[Shell Patcher] Tango Icons for Windows

Recommended Posts

Here is the opera theme, please make icon suggestions (still some old tangoicons/older gnome icons around) and report any bugs.

I'll host it here until it shows up on opera's site. (put it in opera's skins folder, do not extract.)

Yeah, some people don't like MegaUpload. I'm not sure why. Oh well.

Hey ViperAFK, quick question for ya. Is the tab design in your Opera theme your design or native to the VS you are using? If it is native, which VS is that and on which platform. It looks very nice and I may want to do something similar (only with your permission if it is your design) :p

It's a windows Native skin, based off of Tobias Wolf's Tango Native.

http://my.opera.com/towolf/about/

He'll probably give you permission for anythign you want to do with it.

"The icons are all released under free licenses, I took liberty to remix them for an Opera theme. I am at no position to forbif you and actually encourage you to do anything you want with that skin.

There's only a slight problem and that is that Tango and gnome-icon-theme are not compatible. GIT is GPL and Tango is CC-by-SA.

Ideally you shouldn't mix them. IANAL though, and in my eye we have a niche here that would render thoe points nitpicking.

So, go ahead."

I might think about doing tangerine and industrial themes also, all I really have to do it find the appropriate Icons and replace them.

Uploaded to opera but there's a glitch with the site right now that says your version of opera is not compatible, all skins are effected, hopefully fixed soon

look in the skin.ini file and make sure you got 'Version=2' - other values make Opera reject the skin ;)

Yeah thought it was that at first, but it was the skins site, was posted on the forums and they fixed it, you can now downlaod the skin, I also updated some things on it. (Tab buttons are now Gnome) tested it on all my pc's and downloads fine.

it's not a matter of liking megaupload or not, it just doesn't work in poland at all for example - it always says that too many people are downloading now

Oh, I see. I honestly didn't know why some people don't like Megaupload and Rapidshare. I know they're filled with ads and stuff. Sorry if I offended!

am having so much fun tonight. I got Pidgin all installed and was giggling about how Tango it is. The new medium icons make me happy. I also got The GIMP 2.3 beta installed and saw that it has Tango icons by default now. Very Spiffah! If I could only find the OpenOffice build that has Tango by default I'd be all set.

Two questions here: Does anyone know of a Tango version of the Orange 2nd Gen iPod Shuffle icon in PNG and ICO format? I know there is the basic silver one but it is only in SVG and it is teensy tiny. I have an orange one and want it to match. Also, does anyone know of a good customizable media player that has iPod support? I know of foobar has one but I'm not sure how it'd work. I'll have to try it out.

Cheers! :D

Winamp has great ipod support, So much better than iTunes (no more duplicate artists on my ipod now)

It works now! It looks kinda cool man! I really like it :p

I am not offended at all! Hehe but rapidshare also says stuff liike: "the limit for your contry had been reached, please try tomorrow blah blah". YouSendIt.com seems to be ok though. Plus I don't even mind any ads cause Opera blocks everything.

And I so agree with you about the Gimp and OpenOffice - I hope they make Tango their default icon set too.

It's been a while since I've said anything really worth saying, so... here goes:

I've got the old batch scripts (they're easier to test, debug, and modify, than compiled NSIS code) working in-place on a running Vista 6.0.6000 VM. No drama. It'll need a heck of a lot more more testing and development (which probably won't happen until I've got nVidia fan speed control - anyone with a driver-controlled fan speed 7-series nVidia card have any report on the 158.18 Dets?), but I think I've got it cracked. Don't ask me for a release date, because I'm still a lazy bitch, but Tango on Vista will happen. Eventually.

I think Vista's icon set is decent, but hey, that looks pretty good. How are you going to tackle the preview-enabled icons? The Tango folders open upwards, Vista's folder opens to the right and has thumbnails spilling out of it. (Preview enabled icons can be disabled using Folder Options.)

I have a 7800 GT and its stays pegged at about 44% in Vista. I use RivaTuner to throttle the GPU fan in XP. RivaTuner works in Vista, but last time I tried it the fan control component didn't work.

That actually doesn't look so bad! You know what we need? We need a Tango styled VS for Vista. That way, we can have all the Tango goodness on Vista without all the horrible glossiness. I switched back to XP the other night because I was getting tired of Vista telling me my copy was pirated (it came from Compaq so it could very well be) and all the shiny gloss was hurting my eyes. very nice work, Vert!

When are ya going to release the Vista patcher, Vert?!?!11?111?1

Just kidding :p

P.S. Seriously though, did you figure out how to patch OOo in XP yet? No pressure ;)

u know SooperDoode i'm on the same boat, i'm getting tired of the vista look.......

we need something like this:

Vista running WindowBlinds using Guilouche

That looks really great! Thing is, I paid for WindowBlinds a year or so ago, used it once, and never touched it again. I don't really know why. Anyway, we need to figure out how to regain some of the freedom and customization with Visual Styles in Vista like we have in XP. I really like glass and the see-thru stuff and would want to use that but I'm not sure if anyone has figured out how to create visual styles that take advantage of the Aero effects. Meh. Awesome work on the WLM skin though:))

This has already been asked and answered but as this thread is ginormous and I'm incredibly lazy I'll ask again. Where in the world is the new GTK Tango icon set being stored and if it is in the Gnome CVS repository, how do I extract the PNG files from there. Right now, I can't find the new GTK icons and am only able to see a bunch of gibberish when attempting to view any PNG images. If I need a CVS viewer (I think Vert mentioned that), which should I get? Okay, all done. Thanks:))

    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know The ONLY thing I need to know is the price, which I know will be way higher than I (and most people) are willing to pay for a phone... so basically nothing here I need to know. PS: Nice job getting that Apple reference to a non-existent and unrevealed product as "competition" in there. Cheque is in the mail.
    • Well I really think the repasting helped if your higher clocks have returned, maybe the next thing to look at is if there is a problem with your case airflow? I guess this because your 3080 has returned to optimal state, but is still staying too warm, which might suggest it was thermal throttling before you repasted, of which the only logical conclusion could be outside factors.
    • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, Z Fold Wide: Everything you need to know by Hamid Ganji Galaxy Z Fold 7 - Image via Samsung The next generation of Samsung foldables is set to be unveiled next month at the second Unpacked event of the year. Samsung’s 2026 foldables are not expected to offer significant upgrades over their predecessors, with the Korean firm instead focusing on design refinements and conventional upgrades such as faster processors and better cameras. However, Samsung is reportedly planning to unveil an all-new passport-style foldable this year to rival Apple’s first foldable iPhone, which is expected to debut this September. Here’s a roundup of everything we know about Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices ahead of their official debut. When can we expect Samsung’s new foldables? The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 series were unveiled in July, and Samsung is expected to maintain this timeframe in 2026. Based on previous reports from Korean sources, Samsung will hold its Unpacked event on July 22 in London, UK, to pull back the curtain on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series. The devices are also expected to hit the shelves a few weeks after launch. However, Samsung has yet to announce an official date. A new naming scheme? One of the most interesting changes we might see this year is a new naming scheme for Samsung’s latest foldables. SamMobile reported that since Samsung is expected to unveil three foldables this year, it has adopted a new naming strategy to simplify product identification for customers. Accordingly, the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly be called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and will serve as the direct successor to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7. The “Ultra” suffix suggests the phone could feature higher-end specifications, such as additional rear camera modules. Samsung’s new passport-style foldable is expected to carry the Galaxy Z Fold 8 name without any suffix. This model is reportedly equipped with two rear cameras. No major changes are expected for the Flip model. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 anticipated specs Rumors over the past few months suggest Samsung is preparing several upgrades for its upcoming foldables, although the devices may continue to rely on larger batteries and faster charging speeds rather than dramatic design changes. The primary focus this year is expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and its wide-screen design. Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here are the anticipated specifications for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra based on previous leaks: 6.5-inch outer display and 8-inch inner display, 120Hz refresh rate, and 2,600 nits peak brightness Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage 4.1mm thickness when unfolded and a weight of 210g 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, 10MP or 12MP telephoto camera, 10MP cover camera, and 10MP selfie camera 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 As for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the device is not expected to be a major departure from its predecessor, although it could become slightly slimmer. Expected specifications include: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or Exynos 2600 processor 12GB of RAM with 256GB and 512GB storage options 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner dispaly and 4.1-inch Super AMOLED outer dispaly 50MP main camera, 12MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera 4,300mAh battery with 25W wired charging Android 17 and One UI 9 Samsung’s foldables are also expected to launch with Gemini Intelligence, Google’s AI suite for automating tasks in Android ecosystem. Moreover, given current memory and component costs, some Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 variants could see a price hike. Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a wide-screen design The centerpiece of the upcoming Unpacked event could be the Galaxy Z Fold 8, previously rumored as the Galaxy Z Fold Wide. This model adopts a passport-style form factor and is expected to compete directly with Apple’s iPhone Fold. Galaxy Z Fold 8 official CAD renders - Image via AndroidHeadlines Here’s what to expect: 7.6-inch primary OLED display and 5.4-inch cover display, 120Hz refresh rate, 2,600 nits peak brightness, and 4:3 aspect ratio Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB storage options 4,800mAh battery with 45W wired charging 50MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide camera, and 10MP selfie camera Android 17 and One UI 9 The three new foldable phones are unlikely to be the only devices unveiled at Samsung’s Unpacked event. The company is also expected to introduce the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Galaxy Watch 9 series.
