NFS: MW. How to not get busted?

Recommended Posts

The best advice here is definately to use a 4WD/AWD car. The Viper, Corvette, DB9, Carrera GT... all rubbish for police pursuits. I've found the biggest difference is made if u misjudge a corner and hit a wall, in a RWD car, the rear wheels will simply push your car further into the wall and make it square off to the wall, whereas in a 4WD/AWD car, the front wheels rotating while steering can pull you out of it quite easily.

My recommended best car: Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8.

Completed the career part a couple of days ago :)

Btw the Lambo Gallardo is also good :)

yeah man Lambo Gallardo with all performance mods... just smash the cops around and stick to highways, as soon as u get to cooldown find a hinding place asap cuz the cooldown speeds right up. im almost finished, Black List 3 coming up...

The way I got through the chases for the milestone events was to go around in a circle going in and out of the stadium. The will allow you to avoid the roadblocks and spiketrap because they will spawn at the same location and you can easily avoid them and complete the milestones. When you eventually lose the cops just hide out in the lower level of the stadium.

For chases elsewhere I tried to get to the highway or if I was close to the stadium I would go there and did my best not to run into the SUV's and spiketraps along the way.

I just won the Gallardo, and I have to say, it's brilliant :woot: :woot: :woot: :woot:

I've got ford gt, mclaren and all 3 porsche. Which ones best for pursuits? Still saving money to make the final porsche good.

(If you think thats excessive, don't. I use the alt f4 method of getting out of pursuits if I have to... though I can do pursuits, the pursuit I completed for blacklist 2... I got all 4 (non speed cam) sections in that pursuit and damn that was hard)

I agree :woot: I had to use it in one of the tollbooth challenges. One time, I did a sharp turn with NOS and my Gallardo did a 2-wheeler (the car was around 60 degrees) around the corner and back to 4 tires. It was so funny, I forgot to take a screenshot. :D

Agree with above post; keep your speed down a bit, so that you have more time to make decisions and see obstacles such as spikestrips, also use your mini-map to look for road blocks, and turn around if you see them. And don't forget those speedbreakers! ;)

i like merc-mclaren car most. i foun dt fastest and most agile. maybe not heavy but who cares.

yesterday drove from cops for over 30 mins...so much fun!!!

I managed 18 minutes with a Supra. Kind of fun, but playing so long (On a PS2) is just... Unhealthy. It got tedious after a while. Waiting to get the PC version though. Though Im really fond of the analog control of the car on the PS2.

To escape depends on what you are up against.

City police: are a breeze. Just Bang them up to disable them. That is fairly simple.

Unmarked patrol cars and cruisers, roadblocks : You can get through by ramming the cars on either end of the roadblock or by going through a weak point like the sawhorse or a gap between the cars. Use Speedbreaker to see the weak point in the roadblocks and use nitrous to ram straight through. Some road blocks will not extend all the way across the road -- you can go through where they have not placed a car.

Marked GTO (Monaro) police cars, marked 4WDs (Rhinos), rolling road blocks, roadblocks: you need to use objects to knock down in front of them to disable them. Lead the chase with these vehicles through the cities to use knock down points (for example, the giant donut sign, etc.) to disable the vehicles and end the chase. Then, find somewhere to hide when you hit Cool Down mode. "Rhinos" will ram you from the front. Listen for the call over the police radio. You can usually see these coming on your map or on the road ahead. Depending on which car you have, you can get away with ramming them head on. Otherwise, just use Speedbreaker again to change lanes before they ram you.

Unmarked GTO (Monaro) police cars, helicopters, spike strips: Staying ahead and using the same tactics used in level 3. For the helicopters, use tunnels and underground parking lots to escape from them. Spike strips are set up usually on main roads and highways. You can see them on the map when you see only one vehicle over to left of the road not driving (i.e., pulled over). Aim for the police car and use nitrous to ram it and get away.

Cross and his team: Make sure you are in your fastest vehicle. You will need the nitrous. And Good Luck. You need to use any means to get away lol.

hrrrm, I've had more luck leaading the 'vettes through town and just constantly hitting pursuit breakers. It gives you some insane bounty scores if 10 or so 'vettes hit a pursuit breaker :D

Haven't done the final pursuit yet though; I'm talking about a normal heat 5 pursuit

here's another little tip to help slow down the cops that are behind yeah.. The truckers that have logs on them, run into the rear wheels on either side to knock the logs off and that kinda makes a roadblock that'll slow down the cops some.

Cross and his team is when you are in heat 5 I think. I haven't seen it but I hear he's crazy MF lol

except for very rarely in a roadblock I haven't come across cross yet (can you believe the idiot puts his obscenely fast car in a roadblock to stop me? his car flies just as well as the other cop cars, so if you see him, hit him :p).

Hello there, I have already finished the game and have seen that many people need a few tips on how to not get busted by the police. Since I've never got busted, I thought I share my thoughts and ideas here.

  • Best area to go on a long pursuit is the highway that surrounds Rosewood

I find that the Rosewood highway is a good area to have a long pursuit as nearly all the roads are long and wide. it also allows you to see far and react quickly if there is a roadblock. There are also an abundance of exits for you to get out if something goes wrong. The pursuit breakers are also plentiful near the highway such as the stadium and donut at the Petersburgh section. Do not become too dependent on the map as sometimes the roadblocks will not even show on the map at condition 5. Also when they put a roadblock and spike strip it is easier to evade as the road for the most part is wide.

  • When seeing a roadblock or spike strip, do not speed up

When you see a roadblock or spike strip, do not speed up as it will ultimately mean you will not have time to see the weak spots in the block. Use the slow down meter and aim for the blocks weakest part (either the saw horses or the back of the police car) and even then do not go to slow or you will not break through and will be quickly surrounded by police cars. Going too fast will have the opposite effect of you flying and turning and still getting cornered.

  • When you are being chased by a number of police cars, cut them down

At condition 5, 25 police corvettes will be on your tail (inlcluding Cross) so minimise the number by using pursuit breakers. Trust me, you will enjoy it even more when Cross gets it (200,000 bounty on pursuit breaker). Do not go into small roads with about 10 cars behind your back as they can easily pounce on you if you make a mistake especially the two tunnels on the Rosewood highway. Do not worry about using too many pursuit breakers as they will magically repair after a while.

  • Remember your Cooldown spots

When in cooldown mode, remember your hiding spots as it could mean life and death (Seriously). Make for the nearest hiding spot to your location, listen to the radio and check the map frequently to ensure you do not come up against any cops.

I hope all these tips will help you in racking up that bounty as I'm sure you will. Another note to remember is to use the car you're most comfortable with when being chased. For me it is my Porsche Carrera GT. Just finish cleaning up my rap sheet (I'm number 1 in all single and lifetime pursuit). So now I only have my challenges to finish. Until another time, goodbye and good luck.
