Question
Miso Soup
I recently installed a whole series of spyware programs by accident via a trojan. While I have removed all the offending programs from my computer, I still face a problem where upon bootup, a window popups complaining that there is an error with VCMain.exe.
I have attached a screenshot here.
The computer functions perfectly when I dismiss the dialogue box, but it is annoying nevertheless. I've run Windows Rollback several times to fix the problem - although it's okay for a few bootups, it seems to come back afterwards.
Some of the trojans/spyware programs that were installed, but now removed include:
Trojan.Adclicker
Adware.Qoolaid
Adware.DollarRevenue
Adware.EasyWWW
Trojan.Abwiz
Trojan.StartPage
These are definitions provided by Norton Antivirus, but when I removed them I needed to use a mix of other programs.
The window is certainly annoying. Will it be possible to simply get another copy of VCMain.exe from someone else and replace it? I know that the spyware/trojan combination affected the file/how windows uses the file in someway.
I would really appreciate any help possible!
