I don't really browse the photography there, but the drawing/painting scene there seems really strong. One of my favourites being Denis Peterson who is one of the prominent & premier photo/hyper-realists in NYC. Through his favourites you can check quite a community of talented artists.

Searching for him.

Really like him, however I dont see anything not done before by the likes of Chuck Close or Robert Gniewek.

Take a look at this painting by Gniewek.

Yes, that's a painting.

i just love her work!!!.. i wish i was that good.

check her out!.. http://xiaocaca.deviantart.com/ i have so much respect for her...

Both are great, however I dont consider them art. The first one is an illustrator. A formidable one.

The second one. She's talented, but I see too much of Rothko and Bacon on her work. She lacks her own voice. That is problematic specially since she's a painter. For better or worse, painting is death,

BTW, loving the April's fools feature on Deviantart :p

few gems of dA

yea i just noticed the Troll :p

and that painting u posted.. its brilliant. But he wasnt playing by the rules. That building on the back is too black if he was going for realism. but i get the whole effect..

Just a word in case anyone complains at some point. This thread was originated a few years ago, but clearly has value. So please carry on, guys. :)

Ah, just noticed! :pinch:

Silly One Post Wonder's reviving threads.

That's a bit of a simplistic evaluation.

damn! How come some folk end up bumping such old topics?

It is always hard to define what is crap and what is not. Someone people might see it as art and some might see it as crap. What do you accept and not accept. The idea is to come up with some kind of tool that will determine what is crap and not. Maybe have a committee that reviews the art and determines if it is art or junk. With a good variety and large amount of people on the committee they should be able to do a good job at determining art and crap. Although this would be tedious. Another option is to have a ranking or rating system. By default the art is a middle rating. If it falls below a certain rating within a certain period of time then remove the art. I have not been on DA in a long time. Does DA allow you to filter by rating? If you only look for art with a certain rating or higher then that should filter out stuff you do not want to see. I think DA is slow and rarely use it due to the speed.

    • Huh? I have an Aeron Remastered and the backrest cannot go up or down (only the lumbar is adjustable). Yes, the Doro C300 Pro V2's backrest can be locked, but the locking mechanism is so weak that when you recline and lean back the backrest moves with your body. I think the whole purpose of this chair is that all of the moving parts (except for the rocking, which can be locked in place) are supposed to move with your body, as you shift your weight, that's why I couldn't get used to it. Some people might like it though. Its redeeming factor is the price, I mean it costs like a quarter of what a new Herman MIller (Aeron) costs.
    • Well done Massie. This is how to treat the Fox News filth.
    • I notice how you dodged the questions I had about the racism shown by ignorant, gullible, cowardly people when the Poles, like your partner, were the immigrants. Ahem. I wonder how you'd feel if native born Brits suddenly treated you as "dirty crooked immigrant" for being half Trump-American? If they ordered you to leave and "go back to your corrupt country" (on the other side of the Atlantic), would you go? The truth is based on facts as supported by evidence. As requested in your previous posts, I have used the facts in your own post to show everyone the truth.
    • US citizens are paying to their government, who could use that to fund healthcare and tuition and relieve the costs of these for citizens instead of making tax breaks that overwhelmingly favor the rich. I'm not saying that tariffs are the correct solution, but what else would they be used for? What else could Trump have in mind for wanting them, if he hasn't figured out that labor costs are higher in the US?
