Xfire has very little info on it but here is there FAQ on the issue:

XFire FAQ

Clip from the FAQ:

Why do hyperlinks show up black in the chat window?

This is due to the common control settings in some versions of Windows. Xfire skin uses a black background and Windows attempts to ?help? us by guessing what color to display the link.

The known workarounds are:

Highlight the link in the chat window to see it.

Use Standard skin which has a white background.

We may add our own control to fix this in a future update.

Click on the pic's in my previous posts and you'll see I and a few other people I got into this Styles thing (including the person that got me into it) are all having the same issue in the same way so there has to be some way around it because other Styles and the default windows one doesn't reproduce it for us unless we change the color scheme.

I think I might actually be giving it a go on my own and see if I can make a Style like this one if I have the time to. It's just strange how certain Styles do not have this at all and others do... there has to be a way around it as a lot of the other Styles I've tried just don't have this for me. It drives me a little nuts because people on xfire are always sending me links and 1/2 the times I don't even know i:blink:ink:

Any way to fix this start menu problem? It happens on my Dell Latitude D610. I am running it at 1400 x1050 resolution.

I think it has to do with the screen size. No matter what resolution I set it to it still does it. If I use my external monitor at 1280x1024 then it displays correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Um, Windows X, I emailed you before but I dont know if you got my email. How come in your transfomation pack I can't get the transparent effect? I downloaded this one hoping to get it. I havent tried it yet though. ....And if theres something else I need to download to get the effect can you show me where and what to download? Please?

Great! Thanks! I originally started searching for "Transparency" insted of Glass. Cause I didn't know what it meant. And then when I heard about this windowblinds I had no idea it was like style XP.

Anyway, I got enhanced after a LOOOONNNNGGG time of trying to get it to "work". So now I have the glass effect and I must say, its great! :D. However... I just wanna ask one last question. Before I downloaded these seperate packs and the enhanced I used your Transformation Pack. I loved it how when you went to say "My Documents" there was a aqua blue pane at the BOTTOM of the window; showing all the details of the folder and files. Now, unfortunatly, there is a narrow bar representing that at the TOP of the window. I cannot find which theme I origianlly had it on. I want to change it back to that theme and still have the glass effect. I remember that the title bar was white and had this cool streak going through it halfway (Now its a black title bar when maximised).

I thought it was Vista beta 2, but when I change it to that it still appears to be the same.... I dunno if it even changed. Cause when I went via display> appearences, I cannot prieview the image, its blank. Yet also when I set it to any theme, my computer "changes" it however the display panel is frozen - blank - nothing. And I have to close it and do "dont send error report" thing.

SO! I don't know what is happening or what I have done wrong

Uninstall WindowBlinds - it causes the display properties to mess up (the cracked versions of WB, at least)

Wait for 4.0

Is that related to that? .... I thought you could just tell me which theme it was in your transformation pack which put the bar at the bottom. Or... is it some codeing or something.

my video card is "sis 730" with 128MB share memory

please help me!

Like everyone said to me when I was desperate, You need "Windowblinds Enhancement 5", it's like style xp (a program) and it allows you to theme your windows. When you download this back from Windows X, you apply it through that program and it allows you to see the glass effect

Uninstall WindowBlinds - it causes the display properties to mess up (the cracked versions of WB, at least)

Really? That's not fair. What happens if I left it there? Cause I really don't wanna lose the glass effect and stuff  :(. I don't know if I mentioned it, but I know it's basicly impossible then to change any kinda theme through my display properties. Probebly due to windows blinds. The only way I can see the theme is I think through apply... But to tell the true there is no difference between that theme and the current theme I have on .

I just love this theme so much I don't wanna lose it. I should just go and get windows vista. I've been trying so much to imatate it... lol it's hard with a laptop cause it is so incredibly slow, especially with a mock windows media player 11. (Skins and widgets).

Lots of people are having trouble getting the alpha effects, including myself. You are tempting us with screens then not giving us the needed information to achieve it, at least not what we can figure out. I'm assuming from your various posts before now that it requires WindowBlinds 5, which I downloaded. However, I can't get the alpha to work with your skins. I very much want the look from those screens that you provided. Please give a more direct explaination of how to get such a look.

Also, what will 4.0 have and why will it be worth waiting for?

    • Linux 7.1 arrives with an NTFS overhaul and major hardware performance boosts by Paul Hill The founder of the Linux kernel has just announced the availability of Linux 7.1. This is a stable version of the kernel that will now be tested by various Linux distributions before it is shipped to users through update managers. Some users, like those on Debian, for example, might not get it for a long time, if at all, while Fedora users can expect it in the near future. With Linux 7.1 out on time, the merge window for Linux 7.2 is now open, giving contributors the opportunity to send in major new features that have been waiting for the last two months. Torvalds warned that he is currently travelling and will be in another timezone, so timing for the merge window may be irregular due to timezone differences and limited internet access. Torvalds said that he has already fetched early pull requests to allow him to do some offline work, but the travel could still cause disruption. Right now, he is not planning to extend the release, but did consider it. He said he might later regret not extending, though. In terms of this last week of development for Linux 7.1, Torvalds said there were no major or alarming changes. This week consisted mostly of smaller driver updates to GPU, networking, and sound, networking fixes, trace tooling fixes, and misc minor fixes. The shortlog this week lists fixes for driver bugs, memory leaks, I/O and USB fixes, networking and RDMA fixes, DRM/graphics fixes, and tooling and verification improvements. Specific fixes include USB series heap-overflow and buffer overflow fixes, and multiple use-after-free, memory-leak, and refcount corrections across subsystems such as i2c, zram, gpio, and net. There are fixes for graphics drivers, including amdgpu, i915, and virtio, as well as hypervisor and virtualization tweaks affecting mshv, vmbus, and hyperv. According to Phoronix, anyone running Linux 7.1 should look out for the new NTFS driver, Intel FRED for improved performance on Panther Lake and future CPUs, faster graphics with Intel Arc Battlemage, and improvements for older AMD Radeon GPUs. If you are running Linux on your computer and everything is fine, then you don’t need to worry about updating to Linux 7.1 as a priority; just wait for it to be pushed to you. If you have tried Linux on hardware but it didn’t work properly, trying again with a distro that uses Linux 7.1 could cause Linux to work on your machine, thanks to the new hardware support.
