@udontneed2know

I respect your knowledge of processor architecture, at least of cell. But it seems some of your claims are outrageous. I am saying this because my work is related to a major part of processor design. I will let you guess what I do for now. But what you are saying is impossible to pack in PS3 as shown at E3. Cell may be a bit too powerful to fit PS3 at capabilities you are claiming.

Again I am not challenging cell programming which you said you are doing but a different aspect of the so called cell revolution.

Also lets not forget Windows. Cell can promise you moon but it is not going anywhere unless Windows works on it; at least for next 10 years or so.  That gives a lot of time for intel/AMD to catch up. If at all that is.

Well, he did mention 256 GFLOPs at 4.2 GHz, Cell in the PS3 is supposed to run around 3.2 GHz. I believe PS3 will seem on par with the X360 at first and then show it's true potential over time, kind of like the PS2 did.

errr

it only showed its true potential when devs felt like taking full advantage of the system- something that was annoying to do programming wise and time wise.

it seems to me like Sony has been doing some homework around community forums and sending in some "damage control" ppl to put the force back into balance... well more black than light force but is still well balanced...      :p

aways, wellcome to the playground kids! I'm sure there's enough room for all us here and the main idea is to have fun because everything is about the games!!!

No kidding. Until he backs up his statement with links to his papers, I wont buy anything he's selling here. :D

What you think the world revolves around the internet? I wrote something I thought was necessary here once.

Pretty lengthy read but its good enough if you want to read it for the time being. Most of what I wrote and talked about was back during Cells creation and was for college, future of programming, future of microprocessing papers. Been following Cell since the early days back in 2001 when the project moved out to my area and I had alot of friends go in there and work on it.

And you must think the internet is still way back in 1995 to think people with backgrounds won't go on forums and message boards and BBS's and net groups. Hell even high class game developers will look at these forums alot. When I was with Sonic Team in Japan they'd have full days of simply running across various BBS's to see where the minds of the normal and hardcore gamers were.

And personally I just like going to boards and talking about games and systems. Being a fast reader and typer helps the process along ;)

Seriously. I have read this thread, every last post and every last piece of fanboyism (you know who you all are!!!) and there is only one thing which is causing me intense mental anguish:

Except that the only performance figures or indication is from Sony themselves and not from ACTUAL hardware tests m8.

Because outwith Sony it doesnt exist yet! I usually take what Sony says with a pinch of salt then actually look for myself then decide when the hardware is available on a retail level.

Your basing your statement on pure conjecture and believing the hype Sony have touted so far. e.g. my things bigger than your thing...so mature of Sony

granted some of the statements ask for flaming but come on lets be mature about this

(and no im not a xbox fanboy i own both current consoles)

Outwith?

OUTWITH?

In the name of Jumping JC Connor! Don't try to use big words to make a post seem intelligent! Once a colloqualism like "m8" has been used, any chance of intelligence has dropped from the post already!

That and it would seem that there is no such word as OUTWITH!

Back up intelligence with grammar and use of proper English. PLEASE!

hehehehe, its kind of a mini protest,. you cant open a thread or openly complain about mods and the wrong things you sometimes feel that they do. i personally think they act too rash and too harsh and should start warning people people before they do permanent things,. anyways, even this post will probably be deleted and noone will see it, quite frusterating.

I think your trying just a little too hard my friend. Thats what I love most about the internet though. I remember back in 1998 I was a part of a long standing BBS and was talking about some things and my idiot friend in Japan lived about a block from me. On the forum he kept saying I wasn't who I said so I went over to his house and popped him on the side of the head and logged in on his computer lol. Was pretty funny.

I'm not God and belief isn't what I really care about from people in all seriousness. Do, dont, could care less.

"Use of language, my dear boy, not spelling. There is a difference"

Why, Why?? DO we always have to have a spelling nazi in ever damn thread, get over it, he was probably writing "without" and he accidently wrte "outwith" re-read his sentence "Because outwith Sony it doesnt exist yet" now replace the word "outwith" with "without" and whoope de dooo we have a proper sentence.

Instead of logically rebutting his arguments, you picked up some small mistake and make a big deal out of it.

I know I have also gone offtopic but we always have some guy thinking he inveneted the english language, and thinks that he or she is so smart yet cannot simply re arrange a few letter in their "advanced english" mind to make a proper sentence.

Jesus dude drop it. How is outwith even a big word even if it was an actual term in the dictionary?

Whats your point to all this? Your sounding dumber yourself simply by calling outwith a " big word ". Maybe if your 8 thats a big word but us adults don't really consider outwith or without to be something extraordinary in the english language. How gay of a direction is this for a discussion. Hijack a thread with mindless babble is all your doing.

Anyway, to the guy who said the console war is happening in a year and a half, what are you smoking and can I have a hit? PS3 is launching in 5-6 months in Japan.

Read my post again for meaning.

My focus is on attempted intellectualism by using words which sound big but actually have no meaning. Also, note that I was not focusing on spelling.

Of course, said member may suffer from Dyslexia. In which case, I am sorry.

1UP Finds Evidence of Sony Anti-360 Propaganda

back to topic yeah I believe PS3 might be released at $400 or even less but you have to remember that's probably without the HDD and all the accessories like a head-set... I believe Microsoft will lower the x360 price before Sony launches PS3 in America

once again friend, i have to say be it spelling or "use of language" -i must reiterate my previous post...  noone cares.

Oh btw, i consider reiterate as more of a "big" word than outwith.

Are you afraid that he knows what he is talking about? He has long, lengthy and intelligent posts.

I don't understand this, he seems to know all these things about the cell processor and yet he is ridiculed by xbox fanboys like you. Okay so i wont generalize, mostly you and jerry. My point is, this guy is just spreading some valuable information and clearing up some misconceptions that people may have about the CELL processor. Let him register on 10 forums and post information, what's the big deal. He is probably the first person on this Console forum who really knows what he is talking about and because he knows what he is talking about he must be sent by Sony right

    • We check out the SKG PS700 Neck Massager by Steven Parker I was offered the chance to test out the SKG PS700 Neck Massager, and full disclosure, they let me keep it regardless of my findings. Anyway, I jumped at the chance due to my long hours sitting at my desk; I figured it could offer some neck pain relief. What's in the box: SKG PS700-2 Neck Massager Rechargeable Battery (inside massager) Type-C USB cable User Manual Quick Start guide 1-Year Warranty In short, everything you need to get started. According to the official listing, here are the key features: Biomimetic Kneading & High Torque Motor: Designed with innovative biomimetic kneading heads that perfectly simulate the touch of human hands. Powered by a high-torque motor, this massager delivers powerful and precise deep tissue relief to effectively target stiff neck muscles and release built-up tension Soothing Heat & Integrated Sound Relaxation: Experience the ultimate Relaxationation with our dual-action approach. The soothing heat function gently warms your neck, while the built-in sound Relaxation provides calming audio tracks, helping you achieve a state of mindfulness and mental tranquility during your physical massage Cordless Convenience & Travel-Ready & Father's Day Gifts: Crafted for maximum portability and ease of use. Its lightweight, cordless design allows you to enjoy a premium massage anywhere without the hassle of tangled wires-whether you're taking a quick break at your desk or winding down at home Versatile Relief for Home & Office: An essential wellness companion for office workers, gamers, frequent travelers, or anyone looking to integrate mindfulness into their daily routine. It seamlessly fits into your lifestyle, providing instant neck relief whenever and wherever you need it Safe & Premium Materials: Manufactured with high-quality, skin-friendly materials to ensure a safe and comfortable experience without irritation. SKG backs this device with dedicated customer service, making it a thoughtful tech-health gift for family and friends App & Bluetooth Music Control: Connect via Bluetooth to control your massage settings through the dedicated app and enjoy your favorite music during your massage session for a fully customizable and immersive relaxation experience Red Light Warmth Technology: Features advanced red light warmth technology that penetrates deep into neck muscles to enhance blood circulation and provide soothing comfort while relieving muscle tension and stiffness Design With all that out of the way, here are my own findings. SKG does not say what materials are used to make the neck massager. However, on the product website, it mentions "soft-touch silicone" with what looks like PU leather cushioning, with the rest being mostly made up of plastics. On the inside of the massager, there are two "biomimetic kneading heads" that are motorized for the different styles of massage, which are not actually listed at all in the paper user manual, but the standard included modes are: De-stress mode, Mediation mode, Relax mode, Shiatsu mode. The massager looks quite premium and is actually very comfortable to wear. This massager is small and light enough to go anywhere, as it doesn't get in the way of anything, so I was able to use it in the chair while writing this review. Unlike the back massager, SKG does not warn in the user guide not to use it for more than 30 minutes a day (or two 15-minute sessions). However, there is a long laundry list of important safeguards to consider before and during the use of the device, and it is warned that the neck massager is not waterproof. It also includes a 1,400mAh battery with a rated power of 14W and input of 5V, which is the standard for up to USB 3.0 power (although the Amperage is not mentioned at all). SKG does not say how long it takes to charge, but a quick calculation at 2A (if that is what it is) would mean it would take roughly 1.5 hrs to charge from empty. In any case, the light around the button changes from orange to green on a full charge. In addition, it is not possible to use the device while it is charging. On the right of the neck massager is the On/Off and modes button, which also acts as a joystick. You can operate all the modes directly from the power button, as well as the app, which I'll get into a bit later: Push up: Short press to adjust Heat levels On/Off button: long press Mode Switching: Short press (while in operation) ➕ Push left: increase Music volume ➖ push right: decrease Music volume Push down: Short-press to turn Music on or off The massager defaults to De-stress mode, and it is not stated anywhere if the neck massager has overheat protection. This time around, regarding heat, the only detail I could find is that it has "triple action soothing heat." The temperature stages are not listed anywhere in the paper manual, Amazon listing, or official website. The heat levels can be adjusted through the app or directly on the device using the joystick button. Usage There's also the SKG Health app, which makes using the massager far easier than feeling around for the button on the side of your neck. If the app is stopped, you are required to log in with a verification code over email, which I am not too pleased with, as this means it will only work that way for however long SKG decides to support it through said app. However, I was not able to get the app to connect to the OS500, which I have reported back to my contact. Bluetooth appeared to be working on the neck massager as it became available to pair with my phone, but the SKG app failed to discover it. Before I forget, there's also a switch next to the USB charging port to deactivate and activate the Voice Prompt, which, when enabled, audibly tells the user when switching intensities, modes, or connecting to the app and informs when the massages start and are completed. That said, on to my likes and dislikes, which are listed below. What I didn't like Unable to connect the Neck Massager to the app Use through the mobile app relies on continued support from SKG What I liked Can be used without the app Cordless use Light and comfortable to wear Heat is also quite comfortable Where to buy: According to the official website, this has an MSRP of $249.99, but is currently $50 (on Amazon). To sweeten the deal a bit more, there's also an in-page coupon that knocks a further $20 off the price. SKG PS700-2 Neck Massager for $179.99 on Amazon (was $199.99) Apply the in-page $20 off coupon for the final price of $179.99 Just like the back massager, this gets a confused thumbs up (due to the cost). However, I cannot rate it through app usage as it failed to connect. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

    • Sounds like you just skimmed over the review, I answer all those questions in it. Although I admit I did not test if DTS works over the headphones, when I get some time I will test this. My personal use case is more speaker-driven (I cover this in the review too).
