BitTorrent is a P2P system that makes transfering large files (or groups of files) amongst a large group of people easy, fast and efficient. The BitTorrent network is impressive mostly for the speed and reliability with which you get files that have been recently released. As long as a .torrent file has enough people sharing then you can be assured that it will start quickly and maintain a good download speed. Always remember to leave your BitTorrent client open to help distribute the files!

With this version, you don’t need to decompress the amp files before using AutoPatcher. Just insert the amp module you want in the specific folder (\addons, etc) and AutoPatcher will take care of it.

IE6SP1 is a major update, if you dont have it installed prior to using autopatcher, make sure its selected for installation the first time you do, otherwise there can be serious consequences. Also note that some updates will only be available to install after IE6SP1 is installed, so youll need to run AP at least twice.

First, this KB902344 applies to Microsoft Windows Media Format 9.5 SDK and that can be installed on W2000! If you have installed it, you need the patch! For those who are thinking that I'm wrong can alsways take a look at the website Windows Media Format 9 Series SDK for more information.

Now this looks really hot stuff. I never used it before though, so is it really as simple as download and run?

I think I'm completely up to date (I check for updates regularly and of course get the silent updates) but I imagine it would be really something if this fella checks and replaces/deletes etc.

if you're up to date, you probably don't need most of these patches. anyway - no harm will be done as autopatcher can detect installed patches, and only suggests the relevant ones.

in the first post of this thread you'll find the contents of this package, and you may want the additional components/tweaks it offers...you're choice.

even some of the patches, as I have once verified with windows update, are unique to autopatcher, as downloading them from microsoft sometimes involves more than the mere "express update".

Hi - I've downloaded both AP2000Nov05Lite.exe (from y2kcs.net) and the full version AP2000Nov05Full.exe from (downloads.gabbix.com).

Even though I have the correct file sizes on my end, my MD5 hashes are not matching those listed here. I'm using Advanced Checksum Verifier to generate the hashes. (which works for other programs)

Has anyone else had this problem? Are the hash values listed here correct? Are these files safe to run?

I have a question...

I'm paranoid; I won't install anything with DRM or .NET on my Win2kSP4 machine, which means nothing past media player 6.4 and obviously no .net runtime enviroments or anything like that.

Is there a version of autopatcher lite that has the paranoid security consious MCSE in mind? it's a pain trying to patch everything manually without hitting windowsupdate.

^ autopatcher allows you to select what you install. you can decide which you dont want and simply uncheck them.

i can see a slight cause for paranoia when DRM is concerned, although its purpose is just to prevent illegal copies to be made, but i can understand what with sony's recent rootkit !

i dont understand why you dont want .net though. its a great idea and theres nothing to be paranoid about.

.net is just a framework containing a large number of common functions used by many programs. computers which have the framework will already have these functions, and so programs written to .net wont need to include them and so can be much smaller.

smaller programs means fatser downloads, your bandwidth is saved (saving money on pay as you go ISP's) and encouraging more users. bandwidth is also saved on the distributors/programmers end therefore making it cheaper to produce programs. it can also potentially save you a large amount of disk space.
