Official Graphics Drivers Thread

Recommended Posts

This is to be the only thread for ATI & nVidia Drivers. All other threads are subject to being deleted or closed without notice.

ATI Catalyst Drivers:

Catalyst 5.13 (December 05) - Release Notes (HTML)

Catalyst Control Center requires .NET Framework 1.1

nVidia ForceWare Drivers:

ForceWare 81.98 (December 05) - Release Notes (PDF)

ATI Linux Drivers:

Version 8.20.8 (December 05)

nVidia Linux Drivers:

Version 1.0-8187 (December 05)

I'll try to keep this as up-to-date as possible. If there's an OS missing you'd like me to add, please post it and I'll add it whenever I can. If you notice that the original post hasn't been updated in sometime, you can always PM me a little reminder, but do not go overboard with that ;)

I'm not sure this is such a good idea. People often discuss new graphics drivers, how is that going to be possible here with noy only different versions mixed up but also ATI and NVidia mixed in the same thread?

I liked how things were before, each driver release having it's own thread.

Is it ok to have individual threads in drivers discussion & assistance for discussing the drivers? If so that would probably be better since the discussion doesn't belong in BPN really.

Exactly. BPN is just suppose to be for computer-related news. If you need help with drivers, then that is for DDA ;)

This thread is merely for announcing new drivers.

another vote for bad idea

drivers are on computers, so its computer related

There's nothing wrong with posting new drivers here, but support questions should be in Drivers Discussion & Assistance, which is what it is there for. BPN is for news, DDA is for support ;)

What about customized driver sets such as Omega, UniAN, zer0point, etc.?

I'll keep it up-to-date as possible. As long as they work with ATI or nVidia cards.

Would be nice to have the links to the download page and not just direct links. Also, what about linux drivers? Does this mean we can discuss about linux graphic drivers in other threads or does it also have to be here?

I personally haven't seen anyone post ATI or nVidia Linux drivers, but if you want them listed then post them here, otherwise they may be subject to closure or deletion.

Most of us *nixers get the updates automatically when we do an apt-get update. ;)

However, there has been a couple of times when driver performance under different versions has been discussed in the *nix sections. Those would likely remain open, as would any thread on technical problems.

The Nvidia ForceWare drivers for normal XP are also able to be installed under 2000. could you please specify that in the main post? I believe they can also be installed on 2003. Please correct if that is wrong.

The Windows XP x64 drivers are also compatible with 2003 x64.

Should we go back to the old way of spawning separate threads for each new driver release?

ATI's already at Catalyst 6.2. nVidia has silently refreshed the ForceWare 81.98 driver.

    • On the one hand, it shouldn't be difficult. You buy a computer, you decide what OS you want, which browser etc. Simple enough. But that's the techie side of things. My sister, my mother, wouldn't bother with such a thought. And I'm pretty sure that if you presented a window asking them what to pick they would say, "I don't care! I just want to access my Email!"

    • Anyone who expects MS to play fair is a complete idiot.
    • Everyone behaves like Internet Explorer just never happened and Edge is whole new thing all while Microsoft is pulling the exact same ###### it did back then. Sigh.
