And it already runs at ~50 FPS in 720p on not final PS3 hardware. :|

I wonder why they decided to make everything glowing and bright. It makes that top picture look like the guy is wearing pink armor.

I, for one, despise the way HDR makes everything so shiny it burns your retina.

well, in reality, HDR is supposed to increase the accuracy of the lighting in 3D games. However, studios are going crazy with it, like when the lens flare was first introduced into digital imaging. It is a by product of the fad part of the technique. As soon as it becomes standard practice, more studios will use it properly like Valve.

Never said anything bad about the PS3?

Or said the Xbox360 was better?

Hahaha. Wow you went way back. That first post was from back before I worked at MS :p And if you go look at the screenshots they were talking about you'd have said the same thing.

So how much time did you spend reading all my posts? That's kind of creep actually.

As for the "Xbox 360 has a better..." post, that was meant to be ironic (I was responding to someone who said the PS3 had a better everything... When clearly neither can be proven). Notice the corresponding comments like "Coca-Cola President says Coke is better than Pepsi" and such. Context is everything ;)

I'm not anti-Playstation. I do feel ill will toward Sony regarding their rootkit and certain comments made by their RIAA representative ("It's okay if Linux/Mac users can't play our music CDs") - but mostly that's an unrelated matter. I do, at this time, prefer my Xbox 360 to my other consoles, and before I got that I definitely played my Xbox more than my GameCube, and played my GC a lot more than my PS2. But that's just a matter of where the good content was (for my tastes). I also have a DS and I'm a recovering Mario Kart addict.

If Sony makes a good console I'll probably buy it. If they continue to have good exclusive games like Katamari and MGS and GT, I definitely will. I wouldn't tell anyone to buy an X360 over a PS3 or vice versa.

Claims that the PS3 has an "obvious technological advantage" or that "games will look better on the PS3" are just plain bull**** - and I will call them out. If the PS3 arrives next year and games clearly look better than what's on the 360 - then you can make those claims. Right now you're comparing promises to reality, and it's my prerogative to object to that.

Enough off-topic. If you want to discuss PS3 or the X360, use another thread. We've got plenty that are more apt than this one.

What happened to the UT2007 screenshot thread that was in BPN? I expected it to be moved, but it looks like someone deleted it altogether. They look awesome (I think it was the PC version, but still related).

HDR is the new cell-shading. I hate it...

Yeah it's kind of bugging me. I hope Epic figures this out before they ship it. Subtle use of HDR is best. Problem is, it takes so much extra technology to make HDR happen that studios think doing it the "right" way somehow isn't worth the effort because it doesn't get ooooh and aaaahs when they demo it to their bosses.

Yeah I'm pretty much done debating with anyone about the PS3 vs. Xbox360. No point anymore, I've made my points and they've yet to be disputed in any reasonable fashion. What a system is capable of is shown through its games, so that is where the end line will be drawn. And once IBM builds that PETAflop Cell supercomputer in 2008 I don't think it'll be hard to say that Cell is a monster lol.

UT2007 though looks great. I personally think UE3.0 has hit its maximum limits in capability though. Sometimes a games framerate isn't dragged down due to the system it plays on, its dragged down due to the engine its running on. Still looks jaw dropping though, both GoW and UT2007.

You'll never hear me diss any future consoles graphics capability. I just trully believe the PS3 will be a pretty sizable advantage when its all said and done in the next years.

    • Zen Browser 1.21.4b by Razvan Serea Zen Browser is a privacy-focused, open-source web browser built on Mozilla Firefox, offering users a secure and customizable browsing experience. It emphasizes privacy by blocking trackers, ads, and ensuring your data isn't collected. With Zen Mods, users can enhance their browser experience with various customization options, including features like split views and vertical tabs. The browser is designed for efficiency, providing fast browsing speeds and a lightweight interface. Zen Browser prioritizes user control over the browsing experience, offering a minimal yet powerful alternative to traditional web browsers while keeping your online activity private. Zen Browser’s DRM limitation Zen Browser currently lacks support for DRM-protected content, meaning streaming services like Netflix and HBO Max are inaccessible. This is due to the absence of a Widevine license, which requires significant costs and is financially unfeasible for the developer. Additionally, applying for this license would require Zen to be part of a larger company, similar to Mozilla or Brave. Therefore, DRM-protected media won't be supported in Zen Browser for the foreseeable future. Zen Browser offers features that improve user experience, privacy, and customization: Privacy-Focused: Blocks trackers and minimizes data collection. Automatic Updates: Keeps the browser updated with security patches. Zen Mods: Customizable themes and layouts. Workspaces: Organize tabs into different workspaces. • I was using searxng for about a year , self hosted, but results were starting to timeout and eventually it became unusable so I switched to degoog. Much better for my needs, more polished and add-ons like maps and calculations etc

    • Hello, I am not as familiar with AMD CPUs as I am with Intel's, but as I understand it, that's a mid-range CPU from about three years ago.  I would think it to be fine for everyday casual-type use.  A larger SSD might be better, but with storage prices these days that's a decision that has to be carefully thought about.
