Belinea 102035W 20.1" Widescreen LCD

Recommended Posts

I have a feeling that this thread is going to grow as big, if not similar, to the size of the 2005fpw review.

Anyways, cool monitor, but the buttons seem to be very hard to press. I still like the design of the 2005fpw more, but I sure like the integrated speakers.

Once it's on the internet, you can never go back!

This is my first review on Neowin, please go easy one me.

Since my 3 year old Sony 17" LCD died, I decided to buy this. This LCD is only currently available within Europe.

I managed to get a good deal and at a total cost of: ?339.46

Belinea have long been known as a provider of budget TFT models, and have had little impact in the mainstream enthusiast market. However, the new 102035W is the first screen on the market to use AU Optronics' 8ms G2G response time, 20.1" Widescreen, P-MVA panel (M201EW01 V0). This is the larger version of the already infamous 8ms P-MVA panel used in the 19" market in such models as the Viewsonic VP191B, Xerox XA7-192i and Dell 1905FP. The larger 20" WS version was eagerly anticipated and Belinea have managed to provide it to the public first.

The panel is essentially a larger panel matrix version of the 19" M190EN03 V0, and offers an 8ms response time achieved through the use of AU Optronics' well controlled overdrive technology. This is the first panel in the 20" market to really offer a low response time, and this makes the screen suited well for gaming if you want to reach outside the 17" and 19" market. Combine this with good colour reproduction, smooth movie playback and truly wide viewing angles (thanks to the P-MVA panel technology) and you have the makings of an excellent screen.

PDF Specifications: http://partnernet.maxdata.co.uk/download/D..._112005_ENG.pdf

Brief Specifications:

- 1680 x 1050 (WUXGA) Optimum Resolution

- 16.7 Million Colours

- 800:1 Contrast Ratio

- 8ms Response Time

- 300 cd/m2 Brightness

- One DVI-D Input

- One Analogue Input

- VESA mounting compatible / Security slot : Yes (100mm) / Yes

- Integrated powered USB 2.0 hub : 4 downstream / 1 upstream ports

- Integrated Speakers

- Warranty : 3 year on-site warranty supplied by Manufacturer

Pros:

-Virtually no ghosting, thanks to overdrive technology and fast response times

-Very bright screen, rich colours, deep blacks, white whites.

-Excellent viewing angles (178 degrees vertical/horizontal)

-Has both DVI and VGA inputs

-Has a built in USB2.0 4 port hub

-Good aesthetics

-Sturdy metal base

-Has a tilt adjustment

Cons:

-No height adjustment

-No rotate adjustment

-Built in speakers weak (although this is expected)

Overall, this is an excellent screen for the price. It has a better panel than the Dell 2005fpw, but also at a cheaper price. The built in speakers are useful if you want to take the LCD to a presentation, etc and don't have any speakers available and just want to play a few powerpoint presentations etc. Albeit, to a small audience, since the speakers are only 2W.

No Nakeys here! :o

Sounds like a nice monitor though. I'm looking to get rid of this 19" CRT and upgrade to a nice LCD screen sometime soon, so I'll have to keep these kind of things in mind. I am thinking about the 2405FPW though because I'd like to get a monitor that will be big enough for 1080p and just watch my movies and TV on there with MCE. We'll see though.

Edit: Maybe the image host was dead, because the pictures just came in and... *gasp* well now, we certainly can't have that can we?!

Damn nice monitor, playing games at that native resolution will kill any PC unless you have a 7800 or X1800.

that's not true, HL2 runs perfectly smooth on it at full settings with aa and af on a 6800GT as well as oblivion with highers ettings minus af and aa (not really needed at such a res anyway though heh)

    • Did Labour lose big? They had losses there is no doubt. However let's look at the reality. The conservatives have 168 councils I believe. Labour have 113 and Reform...38. That's a lot of growth for Reform granted. But that is not a wipeout, Reform don't have the majoring in fact at 76 I believe the Liberal Democrats have nearly twice the councils Reform do. So I am thinking there is a lot more noise than signal going on here. Now then let's talk about the law. It's an age restriction. We do it for cigarettes, **** and alcohol. This idea that some kids will find there way around it so it's not worth even trying is really really sad. Hell we can't stop every murder. Should we stop trying there too? That is the logical conclusion.
    • A game not selling doesn't mean the people working on it did "bad work". It reviewed decently well. It was also on gamepass on release.
