Kameo: SDTV vs HDTV comparison picture

Recommended Posts

Well I think if you have a high-end CRT that happens to have no HDTV you shouldn't be so bloody worried.. The games WILL LOOK GREAT!

HDTV is better, there's no doubt about that. However it's foolish to think that Next-Gen games will look current-gen on a non-hdtv set. That's bull****.

And not trying to insult the guy who took those pics but.. Something about those 720p screens does not look right. Maybe it's just the fault of the camera I don't know.

Are you sure that's PGR3? It just doesn't look right...

Hmm, looks like the difference is significant like they say. But no more than the difference between standard and HD has always been...

yes its real, sadly.... :x

If i bought the Xbox360 and PGR3 and it looked like that i would take it straight back to be honest.

I'm hoping it wont.

This is really stupid.

The only different between HTDV and SDTV is resolution. 480i vs 1080i for example.

So why on earth would there be visual quality difference? Sure the picture would have more detail in HDTV, better resolution, but the QUALITY (texture, effects, blur, animation, etc) should be the exact same.

If the graphics look crap in SD, that means they're crap in HD aswell, maybe HD is hidding it. Similerly, if the graphics are good in HD, then they should be GOOD in SD as well.

For Example running HL2 on highest setting on 800x600 vs 1600x1200, you see more detail on the latter, but the Quality should be the same.

wow, looks like im not going to buy an xbox 360, i cant afford to shell out 2000 for a hdtv just so i can play games.

You're an idiot. The PS3 will have this "problem" too. Are you really surprised that it will look better on HDTV? Kind of a no brainer, really. I don't understand why so many people are freaking out.

you are correct for the most part but with HD the texures cna look higehr REZ cause it is running higehr REZ and a few more detials can comeout . while yes the textures can eb the same and otehr effects they will be a loss in image clarity it is kinda like using a Xbox on composite video connection compared to S-video the S-video connects shows mroe detials in texures.

Exactly, it?s like getting ****ed at your cable company cause your SDTV doesn?t display your TV programs as well as your friends HDTV.

I don?t get why everyone is now noticing their old TV don?t look as good as an HDTV.

Hmmm....something's fishy about the SDTV PGR3 pics. The cars don't even have reflections.

Looks like I'm going to get a HDTV from Samsung from Rent to Own(lol). But don't HDTV's need an HD source?

The Xbox 360 will be the HD source.

Misconception. The 360 IS an HD source. You're thinking of HD television, which does require either an ATSC tuner (aka hdtv decoding tuner) or an HD box (which includes the decoder). But that's just tv, any other HD devices will work as long as you have the supported cables (xbox360 is so far component for HD modes).

Those PGR screens cannot be right. Looks like it's running on a PS or N64. Anyway, I played COD2 and Kameo on a demo machine today and COD2 looked awesome. Kameo looked okay but I don't know I expected more for that game. Although I never played it, only the beginning scenes.

dont get ****ed off because M$ slanted the weight over to the HD side, that was their mistake. To be perfectly honest, the xbox 360 isnt that much of a JUMP over the xbox, nothing near calling next gen, and for the RECORD I OWN A XBOX not a ps2.. Im sure ps3 will have the same problem but then again, its not comming out next week is it?

When it all comes down to the wire, my computer will own this 360 3x over, thats where the "Next Gen" is..

ps1 to ps2 = OMG stunning worth every penny....

xbox over ps2 = bragging rights but ps2 had games hands down.

ps2 to ps3 = we dont know yet...

xbox to xbox 360 = 20% improvement = not worth 300.00 and FOR DAMN SURE NOT WORTH A 2000.00 DOLLAR TV INVESTMENT!

    • Payday TWO!! Is 13 years old man I feel old - I remember trying it out and if I did not know I would say 5-6 years ago or something
    • Payday 2 engine upgrade adds 64-bit and DX11 support, drastically shrinks install size by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Payday 2, the most popular entry in the heisting game franchise, is getting a surprising update after all these years. This is slated to be a complete engine upgrade that will enhance almost every aspect of the 13-year-old title, targeting performance, loading times, file size, rendering backend, and more. Developer Sidetrack Games is planning a beta to test out the new version ahead of the full public launch. The development team today revealed that the long-awaited upgrade to the 64-bit architecture is happening with this Diesel 3.0 engine update. By letting the game use more ram than 4GB, it is said to improve stability and compatibility on most hardware. It should also help modders in the long term with implementing larger changes too. "While many of the changes are made on the backend and not everything will be visible to you guys because it is a massive rewrite of the entire codebase, there will be a lot of things that you can look forward to," Sidetrack explained. Payday 2 will also hop over from DirectX 9 to 11. Instead of visual improvements, this is slated to reduce the amount of VRAM used by the title, letting more lower-end hardware access the title and run it better. Since these changes would require a complete redownload of the game anyway, Sidetrack says it has revamped "the game's packaging and bundling system." This should reduce the installation size from 86GB to 32GB. "So, now it's time to finally move the game to your SSDs," added the studio. The Payday 2 Diesel Engine 3.0 update is entering open beta on June 30 for Steam users. No console release plans were announced today. Sidetrack Games says it has been working on this complete rewrite of the codebase for the last nine months. While these changes should break most mods, the studio encouraged modders to use the beta period to repair their creations with support from the development team.
