Playstation 3 Fans Rejoice!

Recommended Posts

Recently it was reported that the price of PS3 will be between 300 and 400$ according to Howard Stringer CEO of Sony , well on the same link today CNN made a correction:

Correction: An earlier version of this story appeared with statements erroneously attributed to Sir Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony Corporation, regarding pricing and availability of the PS3. Stringer has not commented publicly on how much the PS3 is expected to cost, or how soon it will appear in the US after the Japanese launch in spring 2006.

so it seems the 300-400 was a false statement that somehow got made into a story. off we go back to the $500 console

http://money.cnn.com/2005/11/21/technology...fortune_112805/

Original False statement on CNN:

Sir Howard said the PS3 will sell for $300 to $400 and will come with a bundle of games, movies, and TV shows, many of which Sony also makes. The question is whether the titles will be bundled on Blu-ray DVD discs or on a built-in hard drive.

That statement about bundled movies and music and games was also nullified.

LMFAO

But what I don't get is why are you saying PS3 Fans Rejoice?

If the price really wasn't announced to be between 300 to 400 dollars then PS3 fans are going to be ****ed more than anything that it wasn't true. I for one didn't believe it for one second. IMO it's still to early to give a price on it.

title because if they kept that statement and when unannounced price preorder came and they did preorder thinking of that 300-400 statement and it was 500, they would be done in for,

Sony are full of BS. As far as the PS3 goes, I will believe what I see on the shelves, nothing more. And then when I see it on the shelves, I'll keep on walking and see the X360 shelves still selling out!

i still dont see why fans should rejoice for that reason?

i can see this topic is going to be attacked by xbox fanatics with the usual sony crap and etc

It'll certainly suck knowing that the system you are walking stright past beats the xbox in everyway possible. Not just a little bit, but leaps.

Except that the only performance figures or indication is from Sony themselves and not from ACTUAL hardware tests m8.

Because outwith Sony it doesnt exist yet! I usually take what Sony says with a pinch of salt then actually look for myself then decide when the hardware is available on a retail level.

Your basing your statement on pure conjecture and believing the hype Sony have touted so far. e.g. my things bigger than your thing...so mature of Sony

granted some of the statements ask for flaming but come on lets be mature about this;))

(and no im not a xbox fanboy i own both current consoles):

Sony themselves and not from ACTUAL hardware tests m8.

mmm... i think u will find other dev comp's have tested it... of course Nvidia have been using it, sony, EA and few other big comps inc the likes of Activision, Guerrilla and those unreal ppl...

so get ur facts right...

and im not a sony fanboy... i intend on gettin both, but IMO... Sony's will win............. eventually (if they ever f'in release it)

very well said my friend!

Why would PS3 fans want to rejoice about wrong information about the price? Especially since that wrong information made it cheaper?:

That's when you're supposed to realize the topic title is sarcasm.:pp

As for the topic, when has Sony actually fairly priced something for what it's really worth?

not to break thunder or anything, its just a tatic howard is using to get people a idea that anything can happen.. but to really emphasize the pricing some things to keep in mind.. Famitsu magazine, said and was later backed by a few thing that the ps3 would launch in japan for 400 usd (what ever that amounts to in japanese currency)... Now to also note movie industry groups (mgm, warner., etc.) have kinda leaked out what ps3 may sell for 300 to 400 dollars and will come with a movie, the game and music part? Well i dont know because i never herd that but it could be possible...

Cmon guys... don't ya think that whatever price it's gonna be, it's gonna be an awesome system. I mean it's a videogame machine, a blu-ray player, hi-def multimedia center, wifi support, 7 player support, might come with a hard drive with stuff packed in for free, maybe even linux or something, can make ya coffee blah blah etc. Isn't that worth 300-500 bucks anyway? The PSone was 300 dollars when it came out and it still did pretty well. Compare that to what the PS3 will have at launch...

To add to that, people bought a PS2 for the games AND the DVD player functionality. I'm not surprised if it's gonna be the same with the PS3 and blu-ray. Blu-ray alone justifies the price.

PS3 Price ? don't care... (not yet anyway)

I want to know if "we" (Europeans) need to wait for Q1 2007 for the PS3

(, or is SONY planning a Semi-WorldWide release just like the XBox360?)

the PSP release for Europe took so long, SONY tried to hurt PSP importers...(you can't blame the importers for serving Europe last?)

Europe is always last, when it gets officially released overhere (a year or more later!!!) it feels "old"...(we have internet too, we read reviews too you know ;) )

What triggered me to get an Xbox360 at launch was the fact it is a (Semi)"World Wide Launch".

If blu-ray becomes the standard! I personally think that HD will beat it out; Sony has a horrible track record with this sort of thing (eg. beta tapes, mini disks)

hahaha whatever orange, we all know your a bitter little man and that is just another little jab at people looking forward to the ps3, i dont care how you justify it- your a douche.

586843096[/snapback]

Mind if i steal that for my sig? lol, thats freaking hilarious

I think HD will beat Blu-Ray because Microsoft supports HD, that alone will push it out in front.

PS3 fans should rejoice becoz it iz TEH 1337 System :) , i should rejoice becoz i have my 360 on preorder and now im waiting for the rev started saving up so hehehe, and obviously the PS3 will be bought after that which is about 1 or 2 years from now :D :woot:

Who knows? I'm still getting a PS3 for the games and if it can play blu-ray movies than thats just a nice bonus. no need to get a separate HD player for that. Does the Xbox360 come with HD-DVD? No.

Oh yeah I forgot to add, all of japan supports sony who supports blu-ray... that might just push blu-ray in front :D

its not only that japan supports it.. japans population as a whole and asia also, out numbers us in the united states.. so when you have 75% (note that this is just statistics) maybe 60% now but still 60%, thats more than enough to basicly lay out that ps3 and blu-ray is a dominant force, and not to speak theres already blu-ray devices available there...

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
