How to find your XP Key your using without ViewkeyXP!

edit : i found out that viewkey app does not view the $winnt$.inf file to get the key info because i've changed the key and it still appeared on $winnt$.inf as the first key i had but with the app it shows the new one

All that you guys are seeing is the unattend.txt/winnt.sif file from an unattended install, really! We all get one, but its just a standard one that doesn't automate anything.

I have had a look inside ViewKeyXP.exe. He reads a registry entry called digitalproductkey, which is encrypted. He then decrypts it and displays it on screen. I think apart from the unattended install file, there is not going to be an unencrypted version lying about on the machine(apart from the stickers on the top of HP machines in your local Comet/PCWorld !! ) They key can be found under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersion if anyone is interested.
