Xbox 360 Controller Configuration File

Recommended Posts

It seemed that there are a few people floating about having problems with the Xbox 360 controller for Windows, especially a couple on GTA: San Andreas (including me)

However, I finally accomplished a full map of all the practical controls in the SAAC (San Andreas Advanced Control)

This very useful tool is available for dowload through GTAGaming.com (San Andreas Advanced Control v1.2)

The config file I have created is attatched at the bottom of the post...

The controls are as follows....

Please Note: The A Button is SPRINT while on foot.

On Foot...

In Vehicle...

Follow the link to the attatched file "presets.txt" below, copy and paste all the text on the page into a new notepad document then save the file as "PRESETS.INI" in the SAME FOLDER that you save the .exe application for the SAAC tool, run SAAC along side San Andreas in the background each time you play, and don't forget to select the XBOX 360 controller configuration in the list at the bottom, and save any changes you make!

Enjoy!

It's called "controller drift", and it's a pain in the arse

It's a bit hard to explain from memory, but you need to take the controller apart, and pull the plastic part of the thumbstick off.

You will see these thin bits of metal that arch over the rods. (not using the right words there, I'm sure, but hopefully when you look at it, you'll know what I mean)

Anyway, you need to bend that bit of metal (very slightly) so that it forces the thumbstick back into the correct default position.

It will probably take a bit of trial and error, but it worked great for me.

OK, here you see somebody has used a rubber band to do the same thing...

you can see the bit of metal/copper I was talking about.

I'd say my way was better, because I don't see that rubber band lasting very long.

Old thread, but I'm going to answer you anyway. Most of these programs come with a way to change the "Dead Zone" of the sticks. Just make the dead zone a little bigger and you shouldn't have a problem anymore.

    • Honestly, i either don't care, mind, use, or had any problem with those. 11 is really good for me, has a lot of little refinements, looks great, if i wanted to tweak/fix it's behavior i would with a range of tools, and wouldn't come back to the 2010's looking Win 10 even at gunpoint.
    • You dont want a expensive hp laptop either managed to get 3 new zbooks and they all died on me.
    • Nothing inherently wrong, but why buy 2021 tech in 2025? Assuming you were aiming for 6-10 years of usage, better to buy something current.
    • I have begun using Windows 11 native passkey feature. i have four passkeys set up so far. Three work fine, One has never worked. I have removed it and recreated it several times, still no luck. Anyway, on the websites in which it works, it works geat. No more two 2FA.
