Years ago, Hotmail was capable of retrieving email from external POP3 accounts. Back in those days I thought it was a fairly useless feature, but today I have finally found a use for it. Problem is, I can't find it anywhere in the Options.

Where did it go? Is it still available, or has MSN removed it?

The Help pages still have the topics for this functionality, but they are all dead links.

Oh, and I'm only on Hotmail Free.

I've been using this for a while and it is useful. But i think only people who subscribe now can use it. Anyone could use it before but then they restricted it i think. I remember getting an email saying people who already can use it can carry on but from now on only subscribers can. Not totally sure though, see if anyone else can confirm this.

u need to pay for pop access now, if u click on upgrade u can see the packages avail.

This discussion is in regards to retrieving POP mail from external accounts via Hotmail. This is not the same as using a POP client (Outlook/Thunderbird) to read your hotmail.

i still got it, it is only for ppl with old accounts and they didn't remove it.

I have a free hotmail account i get POP checking and i can also check\download messages in Outlook \ Express for free.

Lucky me

I still have it as well :D If you had it setup already when they made it a service you had to pay for Hotmail let you keep it ;)
