There is a WB version. When you install the pack, it installs the WB theme automatically.

You can also use the ordinary themes with a patched uxtheme.dll.

Where? Installed and all I see is the StylesXP in my resources\themes folder. I'm guessing the WB version should be installed into the root of WB.

WindowBlinds shellstyle bug is now fixed. Please download it again.

Reading the previous posts I got the destinct impression that this theme not only worked with StylesXP, but with WindowBlinds.

Does this theme have a WindowBlinds counter part, or is it strictly for StylesXP. If it does have a WindowsBlinds counter part, where does the installer place the folder and what is the name of the folder.

Thanks...

What I can't edit my post.....

I see there are FOUR of these theme files associated with this theme developer.

Vista Visual Styles Pack - Version 3.0

Vista nLite/RVM Pack - Version 3.0

Vista Trans Pack - Lite - Version 3.0

Vista Transformation Pack - Version 3.0

Seeing that I'm having problems getting the WindowBlinds theme, I'm assuming that I've downloaded the incorrect file. The link I followed was from a previous post in this thread which lead me to the 'Vista Visual Styles Pack 3.0.zip', and it looks like this particular file ONLY contains StylesXP themes. I do apoligize if I'm not seeing the WindowBlinds files as I was told it automatically installed the WindowBlinds version along with the StylesXP, and I can not see it anyewhere.

To Desktop X: Please post the correct file location so people NEW to this thread are NOT going on a wild goose chase for files that are NOT related. When you post a NEW update would you KINDLY post a link to the correct file.

I'll tell you how I installed the WB theme.

I downloaded Vista Visual Styles Pack 3.0.zip, extracted it and ran the Vista Visual Styles Pack 3.0.exe and it first of all installed the normal themes (the ones that work with the patched uxtheme.dll and StyleXP), I then got a dialogue box saying "extracting" and then a popup in my status bar from WindowBlinds saying that a new skin called Aero Style had been installed, and that I should "click here" to apply it. I clicked "here", WindowBlinds opened and I applied the skin.

The WB skin is installed in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\Aero Style for me.

EDIT: He did post the correct link o_O when you download the Vista Visual Styles Pack 3.0.zip and extract it, and then run the exe, the WB theme is installed.

Yes it did. But I still prefer Jemaho and KoL.

Ok, It does look like the installer shows 5 seperate themes being installed, and I'm guessing that 4 are for StylesXP and the other is for WB5. However, it's still not installing the one for WB5. I guessing that the modified UXtheme.dll may be preventing the WB5 theme from installing. The installer may see the modified UXTheme.dll and just quit. WB5 never tells me that there is a new WB5 theme being installed, andf I do have it running at the time.

Could someone make the WB5 theme available outside the installer?

I removed the modified UXTheme.dll and created a path of "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds\". However I have WB5 installed somewhere else. Maybe the problem is that you have WB installed in a different directory to the one the installer looks for? Could be a possibility.

IIRC when I installed the extract dialogue showed a bit of where the WB theme was being installed to. Maybe try and decipher where it's being installed from that?

That's the problem. I guess I was expecting the installer to be smart, and know the location.

can someone post the WB5 file? i'm having the same problem.

EDIT: i figured out a way to do it. i created a Stardock/Object Dock/WindowBlinds directory, then copied my actual WB directory to it to fool the installer into thinking that the whole program was there. then it installed it to my actual WB folder. go figure.

so far i like it, but mine still shows the icons for "my computer" and "my documents" and all that.

Excellent!!! I absolutely find the Aero Style (Vista - Beta 2) as my Favorite Style... However I have one tiny problem which drives me a little insane. :woot: The problem I am having is that I use a few different Chat/Game apps (Xfire, Trillian, Etc...) that use a black background as the chat window and any URL's/Links that are typed in them Turn up Black. I've found that changing the Display Properties/Appearance/Advanced/Item: Window - Font Color from black to any other color it will fix the problem but then create and entirely new problem where In any other part of windows my text has also changed color so It's a dead end fix (Super Run on sentence ;) ). I don't seem to have this problem with any of the other visual styles I've tried but yours is the only one I've found so far that I like. Is there anything or any way I can fix this myself or would it require a wait on the next update of the vvsp?

Once again, Thanks for sharing this with us ;)

If I change this Option and choose another color

screen06.jpg

It will show up but also change all other windows apps although On other various skins/styles, that option is not needed to be changed and does not effect the URL.

I just found something else if this is any help at all...

I choose the Default Windows XP Style and set it to Silver the same thing will happen. So maybe it has to do with a setting when making the Style color scheme? Just figured I would add that before I forget :alien:

    • Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more. It was by no means the first though. Battlefield 2142 from 2006 had the same thing. In fact, Neowin wrote a story about it back then. https://www.neowin.net/news/ba...-in-game-ads-clarification/
    • This is obviously aimed at the education where Apple has lost so much ground to Chromebooks in the last few years, but unless they come up with a comparable management system for education why would anyone switch back?
    • Here's how we arrived at that claim: Note that this is just Play Store downloads. The app is also available on the Galaxy App Store
    • Google Play states the app had more than 50 million downloads. What other metric do you suggest should be used?
    • MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
