I'm looking to get a tattoo

if you dont speak speak it-- dont get it...

do it in english

I don't need a lecture. Either post a real reply or don't bother posting. Thanx Tungsten T, I was thinking about Arabic but thought it could offend some people.

That's actually exactly what i'm doing too, only with symbols (adds a little humour to it when people ask you what it means and you are forced to tell them).

You think it's trendy in Japan and China to get tattoos of english words?

I don't really care

wasnt intended as a lecture but advice... im inked all over (including french on my wrist and inside my bottom lip, so really... not a lecture...) but i've met enough artists to know they will mock the hell out of you once they get their money and you've left.

but if thats what you want thats what matters... but my advice, if you dont even know what language you want it in, re-think it.

Meaningless tatoos are cool. Especially when your 50 and your like wtf was i thinking?

Oh ya Arabic is good....

Meaningless posts are also cool (and you are cool). I don't see getting 2 small tatoos as being something i'm really going to regret when i'm 50. I also said Arabic might not be the best option but oh well....who knows.

Didn't mean to sound like a d*** but i'm really not concerned what tatoo artists think as it's really meant to be a joke (icebreaker).

P.S. getting a tattoo on the inside of your bottom lip must have felt good.

i have a tribal design on my arm, old english lettering on my chest and a heartagram on my lower stomach so im not new to tattoos, but what i know for sure is to get what you want and only if your 100% certain. if you gotta come on a forum and ask advice then you really arent 100% sure. i would sit down, rethink long and hard without needing advice and decide on your own. just my opinion take it as you want.

I am 100% sure of what I want. I want a specific saying that can be translated into a language containing symbols rather than words (as I stated already). I was simply curious as to other languages (if someone had any unique ideas) other than Chinese/Japanese/Arabic that I might be able to use.

Another thing to consider is the type of shading.

I would also suggest getting your first tattoo in a covered area within easy reach to take care of it. And get some more info on the artist/shop, ask for an album of the guys work. My ex and her sister both have uneven tattoos for the rest of their lives.

I have a few tattoos spreading all over my body, I dont regret one of them.

Of course, I never came online asking tech forums what they think I should get.

#1 rule in deciding what tattoo you should get: Dont get anything trendy. No tribals, and no freaking asian characters.

Get a barcode like #47 behind your neck.

That'd be awesome.

Or you could settle with "Allah" in Arabic written form and get the beating of your life by Muslim gangs.

Yeah, I really have to be careful with what I get, especially if it's Arabic, since Muslim gangs are a real problem where I live.

Why post this? This, along with a million other posts on Neowin, are not tech related. My #1 rule is not to post stupid responses. Don't worry about it, i'll get what I want

I think its a good thing he posted here. Where else would you get constructive criticism and some help in this matter. Not only that if he asks Joe friend, Joe friend will probably tell him what he wants is cool . Well friends are not always the best people to for a full honest opinion.

They are right about it being your own idea, put your own touch into it and enjoy your art. (refrain from using ms paint)

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
