So, as my first ever hardware project, I'm trying to install 512MB of memory to up my overall capacity to 1GB of memory. I have 3 slots, and I'm trying to get this stick of RAM into the second.

It's identical, except for sticker positioning and brand, so it should work. After a while I managed to get it to go into the groove, but as I suspected there is a problem. The video card.

From what I can see, the right hand clip is coming out fine, but the left hand one is being instructed by the video card, so it wont come out completely. I think that the little bit that it seens to move out (about 2 millimetres) is probably what is stopping it from going right in.

Do you agree with my theory? If so, how easy is a graphics card to remove?

Thanks,

Tim

I know what you mean, the same thing happens in my case. Push the RAM down hard and the clip should "click" into the slot on the side of the RAM.

If you want to bes safe, take your graphics card out (it's easy) and then put your RAM in. If it's AGP, just rock it back and forth on each side until it pops out.
