought permissions from him thinking he was the author.  Not his fault.

It was for this kind of reason why I stopped creating icons.

@Bubbabte: Check you PM

I talked to someone from WinCustomize and he reported the rip.

yeah i had no idea yazoo...

i'm talking to someone from wincustomize now to see if they can get it removed right away.  What makes me mad is that the guy who released them clearly states in his comments that "this is his first attempt at making icons" that's just incredibly wrong.

anyway.. hopefully we'll get this taken care of soon..

so yazoo do i have your permission  :D

I like what you done with the baubles in the shellstyle.

Yes, you have my permission :D

thanks yazoo

*NOTES*

A couple things:

First, the red in the scrollbars doesn't really look good, but that's just my opinion.

Also, I'm not sure if you can control this, but the red and green tabs look strange in Firefox, because the text color is still black. The same applies to in-browser form buttons and such.

The start button graphic is a bit less wide than the button itself. Was that intentional?

Oh, and I recommend lighter shades of red/green, especially in inactive windows and all form elements.

scrollbars look good to me..

text on firefox cannot be controlled.. sry.

I'm not sure what you mean about the start button, can you explain or post a shot?

Attached. The red circle is where the cursor was over.

Also attached is a shot of some form buttons. That's the reason I recommended a lighter shade of green/red.

586815401

yes the start button is supposed to have that gap..it's only about 10-15 px from the button..not that big.

and the buttons.. i thought about making them brighter.. but then i would have to make ALL the greens on this theme brighter.. so i picked a shade thats not as bright, but that you can still read black text on.. at least i can anyway..

looks ok but maybe another color than grey on the toolbar backgrounds in explorer would look better.

586815383

i didn't want to turn it into some mac theme where the entire screen is one color.. so i chose to go with a smooth grey gradient to tone it down a bit.

Most of my suggestions are similar to mzhao's and my previous post's suggestions, but I'll say them again.

I'd like to see a lighter shade of green/red, a shade where both white and black text fit well against controls such as tabs and buttons.

The shadow bloom on buttons is a bit too harsh. I'd suggest lowering that shadow effect a bit.

I love it man!!, few things:

when a program is flashing on the taskbar its hard to notice, maybe make it flash red.. if you know what am on about.

the only part i dislike, or like the least is the taskbar colour, i think the vs may need another colour somewhere.. like blue.

just an idea.

heres a pic with my own shellstyle:

untitled19dt.th.jpg

Perhaps you could include several variations, including one with less color changes-the form buttons and tab colors are pretty annoying to me. No offense, it's a very good theme otherwise.

586815513

i'll try to lighten it up a bit...

but i've said right from the beginning that this is not gonna be a multi style theme.. meaning many different styles to suit everyone's every need... it is what it is... feel free to report bugs, or even edit the style for personal use.. but i can't please everyone.

but i'm gonna see what i can do to lighten up the greens a bit.

also, any way of removing the extra white lines in the separator area?

and perhaps some sort of "border" in the adress field, it looks kinda naked now.

untitled5fa.jpg

586815422

extra white lines?

they aren't extra man.. they are there to add a little depth to the toolbar seperator. You see those lines in every theme..lol

there is a border in the address field, but i'll try to darken it a bit to make it more noticable.

Another bug. For tool windows (ones with a thin titlebar) it's impossible to tell if the current window is active or not. Unlike normal titlebars where the caption buttons lighten a bit and the font's shadow goes white, there's absolutely no change for tool windows.

EDIT: I also noticed how special folders, such as those for pictures and music, don't have their own background images. Is this your intention to use the default images?

Edited by rm20010

okay.. i'll fix the caption bars so they have a noticable difference from active/inactive.

The special folders.. i left the out on purpose, because it's easier to edit shellstyles without having to edit all of those images.. but i'll throw some in there.. heh

anything else.

I guess it's all OK now. I still hold onto my suggestion about keeping the stars on the lower left part of the Start Menu, but if you insist on removing them, that's OK.

I don't know if you read over the suggestion about the shadow text on the buttons. The shadow seems to be too bright.

Also remember freedom_77's suggestion about the flashing taskbar buttons. The green is too unnoticeable.

    • Same Internet Archive seemed to grab the new version https://web.archive.org/web/20...d/Setup_MakeMKV_v1.18.4.exe Here's the link to an additional file it periodically downloads https://web.archive.org/web/20260213092148/https://www.makemkv.com/sdf.bin I think update's keys, etc. To manually trigger this update, put the sdf.bin file in the root of where the program is installed. When you launch the program it will pick up the file and import it. Typically put it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV\sdf.bin
    • Windows 11 KB5094126, KB5093998 bugging out Office apps but it may not be Microsoft's fault by Sayan Sen Microsoft last week released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. Although the tech giant did not acknowledge any major problems, some users online reported various issues ranging from OneDrive and Dropbox access problems, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. You can read about them in this dedicated piece. While there is still no confirmation about those problems from Microsoft the company has admitted to another bug which we did not report on. The tech giant has confirmed it has received reports of an issue in which certain third-party applications may be unable to launch Microsoft Office apps or open Office documents after installing the Patch Tuesday. This affects both Windows 11 as well as Windows 10. The company says the problem impacts a subset of applications that rely on OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) automation to communicate with Microsoft Office programs. According to Microsoft, affected scenarios involve third-party software attempting to open Office applications or documents from within their own interface. In such cases, the Office program may fail to launch altogether, or the requested document may not open. Oddly there may not be any error message, which probably makes the issue difficult to diagnose. The bug affects several Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and other apps in the Microsoft Office suite when they are launched through the affected software. These include tax and accounting software such as CCH Engagement and Workpaper Manager, dental practice management solutions like Dentrix and Softdent, as well as the popular research and reference management tool Zotero. Microsoft adds that other applications using similar Office integration methods could also experience the same problematic behavior. To understand the issue it is important to look at OLE, the Microsoft technology involved. OLE allows different applications to work together and share data, while its Automation feature lets one program control another. Thus this enables third-party software to launch Microsoft Office apps, open documents, and perform tasks automatically without requiring users to switch between programs. Because many accounting, healthcare, research, and business applications rely on OLE automation to interact with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office apps, any disruption can break those workflows. As a result, affected software may be unable to open Office documents or launch Office applications even though the programs themselves continue to work normally. At the moment the company has not provided a permanent fix though it has confirmed that engineers are actively working on a resolution, which will be delivered through a future Windows update. As such additional details will be shared once more information becomes available. In the meantime, Microsoft recommends a simple workaround for affected users whic is to open the Office application or document directly rather than launching it through the third-party program. For enterprise customers and organizations managing larger deployments, Microsoft says an additional mitigation is available. Admins experiencing the problem on their managed devices are advised to contact Microsoft Support for business to obtain and apply the workaround.
