I am stating that i dont like it .. not intending to annoy anyone ..

If that annoys you, then that's your problem, im seriously just stating my opinion, nothing else.

Have a good day :)

aaww, that's so cute, trying to sound like the "okay" guy after being a complete and utter dick.

No, he stated he loved it, and he stated *why*.

You just bursted out saying you didn't like it, with bold emphasis, and you felt COMPELLED To let us know RIGHT NOW.

You suck. Merry christmas.

Man I Dont Love Linux!....

Well sir, this IS trolling. If you do not have anything useful to add to this thread, then move on to a forum of other non-Linux loving people.

Fortunately, most of the members who use this forum are mature, thoughtful people. If you fit in, then fine. If not, keep on moving.

linux rules...i've been using ubuntu 5.10 for the past 4 days and i love it....i think im gonna completely switch to it

Excellent... and welcome aboard!

Ubuntu Linux was relatively hassle-free for me, but I always seem to end up going back to Windows, mainly because I can't live without Photoshop. :p

If there were a Linux version, I'd be all set...and no, GIMP is not an acceptable alternative.

looks like barneyt just wants to be moderator.. lol

anyway, ya I love linux as well, i use debian for my server, and well. i would like to use linux as much as I can, but it just doesn't support the programs i need. I always hate that and can't wait until the day linux becomes part of all distrubtions.

programs like

flash 8

photoshop cs

i use them to work and well, if i can't work then what is the point of using it right :(

one day.

Hmm...honestly i don't think theres gonna be a day where those programs get ported to linux.

Pretty much Every Linux Opinion thread ends up having some retarded people fighting.

And that is too bad when it does, because the computing world is big enough for all tastes and desires!

lmao...

I think it's bad that you can't have a proper chat about something, without getting ridiculously out of context. I can understand your dislike for something such as linux but at least back up your opinion.

Indeed. Someone comes in and says "I HATE TEH LINSUX!!111" and it ****s the topic.

Anywho, I like Linux also, use it on my test computer and eventually in VMware, but since I've been using Windoze for so damn long, I may not be able to use Linux on a regular basis.

I've always liked Linux, however Ubuntu is the first distro I used over 5 days without wanting to boot into Windows. After getting my Intel wifi to fully work (the 2200b/g is sorta/kinda broken out of box) I am one happy man.

However it is begging to have the kernel upgraded to 2.6.12_10.25 from 2.6.12_10... but because my drivers are installed in a kernel dir that won't be used after I upgrade.. I am rather scared to upgrade as last time I upgraded the kernel to _10 from an older version and it broke the wifi. So I agree partially with markjensen. Upgrades are painless UNLESS its a kernel upgrade.

With that said... anyone know how to disable checking for updates regarding the kernel, that way it wont beg that it needs to be upgraded. In fedora this is by default, but not the case in Ubuntu.

I dont have a problem with linux, I use Windows tough, as it runs all the prgrams I like. Where linux does not. Simple as really. I use MSN messenger alot and Office, they dont work on linux. Now yes there are prgrams out like MSN and Office. But I Dont like the programs as much. Amsn is just lame. Till they make linux have more surrport, I will stay with Windows.

I just want to add, alot of people on here say linux is g8, no bugs and that. It crashed on me a few times. and the linux I used came with a firewall, now if it does that. It cant be all that safe. But yes it is safer then Windows.

No OS, is better. Both are good, both are crap. Use what one is write for you.

When i'm using Ubuntu, and it needs a kernel upgrade it's always been fine (i don't have a lot of kernel drivers though), the only issue i have seen, is apt doesn't always remove the old kernel, it installs the new one side-by-side and sets the new kernel as the default in grub.

what i also like about it, most of the time upgrading a core component doesn't require a system reboot (think Windows)

I am also impressed by Ubuntu Linux but I don't use it.

I would only consider using it if had what I would call any 'real' applications that I can use with the same productivity as a Microsoft or Apple os which is a shame really.

Until then I am perfectly satisfied with my windows os.

    • Grand Theft Auto VI pricing revealed alongside Ultimate Edition and pre-loading details by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Last week, Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders will be starting soon, and just a day ahead of that, now the studio has announced the official pricing for the highly anticipated game. This has been a hotly debated topic among fans and industry veterans for a long time, considering the game is expected to be the biggest entertainment product launch ever. The confirmed pricing for the Grand Theft Auto VI standard edition is $79.99, which Rockstar says gives access to the "single-player experience set in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet." This follows what most of our readers thought would happen with the pricing too. At the same time, a $99.99 Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition has been confirmed as well, which lands with "an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story." Pre-ordering will also give fans extra bonuses, including a Vintage Vice City Pack of cosmetic items as well as a free month of GTA+. Head to the official website of the game here to check out all the cosmetic rewards the Ultimate Edition and pre-orders bring. Interestingly, the studio does not mention Grand Theft Auto VI multiplayer at all in today's announcement. Perhaps this will arrive later, following the campaign launch, or the studio is keeping that reveal for a later date. Digital pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will begin on June 25, 2026, at midnight local time across regions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The title is slated to launch on November 19 on those same platforms. Pre-loading for Grand Theft Auto VI will kick off on November 12, giving players a week to get the game ready on their consoles. As for the physical edition, Take-Two has confirmed that this will be available without a disc, with the box only containing a download code inside. This will be purchasable starting November 12, giving players who take this route time to pre-load the title as well.
    • Turbo Pascal was my first real programming experience more than 30 years ago at university. I mostly taught myself from the included examples and help documentation, because the university only taught the basic syntax and philosophy of Pascal, without going deeply into Turbo Pascal’s advanced features. I still remember when I discovered that I could embed assembly language directly into Pascal code, call BIOS functions, manipulate screen memory, use mouse interrupts, and control peripherals from my programs. That opened huge doors for me. Programming back then felt really fun, direct, and close to the machine. What I loved about Pascal was its readability and the almost instant compile time. Turbo Pascal was an amazing environment, but unfortunately Turbo Pascal for Windows 3 did not feel like it fully carried that legacy forward. Later, Delphi got things back on the right track after the messy transition to TP for Windows. Sadly, Delphi suffered from years of uncertainty as it moved from Borland to CodeGear and then to Embarcadero. That instability made many developers lose confidence in it, even though Delphi itself remained a powerful and productive tool. I still work with Delphi from time to time, but I definitely miss the old days of Turbo Pascal.
    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
