Question
metallithrax
I am looking for a program that may not exist. I have a text file that is about 2.5 million lines in length. The beginning of each line starts with a number (from 1 to about 1300), and there could be 3000 lines starting with the same number. I would like a program that will split the text file into smaller files by the beginning of the line.
So all lines starting with 1 are copied and saved into one text file, all those starting with 2 are saved into a text file, etc.
Does anyone know of such a program. I have been (and still am) searching myself, but haven't been able to find anything.
