Partition Magic on Windows 2000 Server

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know how to install Partition Magic on a Windows 2000 server?

I tried using NT Switch ( it worked on another system, but not this one :( ), And now, my whole domain is gone, good thing I did a backup a few days ago :)

If I try to install Partition Magic 7 when Windows is 'Pro' it starts to install and then says it cant run some ikernel program (part of the install shiled installer)

I really need to make a 4gig Partition without formating :)

Thanks for your help :)

Nope. You can't even boot up with the floppies and try to change it. You get a error 'Can't work in nt4/w2k server' You may be able to still do it. It you have a Linux distro lieing around they have a dos utility called filps wich will split a partition. I would not recomend doing it without making a back of the whole disk before using it. If you company has ghost or drive image you maybe able to image the drive up and then bring the image down again. You have the option of resizing the partition when reimaging. I would try this solution first. Then you could just just use w2k 's disk manager to crate a new partition and slect not to format if that is what you wanted.

Try this

, if you have Drive Image pro make a clone image of your server. Drive Image pro doesn?t work in Windows Server, but it does work at the command prompt before you get to Windows (note you will need to create a boot disk and copy the PQDI.exe file form Drive Image to a bootable DOS floppy). Then from there make a clone image and either copy the Drive Image to CDR or another partition on your hard drive.

Then restart Drive image while in the command prompt mode of Windows and choose to restore your image in your "C" drive and I believe there is a option to change the size of image to be restore choose either a large size or a small size, then restore the image and you will have more space on partition.

Hope this helps
