-You need to search first.

-You need to read the thread first.

...and welcome to the boards.

I've got a quick question before I install the current version. Will this mess up my computer? Last time I installed it using the hack-o-matic way, my computer got stuck at a black screen, and I had to reinstall. Thanks in advance, guys! :)

I'm extremely sorry for the double post, but I decided to bite the bullet and install it anyway. I worked! My only remaining question is why does the boot screen look pixelated on my system? I can deal with it, but it looks kinda weird.

is this safe for windows 2003? i don't wanna mess up the server at work...has anyone tried it ?
It's as safe on Win2k3 as it is on WinXP, but really, you shouldn't be installing it on a "production" machine, unless you have a good disaster recovery system or are incredibly brave/stupid. It'll work (I've done some testing in a VM), but do it at night after everybody's left and make proper backups first.

You're looking for the Universal UXTheme Patcher. This patcher lets you apply a (specific) icon set to system files... a similar process, but with a different target file and end result; the two are not mutually exclusive. Several other packages, such as XPize, FlyakiteOSX, or CrystalXP include a UXtheme patcher and visual style selection, but I don't really consider any visual style to be a part of the icon set, as such don't include a uxtheme patcher either.
 Oh well, it still looks cool
A nifty little effect I've noticed, if you stand a few feet away from the display, and/or turn off display stretching on an LCD (even on a 14'' 1024x768 LCD, 640x480 is pretty small), the dithering fades together and you can hardly tell that its all dithered
what happend to the tangoed thunderbird icosnt aht was in here lol i looked back 10 or so mages but i cant locate it i delete it and its gone i need it back
For which, the app icon or the toolbar icons?
i need 16x16 icon for my Opera communicator
You've already got it, you just need to extract it from the multiple-size icon. There's a few programs floating around that'll do that.

Woo-oot.

and "-notrayicon" argument also should be doing the thing! (i want to remove or change trayicon)

but is it only for LINUX Opera version?!

please help, i want to get rid of standart trayicon!

is there, or can somebody think of a way to slipstream this set in an install CD, so that its patched before i install it. (preferable automized, or semi automized). Its not that a big deal, but since i install lots of boxes for my friends and all, and they all want the TANGO set installed to. i was just thinkin out loud :)

further vertigosity, enjoy the month off, nothing needed what should urge a september release :)

Actually, I think I've got a better hold on not toasting the WinSXS comctl32.dll file and causing the boot-to-black-screen bug. So that is worth an update; sometime in the next couple weeks, I'll decide I've got a stopping point, make sure everything works, and make a release build.

As for automated installs, if the default settings are good, the "/S" switch (case sensitive) is supported to make a silent, un-attended install (that's supported by any NSIS installer, IIRC). If the default settings don't quite do it for ya, I'd have to put some work into reading other command-line parameters or an answer file. I don't plan on making a tool to modify the installation source, it doesn't seem like it makes that much sense to me, but a silent install seems like a good compromise.

I have a little question. I don't know if this question has been asked before but I don't really want to or have the time to go through all 71 pages so I just ask it. If it's been asked before I apologies.

The question is:

Is there anyway to get the Tango icons in .ico format instead of the patcher? I'm one of those persons who like to have control of everything and I want to install the icons manually. :shiftyninja:

benp has the.ICO and. PNG source files on his blog...I think go back three pages or so. ALso, if you search 'Tango .ICO' I think there is some circulating on WinMatrix.

Yep, they both exist, but they use fuzzy blobs for the smaller sizes. Which... most Windows people seem to prefer :| I sorta consider that broken, but then since I haven't gotten around to make a icon/PNG collection of my own, a lot of people would probably rather just consider me broken.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, since we have a "demt" here now... "demx" or "deanach" is the name of a visual style somebody here wanted a few months back that nobody (well, me at least) could remember the name of. Funny how human memory works, isn't it.

Hey, vertigosity, is it okay if I add your WMP and WinAmp PNG's to my Tango PNG pack? It was requested. Completely up to you!

@bobp: If you can manage the get that Internet Group Chat icon (two white talking bubble things overlapping) converted to clear sizes I'd be in great debt to you! I'm trying to reshack my Trillian program and the Im icon blows up whenever I use it heehee

Yeah, knock yourself out. You get enough resolution out of the versions I posted here for it?

"internet-group-chat" is part of Tango base... so it should already be sized, no?

    • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
