NFS: MW. How to not get busted?

Recommended Posts

Uhh... just don't get caught, keep moving, if you get stopped with a line of cops in front of you, slam it into reverse fast. There isn't much more you can say than that, it just takes skill and practice. I've NEVER been busted in my actual game (once in the demo).

Its tough sometimes. Before getting boxed in, you can use the slow-motion to shake them off a bit. Hit the nitro and push off the car by putting all your car's power into the rear of the cop car. Pushing it against the cop's engine block won't get you anywhere esp with the vans.

Stay away from the highways, its too easy to get boxed in there. Stay on the city streets when you're level gets high, and hit 3 or 4 breakers (the red triangles in a row), then find a hiding spot. I've gotten busted a few times. Only cause I slowed down on the high way - the vans are tough there.

I can't even count how many times I got busted because one police car was "touching" me on the sides and the car wouldn't accelerate. At 380 km/h police cars still can accelerate and even go faster than you at level one ! I don't know if the pc game is so bogus as the xbox version but it's nearly impossible to not have been busted once or you just started the game ...

- Don't use a lot of nitro when you don't need it

- When they put a roadblock infront of you ALWAYS crash into a car. NEVER try to take the easy way out. You'll end up getting spiked

- Always hit the car's rear end in a roadblock

It takes a lot of practise, but you'll master it pretty easily

My experience is learn how to use reverse to make a 180 on a dime it takes some practice but comes in handy if its a two-way road that your leading them to, it also makes a bunch of them crash and some blow up adding up to the damage costs.

Care to elaborate more? Do you do this at speed? Sometimes if im going slow with a line of cops in front of me, I push it into reverse, do a 180 and book it in the opposite direction...

Also, use a car that doesn't have a twitchy back end, use a car that can acc elerate from a stop in a hurry, and not just spin the tires. Mid-engined cars are better for this, 4WD and FWD are the best.

Well, if you have nitro there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be able to get away. If you can't get away with nitro you may want to reconsider a different game haha. I play on my PC with an Xbox 360 controller and really haven't been caught. I think I'm about halfway through (haven't played in ages since I'm on break) and I've had plenty of good chases (20 minutes a few times) and quite a few VERY close calls, but I've never been busted yet with my actual profile.

I do it with many quick fast breaks to slow it down some then do the 180. Plus I find the only thing RWD cars are good for is drifting and that's about it.

That's why, if you're only halfway through the game it hasn't gotten hard yet. Wait til you hit the #3 and above, then come back and tell us you haven't been busted, that would be impressive.

Don't stop to pick up the hookers!!!!!

lol... jk

try to keep a medium pace, side swipe the rear ends of cop cars when they try to box u, and do the same to civilian vehicles to take out a few of the cops trailing behind u, finally pick and soup up a small car that can accelerate fast for weaseling out for those stopped/boxed positions.

If you're just trying to build up bounty and milestones just speeding around one of the motorways is probably the best way to do it, you can go around them for ages without getting caught even on level 4/5. When ploughing through road blocks aim for the back of the cop cars, they fly out of the way much easier.

Agreed. Stay on the highway as much as possible.

Try spinning the police cars out with the P.I.T. maneuvre (if you played Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas you'll know what I mean)

Save the nitro to accelerate out of a standing stop or to ram a roadblock. You CANNOT outrun the cops with nitro while travelling at speed.

Using speedbreaker should be second nature.

Look at the map often, so you can see roadblocks/spike strip traps ahead.

If the road ahead is clear, and police are beside you, use the opportunity to broadside them, ram them into medians or other vehicles until they are disabled.

Adding to that, avoid the ramps connecting the highway systems as much as possible. It's way too easy for cops to jam you in that narrow piece of roadway - especially if there's SUVs ready to slam into you head on.

This is definitely vital for challenges such as that Black Edition cop chase challenge with pure heavy SUVs chasing after you. :|

some good tips there.. my best trick is to hit the highway beside the golf course, where the bridge and sign is, (comming from the police station- bang a right to get to the highway) i run from the bridge to the tunnel and do a 180 just before the tunnel (theres a drop off to the road) it bungs them up, and after the bridge where the turn is, the roadblocks are easy to get by (unless you like ramming) -also when ramming- go for the sawhorse.. its the weakspot.. then when i've reached my goals, i go thru the golf course- take the back way thru the woods and hit the cabin breaker to finish off the following cops, then hide in the barn.. ive beaten the game 2x using this.. great fun.. also get a heavy car with power and speed for ramming, traction is a need also.. the junkman parts help.. the mclaren is a great car for this.

Only either use AWD vehicles (like the Mitsubishi lancer evo 8 or the subaru WRX) or VERY well handling RWD cars for police chases (like the porsche 911 turbo or the porsche carrera (anyone else notice that the porsches seem to way outhandle any other rwd cars in the game?)).

If you have a long string of cops following you on a highway either drive REALLY fast or get of the highway and hit a few pursuitbreakers.

Start pursuits at low heat levels; Pursuits are hard enough as it is, you don't wanna start them with 20 corvettes looking for you from the beginning. (get your heat down by either painting over your ride or using a differrent ride for a while)

if you're being boxed in it means you've reacted to late; never let cops stay in front of you, either ram/nudge cops out of the way (a slight push against roughly the area of the rearwheels of a car will make them spin) or use nitro to get in front of them.

If you see SUVs coming ahead of you avoid hitting them at all costs! they stop you very fast (if you're a good enough driver you can get those SUVs to take out some of the cops pursuing you btw).

and as many others have mentioned before me, but it can't be stressed enough, watch your radar; it's vital to spot roadblocks before you hit them.

oh and another thing: what a lot of people don't seem to know about NFS:MW is that you can race every race (except for the blacklist challenges) as often as you want and you keep winning money for them this makes getting exactly the right car for police pursuits pretty easy (I have 11 cars right now of which 10 are tuned as far as I can atm; I'm #5 on the blacklist)

(to go to races from earlier blacklist opponents chose the blacklist icon in your menu and press up or down when on the blacklist statistics screen (the one mentioning how many race wins you need and stuff like that)).

Don't wait for the cops to box you in, if you haven't noticed yet they're pretty easy to spin out just by hitting them in the back quarter panel. Stay on the highway and keep taking them out if there's alot of them.

Always keep an eye on the map for roadblocks, hit the speedbreaker if you're not sure where the weak link or spike trip is, and always hit them in the back half, they'll go flying.

Don't waste your nitro, you'll need to accelerate quickly when at a dead stop.

Don't be afraid to reverse several hundred metres out of situations and do a 180 turn.

I always stick to the main highway in the first city, round and round, until i've met the milestones. Once i've met them, I turn into the stadium where there are 2 race breakers, 1 on either side. This usually takes out all the cops, and when it does, there's a hiding spot right there waiting for you.
